  • Two experiments were conducted with growing crossbred Super-Meat ducks at the experimental duck farm of Cantho University to evaluate the effects of reducing the proportion of soybean meal (SBM) in a broken rice (BR)-SBM mixture and providing soya waste (SW) ad libitum (Expt. 1), and reducing the proportion of fish meal (FM) in a BR-FM mixture and supplying ensiled shrimp waste (ESW) ad libitum (Expt.2). Both experiments included five treatments, with three replicates and ten growing ducks per replicate. In Expt.1, the five diets were based on BR and five levels of SBM, with SW offered ad libitum. The control diet (SBM25) consisted of 75% BR and 25% SBM, and the other four treatments included SBM levels of 20% (SBM20), 14% (SBM14), 8% (SBM8) and 0% (SBM0) mixed with BR to 100%, and with SW ad libitum. In Expt. 2, the control diet consisted of 86% BR and 14% FM, and the other dietary treatments had FM levels of 11% (FM11), 8% (FM8), 4% (FM4) and 0% (FM0) mixed with BR, and with ESW ad libitum. In Expt. 1, total intakes of dry matter (DM), neutral detergent fiber (NDF), acid detergent fiber (ADF) and metabolizable energy (ME) were higher for birds given SW (p<0.001). Total CP intake was highest on the SBM20 diet, and lowest on the SBM0 diet (p<0.001). Lower daily gain (DG) was found for the SBM0 diet (p<0.01). Carcass weights were higher on the control treatment, with the lowest values on the SBM0 diet (p<0.001). Gizzard weights were higher on diets with high intakes of SW (p<0.05). In Expt. 2, birds with high intakes of ESW (FM4 and FM0) had lower (p<0.01) daily intakes of DM. The total CP intakes declined (p<0.001) with higher intakes of ESW. The highest DG were for the control and FM11 diets, while the lowest value was for diet FM0 (p<0.001). The poorest feed conversion ratio (FCR) was for the FM0 treatment (p<0.01). Lower weights of carcass and breast muscle were found on the FM0 diet (p<0.001). Feed costs per kg gain were only slightly different between diets. However, the lowest feed cost was for ducks on the SBM0 and FM11 diets in Expt.1 and Expt. 2, respectively.

  • This paper has analyzed the change of subthreshold swing for doping distribution function of asymmetric double gate(DG) MOSFET. The basic factors to determine the characteristics of DGMOSFET are dimensions of channel, i.e. channel length and channel thickness, and doping distribution function. The doping distributions are determined by ion implantation used for channel doping, and follow Gaussian distribution function. Gaussian function has been used as carrier distribution in solving the Poisson's equation. Since the Gaussian function is exactly not symmetric for top and bottome gates, the subthreshold swings are greatly changed for channel length and thickness, and the voltages of top and bottom gates for asymmetric double gate MOSFET. The deviation of subthreshold swings has been investigated for parameters of Gaussian distribution function such as projected range and standard projected deviation in this paper. As a result, we know the subthreshold swing is greatly changed for doping profiles and bias voltage.

  • This paper analyzed the change of subthreshold current for channel dimension of double gate(DG) MOSFET. The nano-structured DGMOSFET to reduce the short channel effect had to be preciously analyze. Poisson's equation had been used to analyze the potential distribution in channel, and Gaussian function had been used as carrier distribution. The subthreshold current had been analyzed for device parameters such as channel dimension, and projected range and standard projected deviation of Gaussian function. Since this potential model was verified in the previous papers, we used this model to analyze the subthreshold current. Resultly, we know the subthreshold current was influenced on parameters of Gaussian function and channel dimension for DGMOSFET.

  • Objective : In this study, we used the aged bilateral common carotid artery occlusion (BCAO) rats were used to measure the effect of Bupleuri Radix (Si-Ho) on the brain ischemic injury, because aging is an important factor in storke, Method : The brian ischemic injury was induced by temporary closing of carotids on both sides in a low blood pressure state. Bupleuri Radix (Si-Ho) was orally administered in 18-month-old BCAO rats. Result : The Ischemic Damaged Hippocampus and HSP expression were analyzed by the immunohistochemical staining and the result were as follows: 1. The low numbers of pyramid cells in the hippocampus CA1 area for the ischemically injured experimental group rose to numbers simillar to those of the control group. 2. The thin neuronal cell layer in the hippocampus CA1 area for the ischemically injured experimental group returned to thickness simillar to those of the control group. 3. The normalized optical density of HSP70 expression was suppressed in CA2, DG and CA1 expression was significantly suppressed in the experimental group compared to the control group. Conclusion : These results suggested that Bupleuri Radix (Si-Ho) has a neuroprotective effect by reducing neural cell injury in the initial ischemic state.

