Marginal accuracy and fracture strength of Targis/Vectris Crowns prepared with different preparation designs

  • Statement of problem. Targis/Vectris restorations provide excellent esthetics. Marginal accuracy is significantly influenced by the preparation design. There were no studies to examine the effect of preparation design on the marginal discrepancy and fracture strength of Targis / Vectris crowns. Purpose. This study evaluated the marginal accuracy before and after cementation, and the fracture strength of FRC/Ceromer(Targis / Vectris) crowns according to different preparation design. Material and method. Three metal dies with different convergence angles($6^{\circ},\;10^{\circ},\;15^{\circ}$) were prepared. Total 30 (10 for each angle) Targis/Vectris crowns were made. The restorations were evaluated for adaptation of the margin before and after cementation, then were compressively loaded to failure. Fracture surfaces of the crowns were examined using a SEM. Results. The mean marginal gap was $49{\yen}m\;for6^{\circ},\;55{\S}>for\;10^{\circ}\;and\;70{\S}>for\;15^{\circ}$ and in clinically acceptable level. The mean marginal gap increased significantly after cementation. The increasing amount during cementation was the largest in the $6^{\circ}$ group. The crowns on 60 convergence angle had a significantly higher fracture strength than the crowns on $15^{\circ}$ angle. Mean fracture strength of total crowns regardless of convergence angle was 1390 N, which was higher than all-ceramic crowns. SEM observation showed two-mode fracture pattern. Conclusion. From the results of this study, all of the FRC/Ceromer crowns had clinically acceptable marginal accuracy and could withstand the bite force. Moreover, less convergent angle than all-ceramic crown might be recommended for preparation procedure.

치과용 Varnish가 충전재의 변연누출에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 (A STUDY OF CAVITY VARNISH APPLICATION ON THE MARGINAL LEAKAGE OF THE VARIOUS DENTAL RESTORATIONS)

  • This study was undertaken to evaluate the effects of varnish application and thermocycling on the marginal leakage. 240 cavities of Class V were prepared on the 120 extracted premolars, and the cavities were filled with amalgam, Heliosit$^{(R)}$, and Hipol$^{(R)}$ after application of Copalite$^{(R)}$ or Duraphat$^{(R)}$. All specimens were immersed in methylene blue solution for 24 hours after thermocycling at $4^{\circ}C$ and $60^{\circ}C$, embedded in acrylic resin, and sectioned with low speed saw into two parts. The sectioned specimens observed with the metallurgical microscope. The following results were obtained: 1. The marginal seal was more effective in the amalgam-filled cavities after application of Copalite$^{(R)}$ threetimes or an application of Duraphat$^{(R)}$ varnish than in those without varnish applications. 2. Of the composite resin-filled cavities, the leakage of the varnish applied cases showed much more than without application. 3. There was no significant difference in the effect of marginal sealing between Copalite$^{(R)}$ and Duraphat$^{(R)}$ applications. 4. There was a significant difference in the degree of the marginal leakage of amalgam-filled cavities between the groups of thermocycling times, but no significant difference in the resin-filled cavities. 5. There was no significant difference in the degree of the marginal leakage between the Heliosit$^{(R)}$ and the Hipol$^{(R)}$ resin-filled cavities.

  • 고정성 보철물의 변연 적합도가 낮은 경우 치태침착, 치주질환, 치아과민, 보철물 구성요소 파절, 시멘트 상실 등의 생물학적, 기계적 합병증이 발생할 가능성이 증가할 수 있다. 이러한 합병증은 보철물의 장기간의 성공과 생존에 영향을 미친다. 본 증례는 임플란트 지지 나사-시멘트 유지형 보철물에서 보철물 장착 시 보철물-지대주를 제거하고 변연부를 연마하여 변연간극을 최소화할 수 있는 임상과정을 보여준다. 그리고 변연 간극을 연마 전과 후에 측정하여 비교 관찰하였다. 본 기술은 변연 적합도를 높여 보철물의 수명 연장에 기여할 수 있다.

