Case Study on the Development and Use of Technical Training Contents using Virtual Reality (가상현실을 이용한 기술훈련 콘텐츠의 개발 및 활용 사례연구)

  • As the IT technology evolves, virtual reality technology has been developed so fast. Studies of virtual reality technology in various fields have been conducted. There are lots of applications of virtual reality such as education, military, medical, arts, entertainment, and so on. In this research, we applied virtual reality technology to the technical education, and developed various kinds of educational contents using virtual reality. We classified virtual contents into several categories and analyzed the properties and effects, and verified the educational effects of virtual training through the case analysis.

Effect of Collector Temperature on the Porous Structure of Electrospun Fibers

  • We report a new approach to fabricate electrospun polymer nonwoven mats with porous surface morphology by varying the collector temperature during electrospinning. Polymers such as poly(L-lactide) (PLLA), polystyrene (PS), and poly(vinyl acetate) (PVAc) were dissolved in volatile solvents, namely methylene chloride (Me) and tetrahydrofuran (THF), and subjected to electrospinning. The temperature of the collector in the electrospinning device was varied by a heating system. The resulting nonwoven mats were characterized by using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), field emission SEM (FESEM), and atomic force microscopy (AFM). We observed that the surface morphology, porous structure, and the properties such as pore size, depth, shape, and distribution of the nonwoven mats were greatly influenced by the collector temperature.

A Systematic Review of Female Engineering Students Related Studies (공과대학 여학생 관련 연구 동향 분석: 국내 연구를 중심으로)

  • This study aims to analyze the research trends of female engineering students focused on domestic research and to suggest implications for future researches. For this purpose, 67 domestic researches (academic articles & graduate theses) which were published since 1996 were collected using the academic research information service and the National Assembly Library search service. All of these 67 researches have been reviewed and classified according to analytical criteria such as publication year, research method, journal's research field and research subjects. Our findings show that firstly, related research on female engineering students has been growing since 1996. Secondly, there were more researches of both academic journals and graduate theses, using quantitative method compared to those with the other research methods. Thirdly, the research themes could be classified as follows: gender-awareness, female engineering students'(hereafter, FES) psychological variables, customized education for FES, career related variables, FES's properties and counselling for them. Fourth, regarding the result of analysis on the research topic, 41.79% of the researches were related to FES's 'career' related factors as well as diverse correlates. Based on these findings, it is necessary to continue studying on FES using various research methods as well as adopting different research perspectives. Also, practical and educational treatments for FES are required with particular attention to their individual variables.

  • Recently, in each university, the fourth industry era has begun, and a lot of programming lectures have been added to liberal arts classes in order to nurture the convergence talents needed in society. However, learners often encounter difficulties or negative responses to programming. In this study, we analyzed gender of learners in order to analyze learning motivation in programming learning. Through the pre - test, male and female students were separated and their learning motives were analyzed by each personality type. As a result of this study, we confirmed that female students can have a positive attitude toward programming learning. Also, the deviation was smaller. Future research is expected to contribute to learning motivation through lecture learning in post test.

  • This study suggests the development and the application of cognitive apprenticeship to instructional design for the 'computer and presentation skill' among the liberal arts computer courses in H university. The purpose of this paper is to show effects of instructional design on learning of the liberal arts computer courses employing cognitive apprenticeship, and examine earner's satisfaction of instructional planning, lecture contents, and teaching methods, which are evaluation elements of the content evaluation area. As a result of the study, cognitive apprenticeship theory has improved the satisfaction of the lesson plan, lecture contents and teaching method. Therefore, this study has significance in that it recognizes that cognitive apprentice theory is effective for general computer class. It is expected that it will be applied to effective teaching methods of liberal arts computer related subjects in the future.

