Currently, the demand for multimedia services is increasing with the rapid development of the digital age. Image data is corrupted by various noises and typical noise is mainly AWGN, salt and pepper noise and the complex noise that these two noises are mixed. Therefore, in this paper, the noise is processed by classifying AWGN and salt and pepper noise through noise judgment. In the case of AWGN, the outputs of spatial weighted filter and pixel change weighted filter are composed and processed, and the composite weights are applied differently according to the standard deviation of the local mask. In the case of salt and pepper noise, cubic spline interpolation and local histogram weighted filters are composed and processed. This study suggested the multiple image restoration filter algorithm which is processed by applying different composite weights according to the salt and pepper noise density of the local mask.
Dynamic behavior of the harmonic detection part of an active power filter (APF) has an essential role in filter compensation performances during transient conditions. Instantaneous power (p-q) theory is extensively used to design harmonic detectors for active filters. Large overshoot of p-q theory method deteriorates filter response at a large and rapid load change. In this study the harmonic estimation of an APF during transient conditions for balanced three-phase nonlinear loads is conducted. A novel fuzzy instantaneous power (FIP) theory is proposed to improve conventional p-q theory dynamic performances during transient conditions to adapt automatically to any random and rapid nonlinear load change. Adding fuzzy rules in p-q theory improves the decomposition of the alternating current components of active and reactive power signals and develops correct reference during rapid and random current variation. Modifying p-q theory internal high-pass filter performance using fuzzy rules without any drawback is a prospect. In the simulated system using MATLAB/SIMULINK, the shunt active filter is connected to a rapidly time-varying nonlinear load. The harmonic detection parts of the shunt active filter are developed for FIP theory-based and p-q theory-based algorithms. The harmonic detector hardware is also developed using the TMS320F28335 digital signal processor and connected to a laboratory nonlinear load. The software is developed for FIP theory-based and p-q theory-based algorithms. The simulation and experimental tests results verify the ability of the new technique in harmonic detection of rapid changing nonlinear loads.

In this paper, the front-end of a digital receiver with a 25 kHz carrier frequency, 5 kHz symbol rate, and any excess-bandwidth is designed using two basic facts. The first is known as the uniform sampling theorem, which states that the sampled sequence might not suffer from aliasing even if its sampling rate is lower than the Nyquist sampling rate if the analog signal is a bandpass one. The other fact is that if the sampling rate is 4 times the center frequency of the sampled sequence, the front-end processing complexity can be dramatically reduced due to the half of the sampled sequence to be multiplied by zero in the demixing process. Furthermore, the designed front-end is simplified by introducing sub-filters and sub-sampling sequences. The designed front-end is composed of an A/D converter, which takes samples of a bandpass filtered signal at a 20 kHz rate; a serial-to-parallel converter, which converts a sampled bandpass sequence to 4 parallel sub-sample sequences; 4 sub-filter blocks, which act as a frequency shifter and lowpass filter for a complex sequence; 4 synchronized switches; and 2 adders. The designed front-end dramatically reduces the computational complexity by more than 50% for frequency shifting and lowpass filtering operations since a conventional front-end requires a frequency shifting and two lowpass filtering operations to get one lowpass complex sample, while the proposed front-end requires only four filtering operation to get four lowpass complex samples, which is equivalent to one filtering operation for one sample.
The popularity of digital music and smart phones led to develope noise-robust real-time audio fingerprinting system in various ways. In particular, The Multiple Hashing(MLH) of fingerprint algorithms is robust to noise and has an elaborate structure. In this paper, we propose a filter engine based on MLH to achieve better performance. In this approach, we compose a energy-intensive filter to improve the accuracy of Q/R from music database and a statistic filter to remove continuity and redundancy. The energy-intensive filter uses the Discrite Cosine Transform(DCT)'s feature gathering energy to low-order bits and the statistic filters use the correlation between searched fingerprint's information. Experimental results show that the superiority of proposed algorithm consists of the energy and statistical filtering in noise environment. It is found that the proposed filter engine achieves more robust to noise than Philips Robust Hash(PRH), and a more compact way than MLH.

