The effects of demographic variables(including school grades of children) on the mothers' parenting stress were also investigated. The main results were as follows. First, ego-resilience of mothers was found to have the greatest predictive power on mothers' parenting stress. The more ego-resilient the mothers were, the less parenting stress was perceived. Second, social support also played an important role in alleviating maternal parenting stress. Emotional support of spouses was particularly effective in reducing mothers' parenting stress. Third, the only demographic variable that influenced mothers' parenting stress was their children's academic achievements. Finally, mothers perceived high parenting stress in relation to their children's school grades, while they perceived relatively less parenting stress concerning their children's temperament or the relationship with their children. The implications of these results were discussed.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to verify the direct influences of the risk factors of the family environment on the problem behaviors of early adolescents, and the indirect influences of the same by the mediation of ego resilience. Method: After random extraction of five elementary schools located in D metropolitan city, we conducted a survey of 5th and 6th-grade male and female students. For the analysis, we used data from the questionnaire results of 450 students. For the data analysis, we performed t-test of independent samples, one-way ANOVA, path analysis and Sobel test, utilizing SPSS/WIN 19.0 program. Result: The direct influence of the risk factors of the family environment on the problem behaviors of the early adolescents was 0.447, while the indirect influence by the mediation of ego resilience was 0.146. Conclusion: It was found that the risk factors of the family environment not only exert direct influences on the problem behaviors of early adolescents, they also have indirect influences on the problem behaviors of early adolescents by way of the mediation of ego resilience.

Methods: The subjects were 673 nurses with clinical experience with more than 1 year working in general hospitals in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do, from February1 to June 30, 2016. The collected data were analyzed with t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation and multiple regression anaby using SAS (9.4ver). Results: The factors affecting the turnover intention of career nurses were identified by age, current hopes of moving to the workimg department, and career planning. These variables accounted for 18% of career nurses' turnover intentions. Conclusions: The results of this study suggest that the higher the degree of career planning of career nurses, the lower the turnover intention. However, ego-resilience did not show the influence of turnover intention. There is a need to develop a career management program that enhances ego-resilience and systematic career planning to reduce turnover intentions.

  • Many adolescents in high schools are experiencing school maladjustment by academic stress under the reality of higher-education-oriented schooling. A review of studies of academic stress and school adjustment reveals that ego-optimism is predicted as one of the moderating variables to help adolescents lessen academic stress and increase their school adjustment. The main purpose of this study was to verify the moderating effects of ego-resilience on the relationship between academic stress and school adjustment of adolescents. For this, 496 high school students of tenth and eleventh grade were respectively collected through cluster sampling to be surveyed, and then correlation analysis and moderated regression analysis were conducted. The major findings were as follows. First, there was a negative relationship between academic stress and school adjustment and between academic stress and ego-resilience, but a positive relationship between school adjustment and ego-resilience. Second, the moderating effects of ego-resilience on the relationship between academic stress and school adjustment were not found, although optimism, one of ego-resilience's sub-factors, had a significant moderating effect on them, implying that adolescents' optimism should be enhanced to lessen academic stress and ensure they have a successful school life. The study concludes that optimism is a protective factor for school adjustment caused academic stress and thus schools need to make active efforts to enhance their students' optimism.

  • This study was conducted to provide the basis for the establishment of various youth policies by analyzing and validating the mediated effects of ego resilience on the impact of adolescents' self-rated health on life satisfaction. The population consisted of a nationally representative sample of adolescents(n=1,979) in high school first grade student who completed the Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey(KCYPS) in 2016. The study analyzed the data by descriptive analysis, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients and path modeling, using the SPSS and AMOS program. The result is following; Self-rated health has significant effects of ego-resilience(β=.26, p<.05). Self-rated health(β=.18, p<.05) and ego-resilience(β=.45, p<.05) have shown significant implications for life satisfaction. In addition, ego-resilience have been shown to be partial mediation effect between Self-rated health and life satisfaction. The results revealed that the adolescents who scored high on self-rated health were better the life satisfaction, and ego-resilience partially mediated the relationship between self-rated health and life satisfaction in adolescents. In order to increase the life satisfaction for adolescent, it was confirmed that a multi-dimensional approach is needed to consider the self-rated health as well as self-resilience.
