  • An electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection device, so called, N-type extended drain silicon controlled rectifier (NEDSCR) device, was analyzed for high voltage I/O applications. A conventional NEDSCR device shows typical SCR-like characteristics with extremely low snapback holding voltage. This may cause latch-up problem during normal operation. However, a modified NEDSCR device with proper junction/channel engineering using counter pocket source (CPS) ion implantation demonstrates itself with both the excellent ESD protection performance and the high latch-up immunity. Since the CPS implant technique does not change avalanche breakdown voltage, this methodology does not reduce available operation voltage and is applicable regardless of the operation voltage.

  • Purposes of this study were to analyzed coat types and characteristics of coat of young persons, and search whether fashion trend is reflected on coat. Data collected pictures that they are wearing dress in street of Daejeon city 3 places that there are much the rising generations at November, 1999. This study target was from teens latter half to 20 opening part, 154 women. Data analyzed content analysis, frequency analysis, crossing and the result is as following. First, classification standard of coat was textile fabric, form of detail and ornament. Second, coat could classify in three types, type 1 was traditional duffle coat style that is distinguished by form of detail and ornament(hood and button). Type 2 was classified property of textile fabric that used leather, padding, fur etc., and type 3 was classified by collar detail of woolen fabric coat. Specially, ornamental fur of woolen coat perceived visually strong. And design detail of coat showed significant difference in coat type. That is, duffle coat type was designed patch pocket and toggle, woolen fabric coat type was hidden button and seam pocket. Third, fashion tendency of coat was proved that is reflecting part of predicted fashion trend.

  • A Computer program is developed for creation of a new lobe shaper for Roots-type supercharger. Numerical analyses are preformed for the flowfields in the pocket volumes formed by various lobe shapes. The governing equations for the two-dimensional, turbulent, operational processes in the housing are discretized by the control volume approach that insures the conservative characteristics to be satisfied in the calculation domain, and they are solved by a modified SIMPLE algorithm. Numerical results show that the effects of secondary flow on the leakage flow rate with the Cassini(B) lobe shape is smaller than that of Cassini(A) rotor. But the pocket volume of Cassine(B) lobe is larger than the other lobe shapes.

  • Electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection devices of P-type embedded silicon-controlled rectifier (PESCR) structure were analyzed for high-voltage operating input/output (I/O) applications. Conventional PESCR standard device exhibits typical SCR characteristics with very low-snapback holding voltages, resulting in latch-up problems during normal operation. However, the modified device with the counter pocket source (CPS) surrounding N+ source region and partially formed P-well (PPW) structures proposed in this study could improve latch-up immunity by indicating high on-resistance and snapback holding voltage.

  • Carbide-tipped twist drill of new type which is better than traditional H.S.S twist drill has been developed successfully to drill steel work-pieces with high speed. This new carbide drill consists of a characteristic flature of special shape of cutting edge, chip pocket, and flute. The special design of the chip pocket and the flute guarantees both periodic fracture and smooth transport of chips along the flute. The carbide-tipped twist drill also allows one to apply more drilling force than conventional one and produce holes with high accuracy.

  • The origins of beaches at Byeonsan Peninsular, as a pocket type, are classified to a sand barrier type and wave-cut type. The beaches had developed by the deposition of the silt and clay layers on the 10m height from sea level in the inner bay during climax era of postglacial transgression. At that time, some sands had blown toward the inland hills to form aeolian deposits. After postglacial sea-level stabilization, sometimes, there has been the negative budget of beach materials. Recently, beaches have been transformed by human impact such as construction of Saemangeum sea-wall, especially in the Byeonsan and Gosapo beaches being close to the sea-wall. So the speed of tidal currents become slower and comparatively depositoinal activity stronger. And the level of chemical weathering has been higher. In Byeonsan beach, the ratio of coarse sand decreased with higher ratio of finer materials and by beach erosion dissected runnels developed, running parallel to the coastline. In Gosapo beach, supply of suspended materials are increased through the Garyeok drainage gate, the sands tend to be finer.

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study was to determine the impact of the sociodemographic and health characteristics on the out-of-pocket health spending of the individuals aged 20 and older in Korea. Methods : We used the data from the 2001 National Public Health and Nutrition Survey. The final sample size was 26,154 persons. Multiple linear regression models were used according to the age groups, that is, one model was used for those people under the age of sixty-five and the other was used for those people aged sixty-five and older. In these analyses, the expenditures were transformed to a logarithmic scale to reduce the skewness of the results. Results : Out-of-pocket health expenditures for those people under the age of 65 averaged 14,800 won per month, whereas expenditures for those people aged 65 and older averaged 27,200 won per month. In the regression analysis, the insurance type, resident area, self-reported health status, acute or chronic condition and bed-disability days were the statistically significant determinants for both age groups. Gender and age were statistically significant determinants only for the non-elderly. Conclusions : The findings from this study show that the mean out-of-pocket health expenditures varied according to the age groups and also several diverse characteristics. Thus, policymakers should consider the out-of-pocket health expenditure differential between the elderly and non-elderly persons. Improvement of the insurance coverage for the economically vulnerable subgroups that were identified in this study should be carefully considered. In addition, it is necessary to assess the impact of out-of-pocket spending on the peoples' health care utilization.

  • A conventional double diffused drain n-type MOSFET (DDD_NMOS) device shows SCR behaviors with very low snapback holding voltage and latch-up problem during normal operation. However, a modified DDD_NMOS-based silicon controlled rectifier (DDD_NSCR_CPS) device with a counter pocket source (CPS) structure is proven to increase the snapback holding voltage and on-resistance compare to standard DDD_NSCR device, realizing an excellent electrostatic discharge protection performance and the stable latch-up immunity.
