The Relationship of the Encouragement Group Counseling Program on Self-Efficacy and Subjective Well-Being of University Students (격려집단상담 프로그램과 대학생의 자기효능감과 주관적 안녕감과의 관계)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze university student's standard of self-efficacy and subjective well-being by the Encouragement Group Counseling Program which would be able to help the students to secure their reaction capability on changing social environment as well as school adaption. Thus, this study investigated how an application of the Encouragement Group Counseling Program affects on university students' self-efficacy and subjective well-being. As a result, it was revealed that the application of the Encouragement Group Counseling Program has a significant influence on both self-efficacy and subjective well-being. It seemed that people can be positive and have both self-confidence and psychological stability when they are encouraged. Therefore, this study suggested a necessity of the Encouragement Group Counseling Program which supports undergraduate students to have encouragement themselves.

The Effects of Adlerian Encouragement Program on the Interpersonal Satisfaction, Self-efficacy and Self-esteem among Elementary School Students (아들러 심리학에 기반한 격려 프로그램이 초등학생의 대인관계 만족도, 자기효능감, 자아존중감에 미치는 효과)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of Adlerian Encouragement Program on the interpersonal satisfaction, self-efficacy and self-esteem among elementary school students. The program was consisted of 8 sessions: 1st session was for introducing programs and making positive nicknames, 2nd~5th sessions were for abandoning inferiority and discouraged thoughts, displaying posters of success experiences, creating merit trees, 6th~7th sessions were for self-encouragement and other people encouragement, 8th session was for closing the program. Subjects were 40 students who were the fifth grader students at I elementary school in G city. The subjects were divided into an experimental group(N=21) and a control group(N=19). All participants were asked to complete the Interpersonal Satisfaction scale(Kim, 2010), Self-efficacy scale(Han, 2003) and Self-esteem scale(Choi & Jeon, 1993). The pretest and post-test were taken in order to verify the effectiveness of the program. The data were analyzed with ANCOVA. The results are as follows: the Adlerian Encouragement Program had a significant impact on interpersonal satisfaction and self-esteem but didn't show a significant impact on self-efficacy. The study confirmed that the Adlerian Encouragement Program had a significant effect on interpersonal satisfaction and self-esteem of elementary school students, suggesting the encouragement, a key technique in Adlerian psychology, is an important educational philosophy and method for healthy development and democratic class management.

The Effects of Home connected Praise and Encouragement Programs on Children's Interpersonal Relationships and Subjective Well-being (가정연계 칭찬.격려프로그램이 초등학생의 대인관계 및 주관적안녕감에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the home connected praise and encouragement program which it affects the interpersonal relationships and subjective well-being of elementary children. To achieve this purpose, 58 fifth grade students were measured based on the interpersonal relationships and subjective well-being scale. Then 29 students were placed in the experimental group while the other 29 children were placed in the control group. The experimental group participated in home connected praise and encouragement program, the control group didn't. The quantitative analysis results verifying the effects of the program were as follows: The experimental group treated by the home connected praise and encouragement program showed significant improvement in interpersonal relationships and subjective well-being compared to the control group. Follows are results from qualitative analysis. First, children have increased positive personal relations with companion, parents, teacher, and improved closeness with family by the home connected praise and encouragement program. Second, children have increased edification of self-confidence, satisfaction in school and home by them. These results supported our hypothesis that the home connected praise and encouragement program effectively improved interpersonal relationships and subjective well-being of elementary school children.