  • BACKGROUND: Yeasts are used in a variety of industries. However, most industries are biased toward Saccharomyces cerevisiae ; so we sought to explore non-conventional yeasts (NCY). This study aimed to isolate yeasts from seawater collected from the East Sea of Korea and to analyze the NCY. METHODS AND RESULTS: We first collected seawater and performed pure isolation using four kinds of medium (GPY, DOB + CSM, DG18, and SCG). In total, 314 strains and 17 genera were isolated by ITS sequencing, including Aureobasidum pullulans (236 strains), Cryptococcus (19 strains), Cystobasidium (18 strains), and Rhodotorula (9 strains). Upon in-depth analysis, A. pullulans, the most dominant genus (236 strains), was divided into Group II (147 strains), Unknown I (8 strains), and Unknown II (49 strains). CONCLUSION: In this study, a total of 314 strains were isolated from seawater; many of these yeasts have been found and reported in seawater previously. In-depth analysis of A. pullulans, showed the dominance of Group I (21 strains) and Group II (147 strains) We also discovered Unknown I (8 strains) and Unknown II (49 strains), which have not been reported previously.

  • This paper analyzed the change of subthreshold swing for channel doping of asymmetric double gate(DG) MOSFET. The subthreshold swing is the factor to describe the decreasing rate of off current in the subthreshold region, and plays a very important role in application of digital circuits. Poisson's equation was used to analyze the subthreshold swing for asymmetric DGMOSFET. Asymmetric DGMOSFET could be fabricated with the different top and bottom gate oxide thickness and bias voltage unlike symmetric DGMOSFET. It is investigated in this paper how the doping in channel, gate oxide thickness and gate bias voltages for asymmetric DGMOSFET influenced on subthreshold swing. Gaussian function had been used as doping distribution in solving the Poisson's equation, and the change of subthreshold swing was observed for projected range and standard projected deviation used as parameters of Gaussian distribution. Resultly, the subthreshold swing was greatly changed for doping concentration and profiles, and gate oxide thickness and bias voltage had a big impact on subthreshold swing.

  • This paper analyzed the change of subthreshold current for gate oxide thickness of double gate(DG) MOSFET. Poisson's equation had been used to analyze the potential distribution in channel, and Gaussian function had been used as carrier distribution. The potential distribution was obtained as the analytical function of channel dimension, using the boundary condition. The subthreshold current had been analyzed for gate oxide thickness, and projected range and standard projected deviation of Gaussian function. Since this analytical potential model was verified in the previous papers, we used this model to analyze the subthreshold current. Resultly, analytical model showed that subthreshold current was influenced by parameters of Gaussian function and gate oxide thickness of DGMOSFET.

  • This paper analyzes the phenomenon of drain induced barrier lowering(DIBL) for doping profiles in channel of asymmetric double gate(DG) MOSFET. The DIBL, the important short channel effect, is described as lowering of source barrier height by drain voltage. The analytical potential distribution is derived from Poisson's equation to analyze the DIBL, and the DIBL is observed according to the change of doping profile to influence on potential distribution. As a results, the DIBL is significantly influenced by projected range and standard projected deviation, the variables of channel doping profiles. The change of DIBL shows greatly in the range of high doping concentration such as $10^{18}/cm^3$. The DIBL increases with decrease of channel length and increase of channel thickness, and with increase of bottom gate voltage and top/bottom gate oxide film thickness.

  • This study was conducted to investigate the rheological properties of protein-bound polysaccharide powders (SD-1, 2, 3) using ultrafiltration (UF) and spray drying (SD) process from Agaricus blazei Murill. The calculated weight-average molar mass (Mw) in the positions at 29.7 mL (for SD-1), and at 27.8 mL (for SD-2), and at 18.7 mL (for SD-3) was $8.2{\times}10^3,\;9.6{\times}10^4$, and $5.9{\times}10^6g/mol$, respectively. As concentration increased the solution showed higher pseudoplasticity where the pseudoplasticity decreased as temperature increased. The flow behaviors of spray dried powder solutions were more fitted to Herschel-Bulkley equation than Power law equation. Apparent viscosity of SD-2 was more temperature-dependent than that of SD-1 and 3. However, the SD-3 tended to be more concentration-dependent than SD-1 and 2 as temperature increasing.
