Electron Transport Properties of Zn(phen)q Compared with Alq3 in OLED

  • We synthesized new electroluminescence materials [(1,10-phenanthroline)(8-hydroxyquinoline)] Zn(phen)q and investigated their electron transport properties. We used Zn(phen)q and $Alq_3$ for the conductive materials and measured their electron transport properties as a function of the organic layer thickness. The difference between Zn(phen)q and $Alq_3$ as electron transporting materials suggests that the electrical properties depends on the carrier injection.

Analytical Study Considering Both Core Loss Resistance and Magnetic Cross Saturation of Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors

  • This paper presents a method for evaluating interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM) performance over the entire operation region. Using a d-q axis equivalent circuit model consisting of motor parameters such as the permanent magnetic flux, copper resistance, core loss resistance, and d-q axis inductance, a conventional mathematical model of an IPMSM has been developed. It is well understood that in IPMSMs, magnetic operating conditions cause cross saturation and that the iron loss resistance - upon which core losses depend - changes according to the motor speed; for the sake of convenience, however, d-q axis machine models usually neglect the influence of magnetic cross saturation and assume that the iron loss resistance is constant. This paper proposes an analysis method based on considering a magnetic cross saturation and estimating a core loss resistance that changes with the operating conditions and speed. The proposed method is then verified by means of a comparison between the computed and the experimental results.

In this paper, we prove the followings: (a) Z is either a linear space or a quadric hypersurface in a linear subspace; (b) $H^1({\mathcal{I}_X(k)})=H^1({\mathcal{I}_Y(k)})$ for all k ∈ ℤ; (c) reg(Y) ≤ max{reg(X), 4}; (d) Y is cut out by at most quartic hypersurfaces.

  • The development of direct receiver techniques is expected to be a solution for future wideband or multi-band wireless systems based on software defined radio. In this Paper, we study the regeneration of I and Q signals for the SDR based direct conversion receiver, so that we can handle a wide bandwidth and maintain maximal flexibility in system utilization. After modeling the basic system considering the real wireless communication environment, and studying the impact of imperfect phase imbalance on the performance of a direct conversion receiver, we propose a suboptimal I and Q signal regeneration algorithm for the system. The proposed algerian regenerates I and Q signals using a real time early-late compensator which effectively estimates phase imbalances and gives feedback in a directreceiver. The proposed algorithm is shown to mitigate the impact of AWGN and improves performance especially at low SNR channel condition. According to the computer simulation, the BER performance of the proposed system is at least about 4 dB better than conventional systems under $45{\~}55$ degrees random phase errors.

High-Q Micromechanical Digital-to-Analog Variable Capacitors Using Parallel Digital Actuator Array (병렬 연결된 다수의 디지털 구동기를 이용한 High-Q 디지털-아날로그 가변 축전기)

  • We present a micromechanical digital-to-analog (DA) variable capacitor using a parallel digital actuator array, capable of accomplishing high-Q tuning. The present DA variable capacitor uses a parallel interconnection of digital actuators, thus achieving a low resistive structure. Based on the criteria for capacitance range ($0.348{\sim}1.932$ pF) and the actuation voltage (25 V), the present parallel DA variable capacitor is estimated to have a quality factor 2.0 times higher than the previous serial-parallel DA variable capacitor. In the experimental study, the parallel DA variable capacitor changes the total capacitance from 2.268 to 3.973 pF (0.5 GHz), 2.384 to 4.197 pF (1.0 GHz), and 2.773 to 4.826 pF (2.5 GHz), thus achieving tuning ratios of 75.2%, 76.1%, and 74.0%, respectively. The capacitance precisions are measured to be $6.16{\pm}4.24$ fF (0.5 GHz), $7.42{\pm}5.48$ fF (1.0 GHz), and $9.56{\pm}5.63$ fF (2.5 GHz). The parallel DA variable capacitor shows the total resistance of $2.97{\pm}0.29\;{\Omega}$ (0.5 GHz), $3.01{\pm}0.42\;{\Omega}$ (1.0 GHz), and $4.32{\pm}0.66\;{\Omega}$ (2.5 GHz), resulting in high quality factors which are measured to be $33.7{\pm}7.8$ (0.5 GHz), $18.5{\pm}4.9$ (1.0 GHz), and $4.3{\pm}1.4$ (2.5 GHz) for large capacitance values ($2.268{\sim}4.826$ pF). We experimentally verify the high-Q tuning capability of the present parallel DA variable capacitor, while achieving high-precision capacitance adjustments.

