  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine relationships between academic achievement, clinical competence, and confidence in the clinical performance of nursing students, and to identify factors that influence them. Methods: This was a descriptive correlation study. Data were collected from 118 nursing students at a nursing college in Seoul. One-way variance analysis, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and multiple linear regression analysis were used to examine relationships between academic achievement, clinical competence, and confidence in clinical performance. Results: Clinical competence was related to academic achievement in students' previous semester and to students' academic scores in a fundamental of nursing course. Clinical competence showed a weak positive correlation with academic achievement in students' previous semester and academic scores in a fundamental of nursing course in both evaluations by the professor and students' self-evaluations. However, confidence in clinical performance had no significant correlation with academic achievement. The factor affecting the clinical competence was academic scores in a fundamental of nursing course, and factors affecting confidence in clinical performance were health status, personality, major suitability, and class satisfaction in a fundamental of nursing skills course. Conclusion: These findings indicate that students with high academic achievement have better clinical performance, but confidence in clinical performance is not related to academic achievement.

For this purpose, 556 questionnaires were used for the final analysis by using convenience extraction method for middle and high school students. For statistical analysis, descriptive statistics for each factor were presented using PASW ver. 18.0 program, and exploratory factor analysis and reliability analysis were conducted for factor extraction and item internal consistency confirmation. Furthermore, a multiple regression analysis was conducted to clarify the relation between physical competence and satisfaction of class, and the results were as follows: First, feedback factors influenced the relationship between physical competence and teaching behavior. Second, athletic performance, victory, peer comparison factor, etc. influenced the relationship between physical competence and satisfaction of class. Third, the feedbacks and the experience factors influenced the relationship between the physical competence and the physical environment. Fourth, feedback factors also influenced the relationship between physical competence and athletic ability.

  • Purpose - An appreciable number of small- and medium-sized exporters have continuously succeeded in their export marketplaces even though they do not possess enough resources. Advocating that affiliation with an export service-provider plays an important role in this phenomenon, we aimed to theoretically explain how export service providers' competences and relational factors drive small- and medium-sized exporters' competitive advantages in the long-run. Design/methodology - Drawing prominently on the resource-based view and the relationship-marketing theory, we built an empirically testable model. The model showed the roles of exporter capabilities, export service-provider competences, and relational factors on small- and medium-sized exporters' sustainable competitive advantages. Findings - The results of our research showed that exporter production and branding capabilities positively influenced their sustainable competitive advantage. In addition, export service-providers' marketing competence and relationship-building competence positively moderated the effects of exporter capabilities on their parties' sustainable competitive advantages. Finally, affiliation parties' interfirm trust and relationship commitment positively moderated the effects of export service-provider competence on the relationship between exporter capabilities and sustainable competitive advantages. Originality/value - Although prior studies have highlighted the effects of an exporter's resources on export performance, our research filled a knowledge gap of the effects of other resources on export performance. First, we proposed two types of export service-provider, competence marketing and relationship-building, influencing exporters' competitive advantage. Second, the effects of relational factors were proposed in the context of export affiliations.

  • This study explored the composition and attributes of modeling instructions and factors of teacher competence in elementary science classes. The study also examined educational research papers regarding modeling instruction cases in elementary schools and elementary teachers' perceptions of modeling instructions using qualitative meta-analysis, which can integrate findings from qualitative research. This investigation led to creating a small group to compose modeling instructions. Furthermore, the modeling approach was demonstrated to go through the process of generating, evaluating, and modifying the model. The attributes of modeling instructions can be divided into factors that affect modeling instructions and competence factors necessary for students participating in modeling instructions. The factors affecting modeling instructions included "small group interactions" and "time limitation in classes." The competence factors necessary for students participating in modeling instructions included "scientific knowledge," "meta-modeling knowledge," and the "ability to control emotions." The teacher competence factors in modeling instructions regarding knowledge, function, and attitude were explored. The teacher competence factors in elementary modeling instructions included "meta-modeling knowledge," "knowledge of modeling assessment," "emotional support for students," and the "awareness of modeling value." Accordingly, this study offered some recommendations for effective modeling instructions.

  • This study sought to examine the factors influencing clinical competence of dental hygienists. A survey on burnout, critical thinking tendency, self-esteem, self-leadership, professional self-concept and clinical competence was conducted with 254 dental hygienists using self-administered questionnaires. Correlation analysis was performed between study variables, and linear regression analysis identified factors influencing clinical competence. To determine a causal relationship among these factors, a path analysis was conducted at the 0.05 level of significance. Relationships among research variables showed significant positive correlations (p<0.01). Self-esteem, self-leadership, and professional self-concept were found to influence clinical competence (p<0.01). A causal relationship was also found among variables influencing clinical competence. Burnout and critical thinking had an indirect effect, whereas self-esteem, professional self-concept, and self-leadership had both direct and indirect effects. In conclusion, important factors influencing clinical competence of dental hygienists include self-esteem, self-leadership, and professional self-concept. Based on these findings, programs to enhance clinical competence of dental hygienists should be developed.

  • This research considers to analyze the importance and priority order of outsourcing partner selecting factors on plant exporters. This research deals with case study on the outsourcing in the "A" plants exporter. To obtain the goal this research, firstly, based on reviewing previous literature and taking professional advice, the selecting factors were identified and conceptualized, and we made the hierarchy model and utilized AHP in analysis method. Secondly, AHP model constructed 3 higher factors, and 9 lower factors. Thirdly, the data used for the weight values for the outsourcing partner factors were collected from outsourcing experts and officers in "A" company. The 3 higher factors were 'Firm's Competence', 'Customer/User Factor', and 'Systemic Factor', and the 9 lower factors were 'experience of outsourcing', 'competency based HR', 'market share', 'reliability', and 'communication', etc. As the results of the analysis, this research evaluated with an importance highest among selecting factors of outsourcing partner of "A" company were 'Customer/User Factor(46.5%)', 'Systemic Factor(27.8%)' and 'Firm's Competence(25.7%)'. And importance highest among lower selecting factors of outsourcing partner of "A" company were 'reliability(31.4%)', 'competency based HR(14.4%)' and 'communication(13.7%)'. The developed model and selecting factors of outsourcing partner are expected to contribute on effective decisions on plants exporters. Managerial implications and future research directions are suggested based on findings.

Data collection was performed from Dec. 11th, 2019 to Dec. 13th. A total of 119 4th grade nursing students were selected. Data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Scheffé test, Pearson's correlation and stepwise multiple regression analysis using SPSS 25.0. As a result of this study, the correlated factors of clinical competence included responsibility(r=.53, p<.001), critical thinking disposition(r=.71, p<.001). The factors influencing clinical competence were critical thinking disposition(𝛽=.56, p<.001), responsibility(𝛽=.32, p<.001), and clinical practice satisfaction(𝛽=.13, p=.012). These factors accounted for 52% of the clinical competence(p<.001). Therefore, it is necessary to develop and apply educational programs so that concrete and practical education for reinforcing critical thinking disposition and responsibility can be performed together with clinical practice.
