Survey on Teachers' Perception and Operational State for Elementary Science Online Remote Classes (초등 과학 온라인 수업 운영에 대한 교사들의 인식과 운영실태)

  • The aims of this study were to do a survey on teachers' perception and operational state for elementary science online remote classes and suggest ways to improve the elementary science online remote classes. The survey was based on responses from 100 teachers who have taught elementary science online remote classes for the first semester of 2020 for COVID-19. The questionnaire used in this study consisted of four parts: general informations of participants, the operation status of elementary science online remote classes, teachers' perceptions on the operation of elementary science online remote classes, ways to improve elementary science online remote classes. As a result of this study, elementary teachers taught elementary science online remote classes on the main use of content utilization type. And they had a difficulty in conducting elementary science online remote classes because of lack of contents, absence of elementary science online remote classes teaching methods, learner management and heavy workload. Therefore, to improve elementary science online remote classes the Ministry of Education and regional offices of education have to develop and provide high-quality contents reflect the characteristics of elementary science subjects, introduce a rent-an-experiment equipment system, and build a science class platform providing frequent real-time interaction between teacher and student.

Determinants of Successful Online Education Services : Focusing on Social Capital and Service Quality (온라인 교육 서비스의 재구매 의도에 영향을 미치는 요인 분석 : 사회자본과 서비스품질을 중심으로)

  • Although online education service markets are growing fast, previous studies have been limited to the studies on media types or system qualities of online education. In order to provide timely implications for online education service providers to maintain and increase the number of users, other factors such as interactivity and community perspectives should be considered. In this study, social capital and service quality were adopted as antecedents of learning motivation. Also, service quality dimensions, as well as learning motivation, were chosen to examine its impact on intention to repurchase of online education services. Research findings show that structural and cognitive dimensions of social capital are proved as antecedents of relational capital; structural and relational social capital positively influence on learning motivation; tangibility positively makes impact on learning motivation; and intention to repurchase is positively influenced by responsiveness and learning motivation. Practical implications based on the research findings are presented.

A Study on the Academic vocabulary Education for Content-Based Korean Language Education: A Basic Study for Online Dictionary Development

  • In this paper, we proposes to develop an online academic vocabulary dictionary as a way of educating academic vocabulary for content-oriented Korean language education. Various academic languages exist in the content-based Korean language teaching materials they encounter when studying at university. You cannot understand or produce academic text without knowing the academic vocabulary. Therefore, one of the tasks of Korean language education has become to improve educational efficiency by preparing a method for academic vocabulary education that is most suitable for them in consideration of their own. Prior to the development of the online academic vocabulary dictionary, the institute conducted a basic study on how the content should be contained in the online dictionary. Online academic vocabulary dictionaries allow students to naturally link their limited education into and out of the classroom, thereby overcoming the limitations of vocabulary education at the educational scene and maximizing their educational effectiveness.

A Study on Current Status of National Science Museums' Online Service

  • Purpose: This study is a prior study for expanding the science museum's online services. Based on case studies, we propose an online service for science museums in the future. Research design, data, and methodology: This study analyzed online-based science museums services trends. The data was collected based on the cases of five national science museums. To understand the characteristics of science museum's online services, we analyzed the status of digital content provided by each science museum and the operation method of online special exhibitions. Result: The national science museums provided online services through virtual science museums, SNS, and YouTube. However, the services still imposed limitation on facilitating active learning for visitors. In the case of SNS and YouTube, it is only a one-time promotional tool. Conclusion: This study suggests the need for concrete measures to utilize the abundant content accumulated so far in actual education. Additionally, it emphasizes the importance of content development incorporating new platforms.

A Case Study on the 'Theory of Home Economics Education' Using Online ProblemBased Learning (온라인 문제중심학습을 활용한 '가정교육론' 수업 사례 연구)

  • The objective of this study was to conduct a 'Theory of Home Economics Education' class using online problem-based learning(PBL) for prospective home economics(HE) teachers. The aim was to enable teachers to analyze the learning experience in the classroom, and to prepare operational strategies for online PBL on this basis. In order to achieve this, online PBL was applied to 31 students participating in the 'Theory of Home Economics Education' at the Department of HE in a university in Seoul, and the results were collected from the learning process. This also involved a reflective journal, a survey on the learning experience and the impacts was conducted. Moreover, analysis was undertaken on the learning activities, learning difficulties, and improvements. The main research results are as follows. Firstly, students accessed Webex, an online video conferencing program, and performed two PBL tasks: 'Making Home Economics Promotion Materials' and 'Presenting Teaching Strategies to Improve Learner's Immersion in Online Classes'. Secondly, learners established their own identity of HE learned about the HE class plans themselves. They also encountered realistic experience as HE teachers and learned communication and collaboration skills. Furthermore, they acquired creative problem-solving and self-directed learning ability, community consciousness, as well as the attitude of consideration and respect. Thirdly, students lacked knowledge of learning content and encountered difficulty in solving data research, analysis processes, and unstructured problems. They were affected by a lack of time and encountered problem in communicating with other team members in an online environment. As an improvement in online class operation, it was considrered necessary to reduce the learning burden by securing time and reducing the number of assignments, as well as to explain active interaction with instructors and PBL.