석탄화력발전 출력감소가 계통한계가격 및 온실가스 배출량에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Power Output Reduction on the System Marginal Price and Green House Gas Emission in Coal-Fired Power Generation)

  • 본 연구에서는 석탄화력발전의 출력 감소가 계통한계가격과 온실가스감축량에 어떻게 영향을 미치는지 분석하였다. 분석방법은 국영 발전회사에서 이용하는 전력거래예측프로그램을 이용하였으며 전력계통의 운영조건은 제7차 전력수급기본계획의 전력수요와 전원구성을 근거로 하였다. 분석결과 전체 석탄화력발전의 최대출력을 29 [%]까지 감소한 경우 계통한계가격은 감소전과 비교하여 12 [%p] 상승하고 온실가스 배출량은 9,966 [kton] 감축되었다. 또한 석탄화력발전기 전체 용량의 30 [%]에 해당하는 저효율 석탄화력발전기 16기를 정지한 경우 계통한계가격은 14 [%p] 까지 증가하였고 온실가스 배출량은 12,574[kton]까지 감축 가능함을 알 수 있었다.

한국 도로 자본의 산업에 대한 영향과 도로자본 스톡의 최적수준 분석 (Contribution of Road Capital in Industry and Optimal Level of Road Capital in South Korea)

  • PURPOSES: This study is to suggest the Contribution of Road Capital in Industry and Optimal Level of Road Investment in South Korea METHODS: Based on the literature review, This research is empirically estimated using disaggregate and disaggregated data composed of 10-sectors covering the entire korea economy for the period 1970~2000. The relevant policy questions addressed in this report are : cost reduction and Scale elasticities of road, effect of road capital stock on demand for labor, capital and materials, marginal effect of road, industry TFP growth decomposition, Net Social Rates of Returns, optimal of road capital. RESULTS : The marginal benefits of the road capital at the industry level were calculated using the estimated cost elasticities. Demand for the road capital services varies across industries as do the marginal effects. The marginal benefits are positive for the principal industries. This suggests that for these industries the existing stock of road capital may be under supplied. CONCLUSIONS: This results emerges is that the ratio of the optimum to actual road capital, measured by road, was high at beginning of the period 1970s and declined 1990s. There appears to be evidence of under-investment in road capital. That is continuous and premeditated investment for road which lead to saving time and finance.

  • Likelihood estimation in random-effect models is often complicated because the marginal likelihood involves an analytically intractable integral. Numerical integration such as Gauss-Hermite quadrature is an option, but is generally not recommended when the dimensionality of the integral is high. An alternative is the use of hierarchical likelihood, which avoids such burdensome numerical integration. These two approaches for fitting binary data are compared and the advantages of using the hierarchical likelihood are discussed. Random-effect models for binary outcomes and for bivariate binary-continuous outcomes are considered.

  • Accurate impression is very important to achieve desirable prosthesis and there are many factors in taking a good impression. For example, types of impression material, types of impression tray, impression taking methods and so on. Recently individual tooth tray technique is accepted as obtaining good impression that can be applied to multiple abutment impression, heavy salivated patient, to minimize the effect of natural teeth s undercuts and to reduce pain during cord packing procedures. The purpose of this study was to compare the accuracy according to materials and forms of the individual tooth tray which is clinically applied nowadays. Used materials in experiment were divided into 3 types (acrylic resin. $Futar^{(R)}$ occlusion. $Blu-mousse^{(R)}$) and forms were divided into 2 types (forming occlusal vent hole or not and forming marginal vent space or not). Stone master model from impression body and metal master model were measured by $X-PLAN360d^{(R)}$ to compare occlusal surface discrepancy and marginal discrepancy. The results were as follows: 1. In comparison of occlusal surface discrepancy and marginal discrepancy according to materials, groups with three materials showed no statistical difference 2. In comparison of occlusal surface discrepancy and marginal discrepancy according to occlusal vent hole, groups with occlusal vent hole showed significantly less marginal discrepancy than groups with no occlusal vent hole(p<0.05). 3. In comparison of occlusal surface discrepancy and marginal discrepancy according to 0.5mm-marginal-vent-space, groups with no 0.5mm-marginal-vent-space showed significantly less marginal discrepancy than groups with 0.5mm-marginal-vent-space (p<0.05). In summary these results suggest that individual tooth tray made of 3 types of materials with occlusal vent hole and individual tooth tray made of acrylic resin with no marginal vent space showed good accuracy of impression. In addition, individual tooth tray which is made of bite registration materials may be more useful because of advantage in facility and timesaving aspect of fabrication.

