  • Stone's theorem states that "A bounded linear operator A is infinitesimal generator of a $C_0$-group of unitary operators on a Hilbert space H if and only if iA is self adjoint". In this paper we establish a generalization of Stone's theorem in the framework of Hilbert $C^*$-modules.

  • This article focused the meaning of Pythagoras' and Euclid's proof about the Pythagorean theorem in a historical and mathematical perspective. Pythagoras' proof using similarity is based on the arithmetic assumption about commensurability. However, Euclid proved the Pythagorean theorem again only using the concept of dissection-rearrangement that is purely geometric so that it does not need commensurability. Pythagoras' and Euclid's different approaches to geometry have to do with Birkhoff's axiom system and Hilbert's axiom system in the school geometry Birkhoff proposed the new axioms for plane geometry accepting real number that is strictly defined. Thus Birkhoff's metrical approach can be defined as a Pythagorean approach that developed geometry based on number. On the other hand, Hilbert succeeded Euclid who had pursued pure geometry that did not depend on number. The difference between the proof using similarity and dissection-rearrangement is related to the unsolved problem in the geometry curriculum that is conflict of Euclid's conventional synthetical approach and modern mathematical approach to geometry.

  • In this paper we give several necessary and sufficient conditions for an operator on the Hilbert space to obey Browder's theorem. And it is shown that if S has totally finite ascent and $T{\prec}S$ then $f(T)$ obeys Browder's theorem for every $f{\in}H({\sigma}(T))$, where $H({\sigma}(T))$ denotes the set of all analytic functions on an open neighborhood of ${\sigma}(T)$.

  • The development of recent Mathematical Logic is mostly originated in Hilbert's Proof Theory. The purpose of the plan so called Hilbert's Program lies in the formalization of mathematics by formal axiomatic method, rescuing classical mathematics by means of verifying completeness and consistency of the formal system and solidifying the foundations of mathematics. In 1931, the completeness encounters crisis by the existence of undecidable proposition through the 1st Theorem of G?del, and the establishment of consistency faces a risk of invalidation by the 2nd Theorem. However, relative of partial realization of Hilbert's Program still exists as a fruitful research program. We have tried to bring into relief through Curry-Howard Correspondence the fact that Hilbert's program serves as source of power for the growth of mathematical constructivism today. That proof in natural deduction is in truth equivalent to computer program has allowed the formalization of mathematics to be seen in new light. In other words, Hilbert's program conforms best to the concept of algorithm, the central idea in computer science.

  • In this work, the three-step intermixed iteration for two finite families of nonlinear mappings is introduced. We prove a strong convergence theorem for approximating a common fixed point of a strict pseudo-contraction and strictly pseudononspreading mapping in a Hilbert space. Some additional results are obtained. Finally, a numerical example in a space of real numbers is also given and illustrated.

  • In this note we investigate Weyl's theorem for *-paranormal operators on a separable infinite dimensional Hilbert space. We prove that if T is a *-paranormal operator satisfying Property $(E)-(T-{\lambda}I)H_T(\{{\lambda}\})$ is closed for each ${\lambda}{\in}{\mathbb{C}}$, where $H_T(\{{\lambda}\})$ is a local spectral subspace of T, then Weyl's theorem holds for T.

  • Let $\mathcal{H}$ be a complex separable infinite dimensional Hilbert space. In this paper, a necessary and sufficient condition is given for an operator T on $\mathcal{H}$ to satisfy that $f(T)$ obeys generalized Weyl's theorem for each function $f$ analytic on some neighborhood of ${\sigma}(T)$. Also we investigate the stability of generalized Weyl's theorem under (small) compact perturbations.
