  • The study of non-self-adjoint operator algebras on Hilbert space was only beginned by W.B. Arveson[1] in 1974. Recently, such algebras have been found to be of use in physics, in electrical engineering, and in general systems theory. Of particular interest to mathematicians are reflexive algebras with commutative lattices of invariant subspaces.

  • This paper is devoted to the foldness theory of implicative ideals in BCK-algebras. We use the fuzzy point concept to give some characterizations of fuzzy n-fold implicative ideals and establish some relationships with various n-fold ideals. We also construct some algorithms for studying the foldness of implicative ideals in BCK-algebras.

  • One says that a ring homomorphism R → S is Ohm-Rush if extension commutes with arbitrary intersection of ideals, or equivalently if for any element f ∈ S, there is a unique smallest ideal of R whose extension to S contains f, called the content of f. For Noetherian local rings, we analyze whether the completion map is Ohm-Rush. We show that the answer is typically 'yes' in dimension one, but 'no' in higher dimension, and in any case it coincides with the content map having good algebraic properties. We then analyze the question of when the Ohm-Rush property globalizes in faithfully flat modules and algebras over a 1-dimensional Noetherian domain, culminating both in a positive result and a counterexample. Finally, we introduce a notion that we show is strictly between the Ohm-Rush property and the weak content algebra property.

  • Given vectors x and y in a Hilbert space, an interpolating operator is a bounded operator T such that Tx = y. An interpolating operator for n vectors satisfies the equation $Tx_i\;:\;y_i,\;for\;i\;=\;1,\;2,\;{\cdots},\;n$. In this article, we obtained the following : $Let\;x\;=\;\{x_i\}\;and\;y=\{y_\}$ be two vectors in a separable complex Hilbert space H such that $x_i\;\neq\;0$ for all $i\;=\;1,\;2;\cdots$. Let L be a commutative subspace lattice on H. Then the following statements are equivalent. (1) $sup\;\{\frac{\$\mid${\sum_{k=1}}^l\;\alpha_{\kappa}E_{\kappa}y\$\mid$}{\$\mid${\sum_{k=1}}^l\;\alpha_{\kappa}E_{\kappa}x\$\mid$}\;:\;l\;\in\;\mathbb{N},\;\alpha_{\kappa}\;\in\;\mathbb{C}\;and\;E_{\kappa}\;\in\;L\}\;<\;\infty\;and\;$\mid$y_n\$\mid$x_n$\mid$^{-1}\;=\;1\;for\;all\;n\;=\;1,\;2,\;\cdots$. (2) There exists an operator A in AlgL such that Ax = y, A is a unitary operator and every E in L reduces, A, where AlgL is a tridiagonal algebra.

An interpolating operator for n vectors satisfies the equation $Tx_i\;=\;y_i,\;for\;i\;=\;1,\;2,\;\cdots,\;n$. In this paper the following is proved: Let H be a Hilbert space and L be a commutative subspace lattice on H. Let H and y be vectors in H. Let $M_x\;=\;\{{\sum{n}{i=1}}\;{\alpha}_iE_ix\;:\;n\;{\in}\;N,\;{\alpha}_i\;{\in}\;{\mathbb{C}}\;and\;E_i\;{\in}\;L\}\;and\;M_y\;=\;\{{\sum{n}{i=1}}\;{\alpha}_iE_iy\;:\;n\;{\in}\;N,\;{\alpha}_i\;{\in}\;{\mathbb{C}}\;and\;E_i\;{\in}\;L\}. Then the following are equivalent. (1) There exists an operator A in AlgL such that Ax = y, Af = 0 for all f in ${\overline{M_x}}^{\bot}$, AE = EA for all $E\;{\in}\;L\;and\;A^{*}\;=\;A$. (2) $sup\;\{\frac{{\parallel}{{\Sigma}_{i=1}}^{n}\;{\alpha}_iE_iy{\parallel}}{{\parallel}{{\Sigma}_{i=1}}^{n}\;{\alpha}_iE_iy{\parallel}}\;:\;n\;{\in}\;N,\;{\alpha}_i\;{\in}\;{\mathbb{C}}\;and\;E_i\;{\in}\;L\}\;<\;{\infty},\;{\overline{M_u}}\;{\subset}{\overline{M_x}}$ and < Ex, y >=< Ey, x > for all E in L.

  • Let (R, m) be a commutative Noetherian local domain, M a non-zero finitely generated R-module of dimension n > 0 and I be an ideal of R. In this paper it is shown that if $x_1,{\ldots },x_t$ ($1{\leq}t{\leq}n$) be a sub-set of a system of parameters for M, then the R-module $H^t_{(x_1,{\ldots },x_t)}$(R) is faithful, i.e., Ann $H^t_{(x_1,{\ldots },x_t)}$(R) = 0. Also, it is shown that, if $H^i_I$ (R) = 0 for all i > dim R - dim R/I, then the R-module $H^{dimR-dimR/I}_I(R)$ is faithful. These results provide some partially affirmative answers to the Lynch's conjecture in [10]. Moreover, for an ideal I of an arbitrary Noetherian ring R, we calculate the annihilator of the top local cohomology module $H^1_I(M)$, when $H^i_I(M)=0$ for all integers i > 1. Also, for such ideals we show that the finitely generated R-algebra $D_I(R)$ is a flat R-algebra.

  • Let K be a Galois extension of a field F with G = Gal(K/F). Let L be an extension of F such that $K\;{\otimes}_F\;L\;=\; N_1\;{\oplus}N_2\;{\oplus}{\cdots}{\oplus}N_k$ with corresponding primitive idempotents $e_1,\;e_2,{\cdots},e_k$, where Ni's are fields. Then G acts on $\{e_1,\;e_2,{\cdots},e_k\}$ transitively and $Gal(N_1/K)\;{\cong}\;\{\sigma\;{\in}\;G\;/\;{\sigma}(e_1)\;=\;e_1\}$. And, let R be a commutative F-algebra, and let P be a prime ideal of R. Let T = $K\;{\otimes}_F\;R$, and suppose there are only finitely many prime ideals $Q_1,\;Q_2,{\cdots},Q_k$ of T with $Q_i\;{\cap}\;R\;=\;P$. Then G acts transitively on $\{Q_1,\;Q_2,{\cdots},Q_k\},\;and\;Gal(qf(T/Q_1)/qf(R/P))\;{\cong}\;\{\sigma{\in}\;G/\;{\sigma}-(Q_1)\;=\;Q_1\}$ where qf($T/Q_1$) is the quotient field of $T/Q_1$.

  • In this paper we show that if {$H_n$} is a continuous strong higher derivation of order n on an ultraprime Banach algebra with a constant c, then $c||H_1||^2{\leq}4||H_2||$ and for each $1{\leq}l$ < n $$c^2||H_1||\;||H_{n-l}{\leq}6||H_n||+\frac{3}{2}\sum_{\array{i+j+k=n\\i,j,k{\geq}1}}||H_i||\;||H_j||\;||H_k||+\frac{3}{2}\sum_{\array{i+k=n\\i{\neq}l,\;n-1}}||H_i||\;||H_k|| $$ and for a strong higher derivation {$H_n$} of order n on a prime ring A we also show that if [$H_n$(x),x]=0 for all $x{\in}A$ and for every $n{\geq}1$, then A is commutative or $H_n=0$ for every $n{\geq}1$.

  • Let K be a commutative ring with unity, R a prime K-algebra of characteristic different from 2, d a non-zero derivation of R, I a non-zero right ideal of R, f($x_1,{\cdots},\;x_n$) a multilinear polynomial in n non-commuting variables over K, a $\in$ R.
