  • The Korean economic condition needs continuous development of the marine product industries basically, and for this purpose a study on the education and training system of the technical manpower for this field is required. Moreover, the sea and its resources are not only to be utilized these days but also to be conserved for our descendants. To achieve this goal, the national support and the people's understanding on the marine product industries are very important at the first, and also the fisheries education must be activated to educate and train the technical manpower who will engage in this industrial field in the future. Especially it is necessary to develop and operate the most appropriate curricula drawn up inconsideration of each local characteristics for the fisheries education at the middle schools and high schools in Korea.

  • Korea National College of Agriculture and Fisheries start school at 1997 and 10 for 2,066 people graduate and is becoming the help in youth agriculture and fishery manager education. But recently according to industrial functional staff institutional abolition policy of the government is forecast with the fact that will have a failure to agriculture and fishery manager education. Korea National College of Agriculture and Fisheries was founded for a succession agriculture and fishery manager education. When but while attending military service is under and the education which is continuous is difficult. When after college graduating the reeducation for the agriculture which goes to the military service is necessary. Also Part of the graduate can not participate to agriculture and fishery. This is consistency lack of governmental policy and there is worry which will be criticized. According to FTA agreements the damage is forecast in agriculture and Fisheries. Also prevents the instability of the food supply and which follows in global environment change, respects the stable supply of the foodstuffs which is safe from the agriculture and Fisheries support of the nation is necessary. Consequently proposed the military service substitution institutional plan for the agriculture fishery successor.

A Study on Awareness of Food Additives and Nutrition Education in High School Students (고등학생들의 식품첨가물에 대한 인식 및 영양교육의 실태 분석)

  • The purpose of this study consists in analyzing the reality of processed food intake by students in different educational environments such as fisheries maritime high schools and general high schools and their awareness of food additives and investigating the reality of nutrition education. In order to achieve this purpose, we selected a total of 400 students as the subjects of this study from fisheries high schools located in Busan, Incheon, Gyeongbuk, Chungbuk and Jeonnam and general high schools located in Busan, Gyeonggi and Jeonnam. The findings of this study are summarized as follows. First, when analyzing the reality of fisheries Maritime and general high school students' processed food intake, in terms of the gender difference, the female students indicated a higher processed food intake frequency than the male students and in terms of the school types, the fisheries Maritime and general high school students showed an almost similar processed food intake frequency. Second, seeing that most female and male students were aware that the food additives were unsafe substances. Third, when analyzing the reality of nutrition education, there were more students who had not received a nutrition education than the students who had received a nutrition education.

  • The purpose of this study is to provide the basics of effective Fisheries and Merchant Marine High School education by analyzing Fisheries and Merchant Marine High School students' perceptions about their educational environment and school education. To achieve the purpose of this research, the study carried out a survey targeting 350 Fisheries and Merchant Marine High School students. The findings are as follows: First, the perceptions about instructions of department is generally positive. And they demand expansion of practice instruction. Second, the perceptions about curriculum is generally positive. And they demand field-experience learning. Third, the perceptions about school management and administration is generally positive. But they dissatisfied with considering their opinion about school management and administration. Fourth, the perceptions about counselling and personality guidance is generally positive. And the efforts to stop school violence are valued most positive. But the satisfaction in club activities is relatively low, so we need to come up with measure to increase club activities.

  • The aim of this study is to research attributes of fishermen's occupational accidents for investigating the measure of risk control on situational condition in the Korean offshore and coastal fishing vessel. Using data of fishermen's occupational accidents are from National federation of fisheries cooperatives for 2013. The results were as belows; Occupational accident occurrence rate was 29.5‰, slips & trips and struck by object and contact with gear were shown severe occurrence pattern. Occupational accident occurrence rate of offshore fisheries was 130.2‰, coastal was 16.9‰, specially the risk rates were severely high in several type of danish seine, stow net and offshore trap. Death rate by accidents was 10.6‰ and by fall into the water in occurrence pattern was 5.5‰.