혼잡현상을 갖는 교통체계의 비용함수 (Cost Function of Congestion-Prone Transportation Systems)

  • 이 논문은 혼잡현상을 갖는 교통체계의 사회비용함수를 사회비용 최소화문제로부터 도출하여 분석하였다. 이 논문은 이 분야의 기존 연구에서 다루지 않았던 다음의 두 가지를 중점적으로 분석하였다. 하나는 이용자들의 시간가치가 다를 경우에 비용함수의 구조가 어떻게 달라지는지를 검토하는 것이고, 다른 하나는 사회비용함수를 구성하는 공급자 비용함수의 구조를 파악하는 것이었다. 분석의 결과는 다음과 같이 요약될 수 있다. 첫째, 한계사회비용은 특정한 시간가치를 가진 고객이 소비한 시간가치비용과 추가 고객의 처리에 수반되는 시스템 전체의 서비스시간 증가에 따른 한계혼잡비용으로 구성된다. 둘째, 한계혼잡비용은 공급자의 보상한계비용과 같은 바, 후자는 공급자가 추가의 고객을 가장 경제적으로 처리함에 필요한 용량의 변경에 의한 서비스시간의 변화 양에 대한 이용자 전체의 시간가치를 보상해준다는 전제아래서의 공급자 한계비용을 지칭한다. 셋째, 보상한계비용은 서비스시간함수가 산출과 용량에 대해 동차함수일 경우 한계용량비용에 시스템 이용률의 역수를 곱한 값과 같다.

  • 본 연구에서는 기술혁신 관점에서 창업기업 여부, 연구전담조직 보유, 국가연구개발사업 수혜 등의 특성이 한계기업의 정상기업 전환에 유의하게 기여하는지를 분석하였다. 분석결과, 한계기업 중 창업기업에게 국가연구개발사업을 지원하면, High-tech 산업을 중심으로 정상기업으로의 전환에 긍정적으로 기여하는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 한계기업의 연구전담조직의 보유여부가 정상기업으로의 전환에 긍정적으로 기여하였다. 이는 연구전담조직이 체계적인 R&D를 수행할 수 있는 조직기반이 되고 있음을 시사한다. 상기 분석결과는 한계기업에 대한 구조조정 위주의 기존 산업정책에서 정상기업으로의 전환 가능성이 높은 한계기업에 대한 선별적인 R&D 지원정책으로 패러다임 전환이 필요함과 동시에 한계기업의 정상기업으로의 전환을 지원하기 위한 국가연구개발사업의 전략성 강화가 필요함을 시사한다.

Marginal bone loss around crestal or subcrestal dental implants: prospective clinical study

  • Objectives: The stability of crestal bone has been reported as a major factor in the success of dental implants. Implants can be placed in an equicrestal (crestal) or subcrestal position. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of implant depth placement on marginal bone loss. Materials and Methods: The study was created in a split-mouth design. Immediately after implant surgery, digital parallel radiographs were prepared and levels of bone were measured where marginal bone loss and bone level changes occurred. These measurements were repeated at 3-month and 6-month follow-up periods. Results: In this interventional study, 49 implants were evaluated in 18 patients. Primary bone height was not significant between the intervention and control groups in both mesial and distal aspects at 3 months and 6 months from the baseline. The mean marginal bone loss on the mesial side was 1.03 mm in the subcrestal group and 0.83 mm in the crestal group. In addition, mean marginal bone loss on the distal side was 0.88 mm and 0.81 mm in the subcrestal and crestal groups, respectively. Marginal bone loss was not significantly different between sexes, the maxilla or mandible, and in the anterior or posterior regions as well as between different lengths and diameters of implants. Conclusion: Based on the results of this study, there was no significant difference in terms of marginal bone loss between crestal and subcrestal implants.