  • 본 논문에서는 지식융합시대에 발맞춰 피코크리켓을 활용한 STEAM 기반 학습 프로그램을 개발하고자 한다. STEAM 교육은 Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics 다섯 가지의 학문을 융합적으로 가르치는 교육을 의미한다. 이는 빠르게 변화하고 있는 사회에 적응하고 실생활 문제해결 및 창의적인 사고력을 배양하기 위해서 여러 교과를 같이 융합하여 가르쳐야 한다. 이를 위해 다양한 교육용 로봇을 활용해 STEAM 교육이 진행되고 있으며 이번 연구에서는 피코크리켓을 활용한 학습프로그램을 개발하고자 한다. 피코크리켓은 통합적인 문제상황을 해결하는 과제를 제시하고 해결하는데 유용한 교육용로봇이며 학습프로그램에 효과적으로 활용될 것이다.

  • 본 연구에서는 공업계 고등학교 재학생 중 자율주행로봇 대회에 출전하려는 학생들을 대상으로 삼았다. 자율주행로봇 대회를 준비할 때는 프로그래밍, 로봇제작 등을 연습한다. 학생들은 대회를 준비하면서 성과에 대한 부담을 많이 가지고 있지만, 대회를 준비하는 과정에서 본인의 의도대로 결과물이 나타나지 않았을 때, 학습된 무기력에 빠질 수 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 자율주행로봇 대회의 출전을 준비하면서 발생할 수 있는 학습된 무기력을 극복하기 위하여 회복탄력성을 증진할 수 있는 방안을 제시하였다.

Effects of Scaffolding on Writing Apprehension and Media Literacy in Engineering Freshmen's Synchronous Online Writing Course (공과대학 신입생의 동시적 온라인 글쓰기 수업에서 스캐폴딩이 쓰기 불안과 미디어 리터러시에 미치는 영향)

  • This study aims to investigate effects of scaffolding on writing apprehension and media literacy in engineering freshmen's synchronous online writing course, and the relationships between the two variables. 'Scaffolding' is in-time support provided by a teacher/tutor or competent peer that enables students to meaningfully gain skills at problem solving process. Also, it is one of the most frequently mentioned concepts in education as well as one of the more necessary teaching strategies in an online writing course. In this study, provided treatments for the experiment were supportive scaffolding for domain-specific knowledge and reflective scaffolding for meta-cognitive knowledge. Participants were 102 engineering undergraduate students, who were assigned to two experimental groups by scaffolding types. A process-based writing course in online learning environment was conducted for 8 weeks. The writing tasks were given according to writing process. The findings were that, firstly, there were statistically significant writing apprehension's reduction and self-expression's improvement through the scaffolding provided in writing class. Secondly, writing apprehension's reduction and self-expression's improvement were significant in supportive scaffolding group. Thirdly, media literacy predicted writing apprehension. The practical implications of these findings are discussed herein, with particular attention on ways for writing apprehension's reduction as well as media literacy's enhancement.

Educational Effects of a H-STEAM Group Play Course in College Liberal Arts Curriculum

  • In this paper, we evaluated educational effects of H-STEAM group play contents(a course) and tried to suggest a convergent model for college liberal art curriculum. We opened a mixed course(math, art, engineering, and humanities) with team teaching for this purpose. For the test, we collected data from survey, K-W-L sheet, and reflection paper from 23 students who enrolled in this course. Students should do a team project during the course, propose a new group game, and write K-W-L sheet at the end of each session and reflection paper at the final stage. As a result, it is said that H-STEAM group contents had an effect on students' satisfaction and achievement. During the course, students made academic efforts and were able to construct convergent knowledge from the four fields. From this study, we are sure that H-STEAM contents can play a substitute role for the traditional liberal arts program and innovate the curriculum for the knowledge convergence society.

  • This study analyzed the main bodies, sizes of litters, spaces between letters, Words, lines, length of lines, sizes of main body and margin, Position of the main bodies of PDF(Portable Document Format) in high schools and "the criteria of reading system for the textbooks" which was suggested by the Department of Education and Provided some suggestions for the improvement. First, it is judged that spaces of the main body of textbooks should be shrunken to make the ratio of 50:50 between the main body and space margin. Second, it is judged that the main body should be placed in the center of text page. Third, the results of the above findings showed that it would be difficult to deal with the task of deciding space and position or the main body and marginal space in a form of single project, because there are many variables involved and psychologically complicated elements which can not be measured objectively.
