New Synthetic Routes to Biologically Interesting Geranylated Acetophenones from Melicope Semecarpifolia and Their Unnatural Prenylated and Farnesylated Derivatives

  • This paper describes a new synthetic approach for biologically interesting geranylated acetophenones. The first total syntheses of 1-(5-geranyloxy-7-hydroxy-2,2-dimethyl-2H-chromen-8-yl)ethanone and 1-[5-geranyloxy-7-hydroxy-2-methyl-2-(4-methylpent-3-enyl)-2H-chromen-8-yl]ethanone, isolated from Melicope semecarpifolia, were carried out starting from commercially available 2,4,6-trihydroxyacetophenone.

On a New Theorem Involving the $\bar{H}$-function and a General Class of Polynomials

  • In this paper, we first establish an interesting theorem involving the $\bar{H}$-function introduced by Inayat-Hussain ([7], [8]). The convergence and existence condition, basic properties of this function were given by Buschman and Srivastava ([2]). Next, we obtain certain new integrals and an expansion formula by the application of our theorem. On account of the most general nature of the functions involved herein, our main findings are capable of yielding a large number of new, interesting and useful integrals, expansion formulae involving simple special functions and polynomials as their special cases. A known special case of our main theorem in also given ([11]).

  • The aim of this research note is to provide the sums of the series $$\sum_{k=0}^{\infty}(-1)^k\({{a-i}\atop{k}}\)\frac{1}{2^k(a+k+1)}$$ for $i$ = 0, ${\pm}1$,${\pm}2$,${\pm}3$,${\pm}4$,${\pm}5$. The results are obtained with the help of generalization of Bailey's summation theorem on the sum of a $_2F_1$ obtained earlier by Lavoie et al.. Several interesting results including those obtained earlier by Srivastava, Vowe and Seiffert, follow special cases of our main findings. The results derived in this research note are simple, interesting, easily established and (potentially) useful.

Excursion, Roaming and Migration of Hydrogen Atom during Dissociation of Formaldehyde

  • Several interesting features in trajectory were observed in the direct dynamics study of formaldehyde dissociation above radical dissociation limit. The hydrogen atom deliberately placed on the radical dissociation path can turn around at some distance from C without completion of dissociation and return to HCO moiety, colliding with it just as in a radical-radical recombination and producing a highly energized molecule. Excursion of a hydrogen atom to a distance of 6-8 bohrs and migration of a hydrogen atom back and forth between C and O are two of the most interesting features exhibited by the energized molecule. A series of excursions is seen to lead to a different kind of dissociation resembling roaming-like dissociation characterized by high vibrational excitation of $H_2$ fragment. It is suggested that excursion occurs due to involvement of two different force field systems that exhibit discontinuity in 6-8 bohrs from HCO moiety. We argue that roaming is a non-zero impact parameter version of the excursion.

  • A new and efficient synthetic approach is reported for biologically interesting prenylated chalcones, 4'-Omethylxanthohumol (3), xanthohumol E (4), and sericone (5) from 2,4,6-trihydroxyacetophenone. The strategies involve the introduction of a prenyl group onto an aryl ring, benzopyran formation, and basecatalyzed aldol reactions.

  • In optimization problems, computationally intensive or expensive simulations hinder the use of standard optimization techniques because the computational expense is too heavy to implement them at each iteration of the optimization algorithm. Therefore, those expensive simulations are often replaced with approximation models which can be evaluated nearly free. However, because of the limited accuracy of the approximation models, it is practically impossible to find an exact optimal point of the original problem. Significant efforts have been made to overcome this problem. The approximation models are sequentially updated during the iterative optimization process such that interesting design points are included. The interesting points have a strong influence on making the approximation model capture an overall trend of the original function or improving the accuracy of the approximation in the vicinity of a minimizer. They are successively determined at each iteration by utilizing the predictive ability of the approximation model. This paper will focuses on those approaches and introduces various approximation methods.

  • Motivated mainly by certain interesting recent extensions of the generalized hypergeometric function [Integral Transforms Spec. Funct. 23 (2012), 659-683] by means of the incomplete Pochhammer symbols $({\lambda};{\kappa})_{\nu}$ and $[{\lambda};{\kappa}]_{\nu}$, we first introduce incomplete Fox-Wright function. We then define the families of incomplete extended Hurwitz-Lerch Zeta function. We then systematically investigate several interesting properties of these incomplete extended Hurwitz-Lerch Zeta function which include various integral representations, summation formula, fractional derivative formula. We also consider an application to probability distributions and some special cases of our main results.

  • The feasibility of magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) Ship propulsion using superconduction magnets is reviewed in light of recent advances in high-temperature superconducting. The propulsion using a screw propeller in the noise reduction has it's own limitation. The epochal noiseless MHD propulsion method which does not have this disadvantage is studying nowadays. The subject of a marine MHD as propulsion has been examined before and was found to be interesting because of relatively low magnetic flux densities. It is demonstrated that the MHD propulsion is technically interesting with high magnetic flux density. The development of large-scale magnets using the high-temperature superconductors now under development could make it practical to construct submersibles for high-speed and silent operation.

  • 이 논문에서는 기존의 number-theoretic 순환함수와 연계된 word-theoretic 순환함수 및 술어(predicates)들의 Grzegorzyk 클래스를 논한다. 특히 small 클래스 $\xi\sum{n}$($n\leq2$)에서의 특성은 그에 대응하는 number-theoretic small 클래스 $\xi\sum{n}$과는 매우 틀린 특성을 보인다 [2]. 흥미 있는 문제 중의 하나인 $\xi\sum{0}$ 등급에서의 동치문제는 undecidable 임을 증명한다.