Filtering is necessary for the SRC(sample rate converter), that is used to change the sampling rate of a digital signal. The larger the conversion ratio of the sampling rate becomes, the more signal processing is needed for the filter, which means more complexity on realization. Thus it is important to reduce the amount of signal processing for the case of substantial conversion ratios. In this paper it is presented an efficient design method of a multistage FIR(finite impulse response) filter, with which the rate conversion occurs in stages rather than in one step. In this method, filter searching is performed exhaustively over all possible factorization of the conversion ratio, and also the filter complexity is measured based on direct realization rather than on estimation. It has been shown a designed multistage filter to have a less number of multiplications for filtering operation in comparison with a conventionally designed one. It has also been found that by allowing some variations of the filter architecture such as a halfband filter or a filter with multiple transition bands, the number of multiplications can be reduced further.
Pavement distresses are one of the most important data for pavement management systems. Inspection machines and its related programs have been used for operating tools in PMS developed in advanced countries. In Korea imported machines and programs for the length price ale utilized to get information of pavement condition from the field This study is launched for developing the program which can detect cracks on asphalt pavement due to many drawbacks in current PMS operation such as improper maintenance work and long resting period when it was broken. The focus of this study is to define principles to analyze pavement surface with digital image processing techniques, to test property of pavement images and to suggest an algorithm that reduces noises at test. To test images, the camera attached on the Automatic Road Analyser(ARAN) was used. Through the FFT images, histogram and statistical values of pavement images, it was found that the images had many noises with high-frequency components against general images, and it was difficult to subdivide pavement images into background or crack. Through several testing with various filters for noise reduction a 3X3 median filter was suggested to reduce noises effectively.

Most of deblocking filters assumes that the block boundaries are accurately known and the coding information like quantization parameters are available. In some applications such as commercial television, however, many external video inputs without known block boundary and coding information arc given. If a decompressed video sequence heavily degraded with blocking artifacts is given through the external video port, it is absolutely necessary to detect block boundaries and control the strength of deblocking filtering by analysing the given images. This paper presents an efficient method to find the block boundaries and estimate the strength of the blocking artifacts without the knowledge of coding information. In addition, the confidence of the estimated blocking artifact information is also evaluated to control the adaptive deblocking filter robustly. Experiment results show that the estimated block boundary locations and strength relative strength and confidence information are practically good enough to reduce the blocking artifacts without prior knowledge.

This paper presents a new simplified harmonics extraction algorithm based on the synchronous reference frame (SRF) for an indirect current controlled (ICC) three-level neutral point diode clamped (NPC) inverter-based shunt active power filter (SAPF). The shunt APF is widely accepted as one of the most effective current harmonics mitigation tools due to its superior adaptability in dynamic state conditions. In its controller, the SRF algorithm which is derived based on the direct-quadrature (DQ) theory has played a significant role as a harmonics extraction algorithm due to its simple implementation features. However, it suffers from significant delays due to its dependency on a numerical filter and unnecessary computation workloads. Moreover, the algorithm is mostly implemented for the direct current controlled (DCC) based SAPF which operates based on a non-sinusoidal reference current. This degrades the mitigation performances since the DCC based operation does not possess exact information on the actual source current which suffers from switching ripples problems. Therefore, three major improvements are introduced which include the development of a mathematical based fundamental component identifier to replace the numerical filter, the removal of redundant features, and the generation of a sinusoidal reference current. The proposed algorithm is developed and evaluated in MATLAB / Simulink. A laboratory prototype utilizing a TMS320F28335 digital signal processor (DSP) is also implemented to validate effectiveness of the proposed algorithm. Both simulation and experimental results are presented. They show significant improvements in terms of total harmonic distortion (THD) and dynamic response when compared to a conventional SRF algorithm.
A lot of varIOUS studies are taking advantage of annular masks or various pupil filters to design optical systems such as a digital versatile disc (DVD) pick up head and precise scanning microscopy that have the superresolution beyond the diffraction limit. We considered both annular mask and pupil filter for the superresolution system. Since image quality is a function of annular width, position and modulation amount, we computel'lzed the optimized condition for the phase modulation and mvestigated the variation of lhe center peak: intensity for the phase modulated system From tills result, we were able to detenrune the best conditions for the annular apodizer, wluch give the maximum value of the center peak intensity_ We made especially sure that the phase modulated system have an excellent compensation for spherical aberration as it lllcreases. eases.

The paper experimentally verifies the performance of Terrain-Aided Navigation (TAN) using an interferometric radio altimeter, which is recently used due to its accuracy. First, we propose a TAN system that utilizes an interferometric radio altimeter as a measurement system. Second, we implement extended Kalman filter, unscented Kalman filter, and particle filter to evaluate the performance of TAN according to the selection of filters and the difference of environments.