Process Suggestion and HAZOP Analysis for CQ4 and Q2O in Nuclear Fusion Exhaust Gas (핵융합 배가스 중 CQ4와 Q2O 처리공정 제안 및 HAZOP 분석)

  • This study deals with a process for the recovery of hydrogen isotopes from methane ($CQ_4$) and water ($Q_2O$) containing tritium in the nuclear fusion exhaust gas (Q is Hydrogen, Deuterium, Tritium). Steam Methane Reforming and Water Gas Shift reactions are used to convert $CQ_4$ and $Q_2O$ to $Q_2$ and the produced $Q_2$ is recovered by the subsequent Pd membrane. In this study, one circulation loop consisting of catalytic reactor, Pd membrane, and circulation pump was applied to recover H components from $CH_4$ and $H_2O$, one of $CQ_4$ and $Q_2O$. The conversion of $CH_4$ and $H_2O$ was measured by varying the catalytic reaction temperature and the circulating flow rate. $CH_4$ conversion was 99% or more at the catalytic reaction temperature of $650^{\circ}C$ and the circulating flow rate of 2.0 L/min. $H_2O$ conversion was 96% or more at the catalytic reaction temperature of $375^{\circ}C$ and the circulating flow rate of 1.8 L/min. In addition, the amount of $CQ_4$ generated by Korean Demonstration Fusion Power Plant (K-DEMO) in the future was predicted. Then, the treatment process for the $CQ_4$ was proposed and HAZOP (hazard and operability) analysis was conducted to identify the risk factors and operation problems of the process.

A Rejection of Harmonic Ripples for d-q Transformation (d-q 변환에서의 고조파 맥동 제거)

  • This paper presents a simple notch filter, which is so suitable for three-phase unbalanced and distorted power line. In the d-q synchronous transformation, three-phase unbalanced and distorted voltages generate lots of ripple voltages on d-q axes. The ripples make disturbances on controllers such as PLL of phase tracking. Unbalanced state makes ripple of double the frequency of power line. Odd harmonics 5th and 7th on the line make even 4th and 6th ripples on d-q axes due to the rotating reference frame, respectively. Cascaded two comb filters, delay lines 1/4T and 1/8T, are adopted for the ripple rejection. The filter rejects harmonics 2nd, 4th, 6th, 10th and so on. They are very effective to remove the ripples of both unbalance and distortion. The filter, implemented by two FIFOs on an experimental system, is adopted on a PLL controller of power line phase tracking. Through the simulation and experimental results, performance of the proposed comb filter has been validated.

  • In this article, we present the Stancu generalization of (p, q)-$Sz{\acute{a}}sz$-Mirakyan Kantorovich type linear positive operators. Using Korovkin's result, approximation properties are investigated. First, we evaluate moments and direct results. By choosing p and q, the convergence rate have been estimated for better approximation. For the particular case ${\alpha}=0$, ${\beta}=0$ we obtain results for (p, q)-$Sz{\acute{a}}sz$-Mirakyan Kantorovich type operators.

Quality Cost Model for a Product in the User's Viewpoint (제품의 사용자 관점에서의 품질비용 모델)

  • The Q-cost has been used in the manufacturing company to decide the optimal level of company's product quality, and to evaluate the effect of company's quality control system since the advent of Q-cost theory. In spite of the following costs are generated in the user side, owing to an unsuitable level of product quality and inadequacy of company's quality control system, these costs are not usually included in the company's Q-cost : (1) the cost generated in relation to a claim proposal as traffic expeneses and transpotation of the product. (2) the cost of maintenance through the useful life of the product, especially accured after quality warranty period. (3) the cost related to the economical efficiency in using the product. (4) the cost ralated to a customer dissatisfaction for the product quality. In this point of view, the contents of user side Q-cost, and the relations between the user side Q-cost and the level of company's product quality are discussed. And then the importance of user side Q-cost in order to determine the optimal quality level is discussed.

Cytogenetic Analysis in Korean Head and Neck Cancer Cell Lines: Comparative Genomic Hybridization(CGH) and Array-CGH (두경부 편평상피세포암 세포주의 염색체 이상 분석: 비교유전체보합법과 Array 비교유전체보합법)

  • Head and neck squamous cell carcinoma(HNSCC) is notorious for its poor outcome and increasing incidence. But, the studies of cytogenetic analysis in HNSCC are relatively rare, because of difficulties in culturing solid tumor cells and complexity in chromosomal DNA abberations associated with the lesions. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the location of chromosomal aberrations in Korean HNSCC cell lines (SNU-1041, 1066, and 1076) with comparative genomic hybridization(CGH) and array based CGH(array-CGH). Chromosomal gains of 3q23-q27, 5p13-p15.3, 7p21-pter, 8q11.2-q12, 8q21.1-qter, 9q22-q34, 16q22-q24, and 20q11.2-qter, as well as chromosomal losses on 3p10-p14 were found in all 3 SNU cell lines. Losses on 3p15- p23, 4q22-q27, 4q31.3-qter, 6q14-q15, 7q31-q34, 8p12-pter, 18q21-q23, and 21q11.2-q12 were observed in 2 of 3 cell lines. In array-CGH, many genes were altered including gains of PIK3CA, MYC, EVI1, MAD1L1 genes and losses of SERPIN genes. These aberrations of gene and chromosome coincide with other results of study, generally. These data about the patterns of chromosomal aberrations could be a basic step for understanding more detailed genetic events in the carcinogenesis and also provide information for diagosis and treatment in HNSCC.
