  • There are fruitful results on degenerate parabolic-hyperbolic equations recently following the idea of $Kru{\check{z}}kov^{\prime}s$ doubling variables device. This paper is devoted to the well-posedness of nonhomogeneous boundary problem for degenerate parabolic-hyperbolic equations with spatially dependent second order operator, which has not caused much attention. The novelty is that we use the boundary flux triple instead of boundary layer to treat this problem.

  • Probabilities of overfilling for model selection criteria are derived for several different situations. First, one candidate model with one extra variable is compared to the current model. This is expanded to m candidate models. We show that these comparisons are not independent and discuss ovefitting probabilities. Correlation between two F-tests is derived. Finally, probabilities are computed using the dependent F distributions and F distributions based on order statistics of independent Chi-squares.

A Mixture of Multivariate Distributions with Pareto in Reliability Models

  • This paper presents a new class of multivariate distributions with Pareto where dependence among the components is characterized by a latent random variable. The new class includes several multivariate and bivariate models of Marshall and Olkin type. It is found the bivariate distribution with Pareto is positively quadrant dependent and its mixture. Some important structural properties of the bivariate distributions with Pareto are discussed. The distribution of minimum in a competing risk Pareto model is derived.

  • This paper is concerned with preventive maintenance model for the items whose failures are dependent on their wear level. The previous maintenance models have used time as their decision variable, but it is not appropriate for the case which have wear dependent processes for their failures. In this paper, we consider an operating item which is under periodic review and which is subject to degradation. The scheduled maintenance (overhaul ) is based on the level of item degradation rather time. A functional equation for the total expected cost over an infinite horizon period is formulated and solved.

Model Forest Owner's Attitudes toward Tree Felling and Related Variables (독림가(篤林家)의 임목벌채의식(林木伐採意識)과 연관변수(聯關變數))

  • Total 83model forest owners in Korea were investigated to find out the relationship between their attitudes toward tree felling (or propensity to felling) and selected six independent variables, i.e, owner's age(X1), educational level(X2), forest land area (X3), socioeconomic status (X4), communication (X5) and sociopsychological factor(X6). The dependent variable was measured by Liken attitude scale, and analyzed by multiple regression. Major findings of the study are summarized as follows: 1) The degree of the propensity of felling is relatively high. The communication and sociopsychological variables are negatively, but education level is positively related to the dependent variable. 2) The multiple correlation coefficient between felling-attitude score and six independent variables is 0.5322. Of the variance of this sttitude score, about 13 percent can be explained by communication variable, 6 percent by sociopsychological variable and other 6 percent by age variable. 3) The model owners' attitudes toward felling are positively correlated with there sources of communication variable, i.e. personal contact, social participation and mass media contact. The multiple correlation coefficient between felling-attitude score and three sources of communication variable is 0.4049. This means that 16 percent of the variance of the attitude score can be explained by three sources of communication, that is, 9 percent by personal contact, 5 percent by social participation and 3 percent by mass media. 4) The fatalistic, untrustful and non-ambitious personalities were positively, but conservative personality negatively related to the propensity to tree felling. The multiple correlation coefficient between seven different personalities and the dependent variable is 0.5461. Of the variance of the dependent variable, 11 percent can be explained by untrustful personality, and other 11 percent by nonambitious personality.

  • We investigated both classical and quantum properties of a damped harmonic oscillator with a time-variable elastic coefficient using invariant operator method. We acquired the energy eigenvalues, uncertainties and probability densities for several types of wave packet. The probability density corresponding to the displaced minimum wave packet expressed in terms of the time-dependent Gaussian function. The displaced minimum wave packet not only be attenuated but also oscillates about x = 0. We confirmed that there exist correspondence between quantum and classical behaviors for the time-dependent damped harmonic oscillator.

  • Let {$X_{ni}$ | $1{\leq}i{\leq}n,\;n{\geq}1$} be an array of rowwise negatively dependent (ND) random variables. We in this paper discuss the conditions of ${\sum}^n_{t=1}a_{ni}X_{ni}{\rightarrow}0$ completely as $n{\rightarrow}{\infty}$ under not necessarily identically distributed setting and the strong law of large numbers for weighted sums of arrays of rowwise negatively dependent random variables is also considered.

  • Human insulin gene is consisted of the polymorphic region with the repeating units, the regulatory sequence, the structural gene including the intervening sequence, and 3'-flanking region. The polymerase chain reaction, which amplifies the target DNA between two specific primers, has been performed for the amplification of human insulin gene and simple one-step cloning of it into Escherichia coli. Out of 1727 nuceotides compared, only 4 sites were variable: 5'-regulatory region(G2101$\rightarrow$AGG); IVS I(T2401$\rightarrow$A); Exon II(C2411 deletion); IVS II(A2740 dejection). The variations at the G2101 and T2401 were the same as those found in one American allele. The other two variations were observed only in the specific Korean allele. And, the enzyme digestion patterns among normal, insulin dependent diabetes mellitus, and non-insulin dependent diabetes mellitus were the same. On the other hand, PCR method showed the possibility of the quickaccess for the polymorphic region in terms of the restriction fragment length of polymorphism.

Moderating Effect and Mediation Effect of Social Support in the Relationship between Art Therapist's Job Stress and Psychological Burnout

  • In this paper, we propose the moderating effects and mediation effects of social support on the relationship between art therapists' job stress and psychological burnout. Based on the previous studies, this study set up four types of variables: 1) independent variable, 2) moderating variable, 3) mediation variable, and 4) dependent variable. Job stress was identified as an independent variable, social support was identified as both a moderating variable and mediation variable, and psychological burnout was identified as a dependent variable. To empirically conduct this study, a total of 200 questionnaires were distributed to art therapists. Consequently, a total of 150 survey responses were collected. The survey results are as follows. First, there were not differences in job stress, psychological burnout, and social support due to personal environmental factors. This included career, employment type and working hours. Second, the result showed a high-level of correlation among job stress, psychological burnout, and social support. Third, social support was found to have a moderating effect on the relationship between the art therapists' job stress and psychological burnout. Forth, social support was found to have a moderating effect on the relationship between the art therapists' job stress and psychological burnout.
