A Study on Developing Flipped-MOOC Model in University (대학에서의 Flipped-MOOC 모형 개발)

  • The purpose of this research is to make a Flipped-MOOC model which can be applied and practiced in the college course after analyzing the characteristics and cases of MOOC and Flipped learning. For this, this study implemented the following tasks. First, this study analyzed the management and class types of MOOC and flipped learning through literature research. Secondly, flipped learning was applied in the course for a semester and the strong point and weak point of the course was analyzed and the alternative was suggested. Thirdly, the core ideas and strategies of Flipped-MOOC model was deducted for enhancing the participation and interaction of the students in the course which uses the MOOC content and applies flipped learning, and the instructional strategies and direction for the effective management in the real educational field was suggested. As a result, Flipped-MOOC model is expected to contribute for the educational revolution, change and quality improvement, and it is expected that Flipped-MOOC model might contribute to the lifelong education and educational competitiveness.

  • The real-time video education is used as an effective method of operating classes that replaces face-to-face education of instructors and learners in remote areas. However, the existing video call and video conferences system is mainly used, and this is effective in linguistic education because it focuses on lecture through video, but it is not utilized in other education. In this paper, we propose a design model of real-time video system that can improve the effectiveness of science curriculum and mathematics education by providing the functions that can be utilized during class by improving limitations of image - oriented image education.

AR Gardening system with an interactive learning companion (AR Gardening : 상호작용형 증강 에이전트 기반 증강 원예 체험 시스템)

  • Recently, many researchers have studied on agent-based edutainment systems to improve students' learning experience. In this paper, we present AR Gardening which makes users experience interactive flower gardening with a bluebird, a learning companion agent, squatting in an augmented picture. The proposed system augments the animated bluebird to support interactive edutainment experiences. The bluebird perceives users' actions as well as environmental situations. It then appraises situational information to provide participants with problem-solving guidelines. Moreover, the bluebird responds like a companion than an instructor through anthropomorphic expression. To demonstrate our work, we exhibited the implemented AR Gardening and reviewed participants' responses to the system. In this exhibition, we could find that the learning companion-like bluebird helped users experience how to properly grow the flower in our educational setting. Ultimately, we expect that an augmented peer learning agent is one of the key factors for developing effective edutainment applications.

A Study on the Factors Influencing the Learning Satisfaction of Records Management Cyber Education (기록물 사이버교육의 학습만족도 향상을 위한 영향 요인 연구)

  • This study aims to investigate the factors influencing the learning satisfaction of records management cyber education that is opened and operated by the National Archives of Korea, as well as to improve the quality of cyber education program. Cyber education consisted of an introductory course, an intensive course, and a liberal arts course. As the major factors for learning satisfaction, "validity of content structure, interaction between professors and learners, learning motivation, active learning attitude, ease of use environment, and level of organizational support" were set. An online survey was conducted on the learning satisfaction according to the curriculum of each course. The survey was conducted to 107 institutions with specialized records management personnel, and additional in-depth interviews were also conducted. The survey analysis consisted of factor analysis, independent sample T-test, analysis of variance (ANOVA), correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis. As a result of the study, the factors influencing learning satisfaction were found in the order of interaction between professors and learners, learning motivation, and validity of content structure.

  • This study deals with the effect of feedback patterns by instructor's social message in the online discussion environments. Based on these research results, it was suggested feedback patterns by instructor's social message should be utilized in order to improve the discussion participation and satisfaction of online discussion environments.

  • Modern internet service is characterized as opening, sharing and participation based on Web2.0 so that users might actively participate in the internet environment. In this study, we suggested an instructional model based on precedent model of robot programming to promote positive interaction in Web2.0 environment. First, we figured out implications of precedent research through review the environmental features of Web2.0 and educational tools, robot programming learning model. Also, we suggest an instructional model using Web2.0 tools(cyworld, prezi, Mindmeister) for promoting interaction and applied it to learners. As a result, we have acquired positive results of robot programming education using Web2.0 tools. Most participants were evaluated that Web2.0 tool would be helpful to the overall robot programming course.

  • As the computer is popularized in individual and society, it is using in a many of area. In particular, there are many materials to learn a science knowledge using multimedia through computer. Many of them are web-based learning materials, which are developed by Java or Flash. Since the technology of the representation, storage, com-putation and communication in computer make progress, the environment of education is also developed. Especially, the internet and VR technology will cause the education to change. A key feature of VR is real-time interactivity, in that the computer is able to detect student input and instantaneously modify the virtual world. It is reported that using the VR simulation in chemistry education can increase student engagement in class, promote understanding of basic chem-ical principles, and augment laboratory experience. In this study, application way of the virtual reality technology in chemistry education is examined.

A grounded Theory Study on Experience of Geography Teachers Participating in a Teacher Learning Community (지리교사들의 교사학습공동체 참여 경험에 대한 근거이론적 연구)

  • This study aims to inquire into experience of geography teachers participating in a teacher learning community based on the grounded theory methodology. Participation observation was conducted on one of geography teacher learning communities. The total of 11 research participants were selected to conduct in-depth interviews. The data collected were analyzed by the coding method proposed by Strauss and Corbin(1990, 1998). In open coding, 125 concepts, 43 sub-categories and 17 categories were drawn and in axial coding by paradigm model, phenomenon, conditions, action/interaction and consequences turned out. In selective coding, the participants were classified into four types and the condition/consequence matrix was developed. As a result of the analysis, first, participation, obstacles and continuous participation factors of geography teachers in the teacher learning community could be understood from multi-dimensional aspects. Second, principles of the collaborative teacher learning and the factors promoting collaborative teacher learning were established. Third, the professional development of geography teachers through teacher learning community could be understood.

A Study on the effect of Flipped Learning Program in Social Welfare Education (사회복지전공교육에서 플립러닝 교육방식의 효과)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the effectiveness of flipped learning lesson on the human social behavior and social environment subject. In order to achieve this object, this study conducted qualitative analysis of class-evaluation and self-evaluation and quantitative analysis using the questionnaire. As a result, it was confirmed that flipped learning method works very effectively in the theoretical curriculum of social welfare. Participants assessed that their comprehension and presentation skills improved. In addition, their self-esteem improved after this class. However, this teaching may be rather negative for participants who had difficulties in pre-learning or a passive attitude. In order to improve this problems, the instructors should be prepared to make pre-learning better. As well as, they should prepare countermeasures for passive participants, and help interact well among the participants.

The Effects of Flipped Learning Applied to Home Economics Education on Academic Engagement, Self-Directed Learning Ability and Social Interaction of Middle School Students (가정교과에 적용한 거꾸로 수업이 중학생의 수업참여도, 자기주도학습능력 및 사회적 상호작용에 미치는 효과)

  • This study aims to investigate the effects of flipped learning applied to home economics education on improving middle school students' academic engagement, self-directed learning ability and social interaction. The subjects of this study were 129 third-grade students in middle school. To verify the effects of flipped learning adequately, 129 middle school students divided into two groups have participated in the study over a course of nine weeks. One group was taught in the traditional instructed learning method while the other one in the flipped learning methods. The two groups were taught in 13 sessions in total once or twice a week, and each session took 45 minutes. For pretest and post test, the questionnaire consisting of academic engagement scale, self-directed learning scale and social interaction scale were used. To analyze data, ANCOVA was used to examine significant differences between two groups. The main results of this study were the following : First, students who participated in flipped learning are more improved than those who participate in instructed learning in academic engagement. Second, students who joined in flipped learning are much more improved than those who joined in instructed learning in self-directed learning ability. Third, students who join in flipped learning were much more improved than those who joined in instructed learning in social interaction.
