This paper describes a hardware design of hash processor which implements HAS-160 algorithm adopted as a Korean standard. To achieve a high-speed operation with small-area, the arithmetic operation is implemented using a hybrid structure of 5:3 and 3:2 carry-save adders and a carry-select adder. The HAS-160 processor synthesized with $0.35-{\mu}m$ CMOS cell library has 17,600 gates. It computes a 160-bit hash code from a message block of 512 bits in 82 clock cycles, and has 312 Mbps throughput at 50 MHz@3.3-V clock frequency.

This paper describes a design of digital PWM controller for automotive brake solenoid valve which is used in ABS/ESC SoC. The PWM controller which consists of 12 channels supports both direct control and PI control. Six channels in direct control mode make consistent PWM signals according to duty ratio setting, and the others in PI control mode make PWM signals with constant current depending on current setting. The PWM controller also has functions including solenoid valve open detection, Dither and PWM phase shift. The PWM controller having 44,779 gates is fabricated using a 0.18um CMOS process, and test results show that all the functions are correct.

This paper describes a scalar multiplier for Elliptic curve cryptography. The scalar multiplier has 163-bits key size which supports the specifications of smart card standard. To reduce the computational complexity of scalar multiplication on finite field $GF(2^{163})$, the Non-Adjacent-Format (NAF) conversion algorithm based on complementary recoding is adopted. The scalar multiplier core synthesized with a $0.35-{\mu}m$ CMOS cell library has 32,768 gates and can operate up to 150-MHz@3.3-V. It can be used in hardware design of Elliptic curve cryptography processor for smart card security.
Automotive ECU integrates CPU core, IVN controller, memory interface, sensor interface, I/O interface, and so on. Current automotive ECUs are often developed with proprietary processor architectures. However, demends for standard processors such as ARM and RISC-V increase rapidly for saftware compatibility in autonomous vehicles and connected cars. In this paper, an automotive ECU is designed for parking assist system based on RISC-V with open instruction set architecture. It includes 32b RISC-V CPU core, IVN controllers such as CAN and LIN, memory interfaces such as ROM and SRAM, and I/O interfaces such as SPI, UART, and I2C. Fabricated in 65nm CMOS technology, its operating frequency, area, and gate count are 50MHz, 0.37㎟, and 55,310 gates, respectively.

This paper proposes a low-complexity central processing unit (CPU) that is suitable for deeply embedded systems, including Internet of things (IoT) applications. The core features a 16-bit instruction set architecture (ISA) that leads to high code density, as well as a multicycle architecture with a counter-based control unit and adder sharing that lead to a small hardware area. A co-processor, instruction cache, AMBA bus, internal SRAM, external memory, on-chip debugger (OCD), and peripheral I/Os are placed around the core to make a system-on-a-chip (SoC) platform. This platform is based on a modified Harvard architecture to facilitate memory access by reducing the number of access clock cycles. The SoC platform and CPU were simulated and verified at the C and the assembly levels, and FPGA prototyping with integrated logic analysis was carried out. The CPU was synthesized at the ASIC front-end gate netlist level using a $0.18{\mu}m$ digital CMOS technology with 1.8V supply, resulting in a gate count of merely 7700 at a 50MHz clock speed. The SoC platform was embedded in an FPGA on a miniature board and applied to deeply embedded IoT applications.

This paper proposed a high-speed voltage-controlled ring-oscillator(VCRO) using a frequency doubling technique. The design of the proposed oscillator has been based on TSMC 0.18um 1.8V CMOS technology. The frequency doubling technique is achieved by AND-OR operations with 4 signals which have $90^{\circ}$ phase difference one another in one cycle. The proposed technique has been implemented using a 4-stage differential oscillator compose of differential latched inverters and NAND gates for AND and OR operations. The differential ring-oscillator can generate 4 output signals, which are $90^{\circ}$ out-of-phase one another, with low phase noise. The ANP-OR operations needed in the proposed technique are implemented using NAND gates, which is more area-efficient and provides faster switching speed than using NOR gates. Simulation results show that the proposed, VCRO operates in the frequency range of 3.72 GHz to 8 GHz with power consumption of 4.7mW at 4GHz and phase noise of ~-86.79dBc/Hz at 1MHz offset. Therefore, the proposed oscillator demonstrates superior performance compared with previous high-speed voltage-controlled ring-oscillators and can be used to build high-performance frequency synthesizers and phase-locked loops for radio-frequency applications.

