Factors affecting on life satisfaction of university students : Focusing on the moderating effects of ego-resilience (대학생의 삶의 만족도에 영향을 미치는 변인 분석 : 자아탄력성의 조절효과를 중심으로)

  • This study examined the relationships among stress, childhood traumatic experience, ego-resilience, and life satisfaction of university students to explore the moderating effects of ego-resilience on those variables. The survey participants were 459 university students in Gyeonggi province. The collected data were analyzed using frequency, Pearson correlation coefficient, stepwise multiple regression, and moderated multiple regression by SPSS. The results were as follows. Stress, childhood traumatic experience and ego resilience had correlations with the life satisfaction. Ego resilience and stress were significant effective variables on the life satisfaction. Moderated multiple regression analysis also showed that a positive future orientation, which is a sub factor of ego-resilience, influenced the stress level. Based on these findings, it is important to lower the stress levels to increase the students' life satisfaction level. To do so, a strategy to enhance the positive future orientation is recommended.

Moderating Effects of Ego-Resilience on the Relationship between Academic Stress and School Adjustment of Adolescent (청소년의 학업스트레스와 학교생활적응의 관계에서 자아탄력성의 조절효과)

  • Many adolescents in high schools are experiencing school maladjustment by academic stress under the reality of higher-education-oriented schooling. A review of studies of academic stress and school adjustment reveals that ego-optimism is predicted as one of the moderating variables to help adolescents lessen academic stress and increase their school adjustment. The main purpose of this study was to verify the moderating effects of ego-resilience on the relationship between academic stress and school adjustment of adolescents. For this, 496 high school students of tenth and eleventh grade were respectively collected through cluster sampling to be surveyed, and then correlation analysis and moderated regression analysis were conducted. The major findings were as follows. First, there was a negative relationship between academic stress and school adjustment and between academic stress and ego-resilience, but a positive relationship between school adjustment and ego-resilience. Second, the moderating effects of ego-resilience on the relationship between academic stress and school adjustment were not found, although optimism, one of ego-resilience's sub-factors, had a significant moderating effect on them, implying that adolescents' optimism should be enhanced to lessen academic stress and ensure they have a successful school life. The study concludes that optimism is a protective factor for school adjustment caused academic stress and thus schools need to make active efforts to enhance their students' optimism.

Influence of Satisfaction of University and Family Cohesion on Perceived Entrapment: Moderating Effects of Resilience and Hope (대학만족도와 가족응집력이 지각된 속박감에 미치는 영향: 회복탄력성과 희망의 조절효과)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the moderating effect of resilience and hope among satisfaction of university, family cohesion, and perceived entrapment. It was conducted to measure research variables from 610 university students. The moderating effect according to resilience and hope was analyzed through hierarchical regression analysis and presented in graphs of significant moderating effect. As a result of analysis, first, there were significant relationship, among satisfaction of university, family cohesion, and perceived entrapment. Second, satisfaction of university and family cohesion had a significant negative effect on the perceived entrapment. Third, resilience had moderating effect within the relationship of university satisfaction and perceived entrapment. Forth, hope had moderating effect within the relationship of family cohesion and perceived entrapment. Implications of these results were explored in relation to the importance of resilience and hope that could be taken to reduce perceived entrapment.

Moderated Moderating Effect of Gender and Resilience in the Relationship between Family-Friendly Climate and Innovative Behavior (가족친화적 조직분위기와 혁신행동의 관계에서 성별과 회복탄력성의 조절된 조절효과)

  • This research examines the effects of family-friendly organizational climate(FFOC) on innovative behavior. In addition, this study analyzed the moderated moderation effect of members' gender and resilience in the relationship between FFOC and innovative behavior. The results of this study, which empirically analyzed 1,026 employees of manufacturing companies in South Korea using SPSS regression analysis and PROCESS macro, are as follows. First, the FFOC showed a positive effect on innovative behavior. Second, gender had a moderating effect on the relationship between FFOC and innovative behavior. Specifically, men showed higher innovative behavior than women at the low FFOC level, but women showed higher innovative behavior than men at the high FFOC level. Finally, this research demonstrated the moderated moderation effect of gender and resilience in the relationship between FFOC and innovative behavior. ① When the FFOC was high, in the employee group with a low level of resilience, women's innovative behavior was higher than that of men. On the other hand, men's innovative behavior remained at a certain level regardless of FFOC. ② Also, in the employee group with a high level of resilience, the innovative behavior of men was higher than women regardless of FFOC. Based on the results of this study, theoretical and practical implications, research limitations, and future research directions were discussed.

The Mediation Effect of Ego-resilience and the Moderated Mediation Effect of Social Support in the Relationship between Art Therapists' Job Stress and Burnout (미술치료사의 직무스트레스와 소진의 관계에서 자아탄력성의 매개효과와 사회적 지지의 조절된 매개효과)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the structural relationship among job stress, ego-resilience, social support, and burnout of art therapists. This study verified the relationship and the effect by setting a research model with job stress as independent variable, ego-resilience as mediator variable, social support as control variable, and burnout as dependent variable based on the previous studies. In order to do this study, 300 questionnaires were distributed to art therapists and the 233 questionnaires were used finally for empirical analysis. The results of this study are as follows. First, only career showed significant correlation among personal environmental factors (education, career, treatment time, income per hour, number of supervision). Second, the relationship between job stress and burnout was partially mediated by ego-resilience. Third, social support showed a regulation effect on the relationship between ego-resilience and burnout. Thus, ego-resilience showed a mediation effect in the path that job stress affects burnout, and this mediation effect varies with the level of social support. So the moderated mediation effect was confirmed.