Analysis of the difference in online class operation between physical education teachers according to COVID-19 (COVID-19에 따른 체육교사 간 온라인 수업 운영 차이 분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to find out the differences in the teaching methods of elementary, middle and high school physical education teachers for online physical education classes and the improvement of online education. To this end, an online questionnaire was conducted for 166 physical education teachers belonging to the Busan Metropolitan Physical Education Research Association community, and cross-analysis were conducted. There search results are as follows. First, there was no difference in gender, starting with online school. Second, there were differences in the method sand motivation so online physical education classes according to the type of employment, and there was no difference in improvement. Third, there was significant difference in the motivation for online physical education classes according to the teaching career. Based on these research results, it is expected that various efforts will be needed to promote the adaptation and improvement of education and teachers for online physical education classes.

  • Online education is a major trend in the future education change and the COVID-19 pandemic has further accelerated the process. Online education has become an important part of the modern education system because of its stability and continuity. However, the disadvantages of traditional online education can reduce users' experience, thus upgrading online education is the key to future education. Metaverse, as a new platform for online education, redefines the occurrence space of online education, changes the teaching mode and learning and evaluation methods of online education, and shows its development potential. This research analyzed the characteristics of Metaverse and its technological development status, and then proposed an intelligent online education environment construction scheme based focused on Metaverse of art education.

Effectiveness of online-based education for self-care in ostomates: systematic review (장루보유자의 자가간호를 위한 온라인 기반 교육의 효과: 체계적 문헌고찰)

  • With an increase in the number of individuals with ostomies globally, online-based programs are being used to educate ostomates. Therefore, this study analyzed the effects, characteristics, outcomes, and implications of online self-care education programs for ostomates. This systematic review searched the MEDLINE, Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature (CINAHL), and Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (Central) electronic databases to conduct a meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials published up to December 2023. Two investigators independently extracted data and assessed study quality based on the risk of bias. Of the 519 identified studies, eight were relevant, which were divided by intervention: three studies used telehealth, three used mobile applications, and two, multimedia learning training. The educational programs in the relevant studies focused on ostomy knowledge, self-care, and prevention of complications; while some included psychological support. Online-based education programs can improve ostomy patients' adjustment and self-efficacy, reduce complications, and improve quality of life. Online-based education programs have easier accessibility by patients and nurses; it can effectively improve ostomy patients' quality of life and prevent future complications.

A Study on the Perceptions of Professors and Students of Engineering Colleges on Online Classes for Spring Semester 2020 (2020년 1학기 공과대학 교수와 학생의 온라인 수업에 관한 인식 연구)

  • In 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic has brought dramatic changes in the field of engineering education. Contrary to the traditional engineering education emphasis on content-oriented, design-based, hands-on, experimental, and field experience, most of engineering classes in 2020 had to be undertaken remotely online. However, it has not been explored how professors and students perceive about such a shift in engineering education. The aim of the current study was to investigate the perceptions of professors and students on online classes in engineering colleges during spring Semester 2020. Questionnaire data were collected from 100 professors and 4,152 students in the college of engineering. The results of this study were as following: Students were less satisfied with the online classes than professors. The online lecture method that students were most satisfied with was the recorded lecture. This is likely due to the fact that the recorded lectures can be repeated multiple times anytime, anywhere. Moreover, the experimental classes, which conventionally has more of an emphasis on the hands-on experience, also had to be conducted remotely, showing even lower satisfaction among students. Most of professors reported that the average hours they spent on preparing for online lecture increased compared to face-to-face class. Both professors and students preferred in-person exam as a desirable method of end-of-semester assessment for grading. The results of the current study have important implications for the improvement of online course environments. It is important for professors to design a structured class suitable for online education and understand the challenges students encounter during online classes. Also, professors should communicate more openly about their expectations and rubrics for class goals and assignments. Schools also needs to make effort to provide the support for the internet environment of students.

Using Online Knowledge-based Search Service in Science Education: focused on Secondary School Chemistry (과학교육에서의 온라인 지식검색 서비스 활용 현황과 역할: 중·고등학교 화학교과를 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine how online knowledge-based search service is being used by students in science education. Reviewing information and summarizing data are important parts in scientific inquiry. As more and more information is available online, how to review and summarize online information for scientific inquiry also becomes an issue. In this study, we examined one of the popular online knowledge-based search services to see what kinds of information in secondary school chemistry are mostly sought and how reliable those information could be. The result indicated that users mostly seek scientific explanations and problem solving but about 30% of provided information appeared to be incorrect. It implicates that it is necessary to pay attention for teaching students how to obtain, evaluate, and communicate online information in science education to enhance students' ability for scientific inquiry.
