  • A model following control system(MFCS) can give general output signals following desired ones. In previous studies, a method of nonlinear MFCS was proposed by S.Okubo[1]. In this paper, the method of nonlinear MFCS will be extended to discrete time nonlinear systems. It is easy to extend the method to discrete time systems. But in the case .gamma.=1 discrete time systems, the proof becomes difficult, because the transfer function from f(v(k)) to v(k) can't be a positive real function. In this case, to ensure that internal states are stable, a new criterion is proposed.

  • This paper considers discrete-time two-class Ge $o^{X/}$G/1 queues with preemptive repeat priority. Service times of messages of each priority class are i.i.d. according to a general discrete distribution function that may differ between two classes. Completion times are derived for the preemptive repeat identical and different priority disciplines. By using the completion time, the stability condition for our system is investigated.d.

  • The finite time optimum regulation problem of a discrete time bilinear system with a quadratic performance criterion is obtained in terms of a sequence discrete algebraic Lyapunov equations. Our new method is based on the successive approximations. This algorithm saves the computation time to solve the optimal problem, and the design procedure is illustrated for an example.

  • The disturbance observer(DOB) has been widely used in high speed and high precision motion control applications and the characteristics of DOB have been investigated in depth. Though most of DOB's have been implemented as the discrete-time form in digital devices, we are still short of the researches on discrete-time DOB (DDOB) in spite of rich references on continuous-time DOB. In this paper, we discuss about the disturbance rejection property and measurement noise effect of discrete-time DOB. Especially, we will focus on revealing the role of sampling time in designing the discrete-time DOB and show the validity of analysis through simulations and experiments for optical disk drive systems.

  • This paper describes a consideration on the sampling in linearly time-varying (LTV) systems in view of the convenience in digital signal processing. The relation between a continuous-time and a discrete-time system models is investigated for a simple linear time-invariant system. Based on the results of the investigation, we first consider discrete-time models for LTV systems, Then the simplicity of the models in terms of microprocessor-based digital signal processing is compared.

  • In this paper a discrete time model for the identification of nonlinear vibration system with stick-slip friction is proposed. The proposed model can handle the highly nonlinear behavior of the friction such as stick-slip phenomenon and Stribeck effect. The basic idea of the proposed model is as follows : If the nonlinearity of the system can be predicted as a simple function then this nonlinear function term cab be directly used in the discrete time model. By doing this the number of nonlinear terms in the model can be much less than those of NARMAX model which is widely used nonlinear discrete model. The simulation result shows that the proposed model can estimate the response of the nonlinear vibration system with stick-slip friction very well with less computational effort.

  • The study of nonlinear discrete-time control dynamical systems with disturbance is an important topic in control theory. In this paper, we concentrate our efforts to multiple valued iterative dynamical systems, which model the nonlinear discrete-time control dynamical systems with disturbance. After establishing the validity of such modeling, we study the invariant set theory of the multiple valued iterative dynamical systems, including the controllability/reachablity problems of the maximal invariant sets.

  • In this paper, We suggest a unified approach for the analysis of discrete-time MAP/G/1 queueing system. Many researches on the D-MAP/G/1 queue have been used different approach to analyze system queue length and waiting time for the same system. Therefore, a unified framework for analyzing a system is necessary from a viewpoint of system design and management. We first derived steady-state workload distribution, and then waiting time and sojourn time are derived by the result of workload analysis. Finally, system queue length distribution is derived with generating function from the sojourn time distribution.

  • We consider a B/G/1 queueing system with vacations, where the server closes the gate when it begins a vacation. In this system, customers arrive according to a Bernoulli process. The service time and the vacation time follow discrete distributions. We obtain the distribution of the number of customers at a random point in time, and in turn, the distribution of the residence time (queueing time + service time) for a customer. This system finds an application in the performance evaluation of the DQDB protocol which has been adopted as the standard protocol for IEEE 802.6 MAN.