A Comparison of Chest Compression Quality According to 2 Rescuers' Teamwork-Oriented Encouragement Method in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation(CPR) Guidelines for 2010 (2010년 심폐소생술 가이드라인에서 2인 구조자의 팀워크 중심의 격려방법에 따른 가슴압박 질 비교)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine difference in quality of chest compression according to encouragement method of focusing on two rescuers' teamwork in CPR guideline for 2010. Subjects were randomly extracted the Dept. Emergency Medical Technology students who completed the curriculum of CPR. A group was divided into the group with one-time encouragement(33 people) and the group with continuous encouragement(33 people). Measurement period was progressed from April 30, 2012 to May 7. The collected data were analyzed with SPSS WIN program(version 12.0). As a result of research, the accuracy of chest compression(time, %) was higher(p<.05) in the group with one-time encouragement(118.72 times, 78.54%) than the group with continuous encouragement(95.12 times, 62.96%). As for the recognition of subjective concentration, the recognition as saying of being helpful for concentration was higher(p<.05) in the group with one-time encouragement(3.90 points) than the group with continuous encouragement(3.12 points). Even as for the recognition of subjective fatigue relief, the recognition as saying of being helpful for fatigue relief was higher(p<.05) in the group with one-time encouragement(3.96 points) than the group with continuous encouragement(3.30 points).

Development of an Educational Program for the Management of Menopause and It로s Effect (폐경관리를 위한 교육프로그램 개발과 그 효과에 관한 연구)

  • The two objectives of this study were 1) to develop an educational program based on the Self-Efficacy Theory(SET) of Bandura, and 2) to investigate the effects of the educational program on the management of menopause. The investigation process of this study was done in two phases. The first phase was to development an educational program through video tape. A telephone coaching program served as a follow-up to the educational video program and provided encouragement and support to the subjects. The second phase was the experimental stage. This experimentation was conducted to determine whether an educational program based on theory of Bandura would increase self-efficacy and management of menopause. Results : The developed video consisted of 2 parts. Part one discussed symtoms and management of menopause. Part two reflected the vicarious step-by-step success of middle-aged women's of menopause through the effective use of the 5 factors mentioned above. Telephone coaching program served as a followed to the educational video program and provided encouragement and support to the subjects. Total length of video is 32 minutes. Hypothesis stated in phase two were supported by the following result. Experimental group increased general-self-efficacy scores. Experimental group increased concrete-self-efficacy scores. Experimental group increased objective and subjective management of menopause scale.

Effects of Defecation Encouragement Program in Patients Undergoing total Knee Replacement Arthroplasty (배변 격려 프로그램이 인공 슬관절 전치환술 환자의 배변에 미치는 효과)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of applying a defecation encouragement program for patients undergoing total knee replacement arthroplasty (TKRA). Methods: This program was based on the nursing best practice guideline: prevention of constipation in the older adult population by the National Guideline Clearing House (NGC) in 2011, which included fluid intake, bowel training, and abdominal and pelvic floor exercises. A team of one orthopaedic clinical nurse specialist and six orthopaedic nurses with a 10 years of clinical experience applied and assisted patients with the program. Formal counsel was provided by one orthopaedic doctor, one gastroenterologist, and one exercise therapist. Patients who defecated one day prior to or on the day of TKRA surgery were included. Data collected from 72 subjects were analyzed using SPSS/WIN 21.0. Results: Time until first defecation after surgery was 2.4±1.1 days in experimental group, which was significantly shorter than the 3.5±0.9 days in control group (t=4.28, p<.001). Constipation assessment scale showed significantly lower points (t=2.55, p=.013) in experimental group (1.3±1.2) compared to control group (2.6±2.6). The experimental group and control group were 17.3±7.67 and 23.7±14.43, respectively, and the experimental group used less laxatives (t=2.83, p=.021). Conclusion: A defecation encouragement program was proved to be an appropriate nursing intervention for patients undergoing TKRA. This study confirmed that constipation is a nursing problem that can be sufficiently prevented if nurses are interested and encourage defecation.

The Structural Relationship Among Teacher Attachment, Peer Attachment, Self-encouragement, Career Self-efficacy and Career Maturity (초등학생의 교사애착, 또래애착, 자기격려, 진로자기효능감과 진로성숙도간의 구조적 관계)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the structural relationship model between teacher attachment, peer attachment, self-encouragement, career self-efficacy, and career maturity and to analyze the direct or indirect effect among latent variables. 220 elementary school students in a Cheongju were sampled. Four measurement instruments were employed; the Teacher Attachment Peer Attachment Scale, Self-encouragement Scale, the Career self-efficacy and the Career Maturity scale. The Collected data were analyzed by correlation and regression alalysis with SPSS program and Structural Equation major Modeling(SEM) and fitness of the final model were CFI=.957, TLI=.951, RMSEA=.049. The results of this study were as follows: First, there were significant positive correlations among teacher attachment, peer attachment, self-encouragement, career self-efficacy, and career maturity. Second, according to the structural equation modeling, the results showed that self-encouragement and career self-efficacy mediated the effect of teacher attachment, peer attachment on career maturity.

