Objective: The purpose of this study was to explore the mediating effects of parenting efficacy on the relationship between parenting alliance and parenting stress, and to investigate whether the relationships between these indicators were the same for mothers and fathers. Methods: A sample of 228 parents (114 mothers and 114 fathers) of 6 month old infants in Gyeonggi Province completed measures of Perceived Parenting Competence, Parenting Alliance Inventory, and Parenting Stress Inventory-Short Form. Results: The results indicated that parenting alliance produced its effect directly and indirectly through parenting efficacy on parenting stress. Using multiple group SEM analyses, it revealed that fathers parenting efficacy was mediated by parenting alliance and that the strength of the pathways was stronger for fathers than for mothers. Conclusion/Implications: These findings suggest that parenting alliance can improve father's parenting efficacy. The differential predictors of mother and father efficacy as well as their implications for future research are discussed.
Purpose: This study was designed to identify mother and infant related factors that influence child-care stress among the mother of newborn infants. Methods: Data were collected through self-administered questionnaires and descriptive statistics, correlation and multiple regression were used to analyze the data. The data survey was conducted with 957 conveniently selected mothers of infants when they visited a public health center in Seoul to have their children immunized. Results: The average item score for the Childcare Stress Inventory was 38.03, for the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale, 9.31 and for the Degree of Bother Inventory, 23.42. The CSI was positively correlated to EPDS (r=.44, p<.001) and DBI (r=.40, p<.001). Also these two variables explained 30.0% of CSI in infants' mothers. Conclusion: These findings are expected to expand the understanding about postpartum mothers' child-care stress and can contribute to the development of comprehensive interventions based on community health nursing.

Compared with non-AD children's parents, mothers of AD children showed a higher stress level and mothers of AD boys had a higher depression level. But there were no differences in maternal self-esteem and paternal factors between the groups. Second, AD boys' behavior problems were related to maternal factors and paternal stress, and some characteristics of AD girls' behavior problems were related with some parental variables. But peer interaction of AD children had no relation with parental factors. Third, behavior problems were influenced by maternal stress in AD boys and influenced by maternal depression and parental self-esteem in AD girls.

This study attempted to examine whether there is a relationship between parental stress and the accessible and mobilizable social capital of mothers raising young children by the mothers' employment status. The sample included 284 employed and 287 non-employed mothers who have children younger than the age of 5. Three research questions were as follows: 1) do the accessible and mobilizable social capital of mothers and parental stress differ by the mothers' employment status? 2) are the accessible and mobilizable social capital of employed mothers related to the level of parental stress? And finally, 3) are the accessible and mobilizable social capital of unemployed mothers related to the level of parental stress? The results showed that no significant difference was found in accessing social capital by the employment status of mothers. However, employed mothers were capable of mobilizing more social capital for childcare assistance than non-employed mothers. The parental stress of employed mothers was significantly lower than that of non-employed mothers. For employed mothers, their mobilizable social capital contributed to the reduction of parental stress. For non-employed mothers, their capability of accessing social capital significantly predicted lower levels of parental stress. These results indicate that the concept of social capital could be taken into consideration when explaining the parental stress of married mothers raising young children.

Second, mother's self-efficacy also had an effect on parenting stress level. A lower level of maternal self-efficacy demonstrated a higher level of maternal parenting stress level. Third, children's developmental characteristics and emotionality had an effect on parenting stress indirectly through mother's self-efficacy.