  • This study aimed to provide help to seeking a preventive intervention plan for lowering employment stress of university in social welfare students and improving quality of life by examining how resilience work between employment stress and quality of their life. This study investigated by carrying out purposive sampling final targeting 118 senior students majoring in social welfare at K university located in Gyeonggi-do. The Study results found that employment stress exerts a significant influence on the quality of life of university in social welfare students, and resilience has a moderating effect between employment stress and quality of life. Based on the results of this study, this study showed applicability of resilience as an internal coping resource for university students, and suggested an active intervention plan for lowering employment stress and improving quality of life.

Effects of the Academic Efficacy, Self-directedness and Ego-resilience on Psychological States in Nursing University Students (간호대학생의 심리상태에 학업효능감, 자기주도성, 자아탄력성이 미치는 영향)

  • This study examined the factors influencing the relationship between anger and happiness of university nursing students so that they can improve their happiness and perform their studies with better internalized values. The general characteristics, academic efficacy, self-directedness, self-resilience, anger scale, and subjective happiness of 401 nursing students were measured. The differences between these groups were analyzed using t-tests and ANOVA tests. Correlations among academic efficacy, self-directedness, self-resilience and psychological states were calculated using Pearson's correlation coefficient. Multiple group analysis was conducted for assessing the interaction effects of academic efficacy, self-resilience and self-directedness. Subjective happiness and predictors of the study (self-directedness and ego-resilience) were positively correlated with statistical significance. The lower the self-directedness was, the higher the subjective happiness that is reduced by anger was. The higher the self-elasticity, the lower the degree of the subjective happiness that is reduced by anger. Since the moderating effect of self-directedness has been demonstrated in the relationship between anger and happiness, it is necessary to consider instituting proper pedagogy so that the educational method of enhancing self-directedness can be reflected in the field of nursing.

A Study on the Resilience of Fire-fighters: Analysis of the Moderating Effect on the Relationship between Job Stress, Job Burnout, and Job Satisfaction (소방공무원 회복탄력성에 대한 연구: 직무스트레스와 직무소진, 직무만족 간 영향관계에서의 조절효과 분석)

  • This study examines the effects of job stress on fire-fighters' job performance on negative job factors, job burnout, and positive job factors, job satisfaction, respectively, and by examining whether resilience has a modulating effect in these influence relationships. This was done to provide useful information for planning management strategies. The analysis was done by regression analysis of data collected through a structured survey of 239 fire-fighters, and the moderating effect was confirmed by calculating and applying the interaction term. For the analysis, a structured questionnaire survey was conducted on 239 fire-fighters. As a result of the analysis, it was confirmed that job stress and job burnout of fire-fighters were low, job satisfaction was normal, and resilience was above average. Also, there was no significant difference in resilience according to demographic characteristics, and it was found that job stress had a positive(+) influence on job burnout at a statistically meaningful level, and a negative(-) influence on job satisfaction. In addition, it was found that impulse control power and cause analysis power had a moderating effect in the influence relationship between job stress and job burnout, and impulse control power had a moderating effect in the influence relationship between job stress and job satisfaction. Based on these results, it was proposed to preemptively apply various resilience programs suitable for the situation of fire-fighters, enhance emotional competence, and introduce coaching personnel to help self-reflection.

Convergence Study on the Moderating Effects of Ego-resilience on the relationship between Jobscape and Psychological Welfare of the Employees in Tourism Industry (관광업체 종사자의 잡스케이프(jobscape)와 심리적 복지감의 관계에서 자아탄력성의 조절효과에 관한 융합연구)

  • This research was psychological convergence research for job satisfaction improvement of emotional worker, and verified the effects of jobscape on psychological welfare and moderating effects of ego-resilience through the relation between jobscape and psychological welfare. Research hypothesis was verified by SPSS 20.0 program based on surveys from workers in travel agency in Seoul. As a result, jobscape that includes physical, emotional and social environment has a positive effect on psychological well-being and has a negative effect on psychological burnout. Moreover, ego-resilience plays a moderating role in relation among these factors. Based on the result, this study suggests that jobscape is an important factor in psychological welfare of the employees in tourism industry and emphasizes the importance of role of the employees' ego-resilience by revealing ego-resilience as an important moderating variable.

The Study on the Causes and Solutions of Work-family Conflict: With a focus on Employees' Resilience and Perceived Organizational Support (직장-가정 갈등 발생의 원인 및 해결방안에 대한 연구: 구성원들의 회복탄력성, 조직지원인식을 중심으로)

  • We examine the relationship between abusive supervision and work-family conflict, and the moderating effects of employee's resilience and perceived organizational support. We collected the employees' sample(n=136) and conducted multiple hierarchical regression analysis. Abusive supervision has a significant positive effect on work-family conflict. Subordinate's resilience has a buffer effect on the main relationship, but perceived organizational support has no significant moderating effect. This study will be helpful for employees who are suffered from work-family conflict.
