PURPOSE: This study aimed to examine the effects of self-stretching (SS) and joint mobilization (JM) on pain, craniovertebral angle (CVA), autonomic system function in chronic cervical pain patient with forward head posture (FHP). METHODS: A total of 30 male college students were selected as study subjects, and were divided into Group I (general physical therapy; GPT, n=10), Group II (GPT+SS, n=10), Group III (GPT+JM, n=10). All groups were evaluated three times a week for 4 weeks. Pain was measured by visual analogue scale (VAS), CVA was measured using digital goniometer and autonomic system function (heart rate; HR, skin conductivity; SC, LF norm, HF norm, LF/HF ratio) was measured by Biofeedback ProComp Infiniti. After 4 weeks, paired t-test was used to compare the changes within the group and one way ANOVA was used to compare those between the groups. RESULTS: In Group I, VAS was significantly decreased. In Group II and III was a significantly change in all items. In comparison between Group I and II was a difference in all items except HR. In comparison between Group I and III was a difference in all items. In comparison between Group II and III was a difference in VAS, LF norm and LF/HF ratio. CONCLUSION: This study showed that SS and JM can effectively reduce pain and normalize the autonomic system function.

This study was designed to investigate the effects of a smoking cessation school program on attitudes towards smoking cessation, the subjective norm, perceived behavioral controls, the intent to cease smoking and smoking behavior. Also included was the goals of the program itself. Study subjects were 80 adolescent smokers who at least attended the smoking cessation school program without absence. had smoked one cigarette at the time of the first study before the program and attended the first. second. and third studies (The study was conducted from September 26. to December 21. 1999. a period of 59 days). Data collection was performed using the TPB questionnaire which was developed by Jee Yon-Ock(1994). The survey included questions covering the intended areas of study mentioned above. The first data was collected during the first day of the five day program. The second survey was conducted immediately after the last day of the program and the last survey was four weeks later. Data was analyzed with a SAS/PC program including N. %. a paired t-test. The results were as follows; 1. After the program. the scores representing attitude towards smoking cessation (before program: 14.5. after program: 16.8) and perceived behavioral control (before program: 1.2. after program: 2.1) rose significantly, but the scores for attitudes towards the subjective norm and the intent to cease smoking were not notably different. 2. After the program. the frequency of daily smoking fell significantly (before program: 5.7 cigarettes. after program: 3.2 cigarettes). In conclusion, the five day smoking cessation school program increased attitude. perceived behavioral control and decreased smoking behavior but did not influence subjective norm, smoking cessation intention. Thus, further study is required to better evaluate the effects of the program and to improve any shortcomings.

This paper is concerned with the space $\mathcal{K}_{w^*}(X^*,Y)$ of $weak^*$ to weak continuous compact operators from the dual space $X^*$ of a Banach space X to a Banach space Y. We show that if $X^*$ or $Y^*$ has the Radon-Nikod$\acute{y}$m property, $\mathcal{C}$ is a convex subset of $\mathcal{K}_{w^*}(X^*,Y)$ with $0{\in}\mathcal{C}$ and T is a bounded linear operator from $X^*$ into Y, then $T{\in}\bar{\mathcal{C}}^{{\tau}_{\mathcal{c}}}$ if and only if $T{\in}\bar{\{S{\in}\mathcal{C}:{\parallel}S{\parallel}{\leq}{\parallel}T{\parallel}\}}^{{\tau}_{\mathcal{c}}}$, where ${\tau}_{\mathcal{c}}$ is the topology of uniform convergence on each compact subset of X, moreover, if $T{\in}\mathcal{K}_{w^*}(X^*, Y)$, here $\mathcal{C}$ need not to contain 0, then $T{\in}\bar{\mathcal{C}}^{{\tau}_{\mathcal{c}}}$ if and only if $T{\in}\bar{\mathcal{C}}$ in the topology of the operator norm. Some properties of $\mathcal{K}_{w^*}(X^*,Y)$ are presented.

A linear map T from a Banach algebra A into a Banach algebra B is almost multiplicative if $\left\$\mid$ T(fg) - T(f)T(g) \right\$\mid$ \leq \in\left\$\mid$ f \right\$\mid$\left\$\mid$ g \right\$\mid$(f,g \in A)$ for some small positive $\in$. B.E.Johnson [4,5] studied whether this implies that T is near a multiplicative map in the norm of operators from A into B. K. Jarosz [2,3] raised the conjecture : If T is an almost multiplicative functional on uniform algebra A, there is a linear and multiplicative functional F on A such that $\left\$\mid$ T - F \right\$\mid$ \leq \in', where \in' \to 0$ as $\in \to 0$. B. E. Johnson [4] gave an example of non-uniform commutative Banach algebra which does not have the property described in the above conjecture. He proved also that C(K) algebras and the disc algebra A(D) have this property [5]. We extend this property to a derivation on a Banach algebra.

For $x_0{\in}K$, define $x_{n+1}={\lambda}_{n+1}x_{n}+(1-{\lambda}_{n+1})T_{n+1}x_{n},n{\geq}0$. If ${\lambda}_n{\subset}[0,1]$ satisfies $lim_{n{\rightarrow}{\infty}}{\lambda}_n=0$, we proved that $\{x_n\}$ weakly converges to some $z{\in}F\;as\;n{\rightarrow}{\infty}$ in the framework of reflexive Banach space E which satisfies the Opial's condition or has $Fr{\acute{e}}chet$ differentiable norm or its dual $E^*$ has the Kadec-Klee property. We also obtain that $\{x_n\}$ strongly converges to some $z{\in}F$ in Banach space E if K is a compact subset of E or there exists one map $T{\in}\{T_{n};n=1,2,...\}$ satisfy some compact conditions such as T is semi compact or satisfy Condition A or $lim_{n{\rightarrow}{\infty}}d(x_{n},F(T))=0$ and so on.

In this paper, the concept of semi-compatibility in Menger space is introduced and it is used to prove results on the existence of a unique common fixed point of four self-maps. These results are a very wide improvement of Mishra [8], Dedeic and Sarapa [3, 4], Cain and Kasril [1], and Sehgal and Bharucha Reid [10].

Let (equation omitted) denote the closure of the set (equation omitted) of dominant operators in the norm topology. We show that the Weyl spectrum of an operator T $\in$ (equation omitted) satisfies the spectral mapping theorem for analytic functions, which is an extension of [5, Theorem 1]. Also we show that an operator approximately equivalent to an operator of class (equation omitted) is of class (equation omitted).

Recently, a homogeneous fuzzy time series model was proposed by means of defining some new operations on fuzzy numbers. In this paper, we consider expanding the results to the nonhomogeneous fuzzy time series and the general fuzzy time series using Tw, the weakest t-norm, based algebraic fuzzy operations.

We present regularity conditions for suitable weak solutions of the Navier-Stokes equations with slip boundary data near the curved boundary. To be more precise, we prove that suitable weak solutions become regular in a neighborhood boundary points, provided the scaled mixed norm $L^{p,q}_{x,t}$ with 3/p + 2/q = 2, $1{\leq}q$ < ${\infty}$ is sufficiently small in the neighborhood.

In this paper we prove a common fixed point theorem for compatible maps of type $(\beta)$ on fuzzy metric spaces with arbitrary continuous t-norm.