  • In line with post-1970s industrialization, the manpower shortage in fishing villages has been fueled by rapid desertion; young adults and middle-aged people have tended to avoid fishing by migrating to cities, driving the emergence of a national issue in terms of securing fisheries management succession. For the fisheries industry to maintain competitiveness, we need to cultivate young adults and middle-aged people to be leaders of the domestic fishing industry through promoting inspiration for the fishing industry, teaching fisheries expert knowledge, and fostering the ability to promote business. In addition to safe supply of marine products through continued fisheries operation, securing young and skilful workers is essential in order to promote balance development of domestic industries, including job creation. The study therefore seeks to provide measures to foster specialists in order to enable the transfer of management through an opinion survey of fishermen. To cultivate specialists for enabling the transfer of management, the following solution should be promoted at the state level. First, to support the introduction of young and talented workers to the fisheries industry through transfer of management, Second, in order to enable the transfer of management, change is required first in the fisheries industry for it to become a value-added industry. Third, despite fisheries being a composite industry that is syncretized to tertiary industries from primary industries, the fisheries industry is still recognized as a labor intensive industry, which reflects the current status of fisheries education.

  • The purpose of the study is to improve in-service fisheries & shipping affiliate teachers informative and professional presentation. The sensible solution to this problem is to analyze about the opinion of in-service fisheries & shipping affiliate teachers about Certification Training Program during 10 years. We provide the suggestion about the coming certification training program that satisfy the need of the trainee and that can be effectively applied into practical teaching movement in school. According to these conclusion, it is estimated that in-service fisheries & marine teacher don't have the negative view of certification training program. By the way Combination subject education program was significantly improved by developing the program on the basis of the fisheries & shipping affiliate teachers' opinion.

  • The purpose of this study is to design of prototype for developing webpage of fisheries and marine education especially in the field of Busan area. For this, we extract the guideline for development from literature review, need and task analysis, and advices of subject domain experts. Followings were the results of the research: (a) We make the prototype for main menu and screen based on institute, time, subject, and location. (b) We make the prototype for program approach guide, which is consisted of location based menu constructing prototype guide, activation prototype guide, and selection prototype guide. (c) We make the prototype for functional guide, which is consisted of information section, participation section and other sections.

  • Aquaculture pollution is a major concern among the entrepreneurs, farmers and researchers. Excess discharge of phosphorus and nitrogen into the water bodies is the principal pollutant responsible for this. Plant-based feed ingredients due to its high phytic acid content enhances both nitrogen and phosphorus discharge thereby increasing the pollution level. Dietary phytase treatment is probably the best answer to address this problem. This review explains the nature and properties of phytate, its interactions with other nutrients and the application of phytase in aquafeed to reduce the pollution. This review also covers the different biotechnological aspects for lowering the phytic acid level in the common aquafeed ingredients, as an alternate approach to controlling the pollution level. Some of future research needs have also been highlighted to attract the attention of more researchers to this area.

The Effects and Continuum of CPR Education Program on CPR Knowledge, Attitude and Performance in Seafarers (심폐소생술 교육프로그램이 선박승무원의 심폐소생술 지식, 태도 및 수행능력에 미치는 효과와 지속성)

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of CPR education programs on seafarers and the retention period of the knowledge. The subjects of this study were 40 seafarers who took safety training courses at the Korea Institute of Maritime and Fisheries Technology. The seafarers were tested for their knowledge and attitude before, immediately after, 1 month after, and 3 months after the CPR education program. Data were analyzed for frequency, percentage, ${\chi}^2-test$, and t-test, and ANOVA was measured repeatedly using an SPSS statistical program. Knowledge, attitude, and performance ability were significantly increased post-education as compared to pre-education. Knowledge, attitude and performance ability were consistent when tested after 1 month, but knowledge, attitude, and performance ability were significantly decreased when tested three months later. Therefore, to maintain knowledge, attitude, and skills in performing CPR, appropriate renewal times are necessary in regular seafarers' safety training centers and sailing vessels.