Development and Evaluation of a Parent-Child Reading Interaction Program (부모-자녀 독서상호작용 프로그램 개발 및 평가)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop and evaluate a parent-child reading interaction program. Based on the importance of the parent-child relationship and the home literacy environment vis-a-vis the extent to which reading is encouraged, and with regard to the existing empirical research in this field, a five-session parent-child reading interaction program has been developed, targeting 18 parents with children enrolled in th lower grades of elementary school. The effectiveness of this program has been evaluated by a pretest and post test and then analyzed by a paired t-test. The findings are as follows: 1) Following the implementation of this program, there were improvements in scores related to the home literacy environment, the encouragement of reading, and the attitude of the child toward reading. 2) In addition, there was an increase in the level of the mother's "rational guidance" parenting while tendencies toward overprotective and hostile parenting traits declined. The importance of the parent-child relationship and home literacy environment concerning reading guidance was discussed.

The Influence of Educare Teachers' Self-encouragement and Social Support on Psychological Burnout (보육교사의 자기격려와 사회적 지지가 심리적 소진에 미치는 영향)

  • Objective: The purpose of this study was to verify the influence of educare teachers' self-encouragement and social support on their psychological burnout. Methods: This study was 329 educare teachers working in Jeju Special Self-Governing Province. The questionnaire for this study (self-encouragement scales, social support scales, and psychological burnout scales) was conducted and t-test, F-test, Turkey post test, Pearson Correlation analysis, simple regression analysis and multiple regression analysis was conducted by using the SPSS windows 18.0 program. Research results of analysis were as follows. Results: First, the difference of self-encouragement of educare teachers was remarkable according to age group and that of social support noticeable according to age group and career while that of psychological burnout was noticeable according to age group and marital status. Second, educare teachers' self-encouragement and social support has negative correlation with their psychological burnout. Third, educare teachers' self-encouragement and social support affect their psychological burnout in negative manner. In particular, self-encouragement functions, more than social support, as a main factor in reducing psychological burnout. Conclusion/Implications: These results can be utilized as basic data for developing education and counselling programs designed to provide emotional stability for educare teachers and help them give more positive child-care service.

Development of an Efficacy Expectation Promoting Program for the Management of Menopause and its Effect (폐경관리를 위한 효능기대증진 프로그램 개발과 그 효과에 관한 연구)

  • The two objectives of this study were 1) to develop an efficacy expectation promoting program for the management of menopause based on the self-efficacy theory of Bandura(1977), and 2) to investigate the effects of the efficacy expectation promoting program for the management of menopause. The first phase was to development an efficacy expectation promoting program through video tape. A telephone coaching program served as a follow-up to the efficacy expectation promoting program which provided encouragement and support to the subjects. The second phase was the experimental stage. This experimentation was conducted to determine whether an efficacy expectation promoting program based on theory of Bandura would increase the self-efficacy and the management of menopause. Results : The video which we developed consisted of 2 parts. Part one discussed the symptoms and the management of menopause. Part two reflected the vicarious step-by-step success of middle-aged women's menopause management. The telephone coaching program served as a follow up to the efficacy expectation promoting program and provided encouragement and support to the subjects. The total length of the video is 50 minutes. The hypotheses stated in phase two were supported by following results : In the two experimental groups consisting of the natural and artificial menopause groups both demonstrated significant increase in their general and concrete self-efficacy scores. In the experimental groups, both the objective and subjective menopause management scores increased n the natural and artificial menopause experimental groups. In conclusion, it was found that an efficacy expectation promoting program was an effective nursing intervention for increasing self-efficacy and management of menopause.