This work proposes a calibration-free 14b 70MS/s 0.13um CMOS ADC for high-performance integrated systems such as WLAN and high-definition video systems simultaneously requiring high resolution, low power, and small size at high speed. The proposed ADC employs signal insensitive 3-D fully symmetric layout techniques in two MDACs for high matching accuracy without any calibration. A three-stage pipeline architecture minimizes power consumption and chip area at the target resolution and sampling rate. The input SHA with a controlled trans-conductance ratio of two amplifier stages simultaneously achieves high gain and high phase margin with gate-bootstrapped sampling switches for 14b input accuracy at the Nyquist frequency. A back-end sub-ranging flash ADC with open-loop offset cancellation and interpolation achieves 6b accuracy at 70MS/s. Low-noise current and voltage references are employed on chip with optional off-chip reference voltages. The prototype ADC implemented in a 0.13um CMOS is based on a 0.35um minimum channel length for 2.5V applications. The measured DNL and INL are within 0.65LSB and l.80LSB, respectively. The prototype ADC shows maximum SNDR and SFDR of 66dB and 81dB and a power consumption of 235mW at 70MS/s. The active die area is $3.3mm^2$.

This work proposes a 12b 60MS/s 0.18um CMOS Flash-SAR ADC for various systems such as wireless communications and portable video processing systems. The proposed Flash-SAR ADC alleviates the weakness of a conventional SAR ADC that the operation speed proportionally increases with a resolution by deciding upper 4bits first with a high-speed flash ADC before deciding lower 9bits with a low-power SAR ADC. The proposed ADC removes a sampling-time mismatch by using the C-R DAC in the SAR ADC as the combined sampling network instead of a T/H circuit which restricts a high speed operation. An interpolation technique implemented in the flash ADC halves the required number of pre-amplifiers, while a switched-bias power reduction scheme minimizes the power consumption of the flash ADC during the SAR operation. The TSPC based D-flip flop in the SAR logic for high-speed operation reduces the propagation delay by 55% and the required number of transistors by half compared to the conventional static D-flip flop. The prototype ADC in a 0.18um CMOS demonstrates a measured DNL and INL within 1.33LSB and 1.90LSB, with a maximum SNDR and SFDR of 58.27dB and 69.29dB at 60MS/s, respectively. The ADC occupies an active die area of $0.54mm^2$ and consumes 5.4mW at a 1.8V supply.

In this paper, we present the architecture design of CDMA/TDMA modem chipset for wireless telemetry system. The wireless telemetry system a measuring data collecting system from many RTs(Remote Terminal) installed at the specific area using wireless communication technology. It consists of CU single CU (Central Unit) for collecting data and a large amount of RTs for transmitting the measuring data. We propose the hardware architecture of the modem for RT and CU. We also design those modem using Verilog HDL and synthesis them using Synopsys$^{TM}$ CAD tool. The modem of RT is implemented with 27K gates and that of CU is implemented around 220k gates using 0.6${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ CMOS standard cell. The proposed system is implemented and tested using Altera$^{TM}$ FPGA.PGA.

This paper presents a fast fault simulation system for detecting stuck-at faults in mixed-level combinational logic circuits with gale level and switch -level primitives. For a practical fault simulator, the types are not restricted to static switch-level and/or gate-level circuits, but include dynamic switch-level circuits. To efficiently handle the multiple signal contention problems at wired logic elements, we propose a six-valued logic system and its logic calculus which are used together with signal strength information. As a basic algorithm for the fault simulation process, a well -known gate-level parallel pattern single fault propagation(PPSFP) technique is extended to switch-level circuits in order to handle pass-transistor circuits and precharged logic circuits as well as static CMOS circuits. Finally, we demonstrate the efficiency of our system through the experimental results for switch-level ISCAS85 benchmark combinational circuits and various industrial mixed-level circuits.
