  • Stress intensity factors for the circumferential surface crack of a long composite cylinder under torsion is investigated. The problem is formulated as a singular integral equation of the first kind with a Cauchy type kernel using the integral transform technique. The mode III stress intensity factors at the crack tips are presented when (a) the inner crack tip is away from the interface and (b) the inner crack tip is at the interface.

  • The purpose of this paper is to introduce and study the semigroups of nonlinear contractions in probabilistic normed spaces and to establish the Crandall-Liggett's exponential formula for some kind of accretive mappings in probabilistic normed spaces. As applications, we utilize these results to study the Cauchy problem for a kind of differential inclusions with accertive mappings in probabilistic normed spaces.

  • We consider the application of complex variable method to elastic problem and investigate the nonlinear effect of finite torsion of a compressible elastic composite layer. We obtain that as a result of finite deformation approach, a tube subjected to torsion decreases in radius giving rise to a “hold effect”.

  • In this study the method of analysis for three-dimensional plane crack problem by fractional linear mapping is given. Using this method we can obtain the exact solutions of significantly different configurations of the crack. In the example image crack configurations by mapping of elliptic crack are illustrated. And the stress intensity factors along the image crack tips are calculated.

  • This paper is concerned with the impulsive Cauchy problem (equation omitted) where u is a possibly discontinuous vector-valued function and f, $g_{i}$ : $IR^{n}$ -> $IR^{n}$ are suitably smooth functions. We show that the input-output map is Lipschitz continuous and investigate compactness of reachable sets.

  • This paper is studied the existence of a solution for the impulsive Cauchy problem involving the Caputo fractional derivative in Banach space by using topological structures. We based on using topological degree method and fixed point theorem with some suitable conditions. Further, some topological properties for the set of solutions are considered. Finally, an example is presented to demonstrate our results.

  • The aim of this paper is to prove the existence of the global attractor of the Cauchy problem for a semilinear degenerate hyperbolic equation involving strongly degenerate elliptic differential operators. The attractor is characterized as the unstable manifold of the set of stationary points, due to the existence of a Lyapunov functional.

  • It is shown in [1] that the Cauchy problem for the Fornberg-Whitham equation is well-posed in C1(ℝ) and the data-to-solution map is Hölder continuous from Cα to C([0, T]; Cα) with α ∈ [0, 1). In this short paper, we further show that the data-to-solution map of the Fornberg-Whitham equation is not uniformly continuous on the initial data in C1(ℝ).

  • A similarity transformation of a solution of the Cauchy problem for the linear difference equation in Hilbert space has been studied. In this manuscript, we obtain necessary and sufficient conditions for linear equivalence of the discrete semigroup of operators, generated by the solution of the difference equation utilizing four Canonical semigroups.

  • The control of a linear system with random coefficients is discussed here. The cost function is of a quadratic form and the random coefficients are assumed to be completely observable by the controller. Stochastic Process involved in the problem by the controller. Stochastic Process involved in the problem formulation is presented to be the unique strong solution to the corresponding stochastic differential equations. Condition for the optimal control is represented through the existence of solution to a Cauchy problem for the given nonlinear partial differential equation. The optimal control is shown to be a linear function of the states and a nonlinear function of random parameters.
