  • This case study aimed to investigate changes in self-expression following participation in a rap making program with adolescent survivors of childhood cancer. The rap making program was constructed based on the contextual support music therapy model. Three adolescent survivors of childhood cancer participated in six 80-minute individual sessions. During the sessions, each participant engaged in the following tasks: song discussion, lyric creation, and rapping over a selected beat. At pre and posttest, the Self-Expression Scale was completed by participants. Their verbal expressions lyrics were observed during the sessions, and individual interviews with the participants were conducted at the completion of the program. The results demonstrated that the mean rating of the Self-Expression Scale increased after the rap making intervention. Analysis of the participants' verbal expressions and lyrics demonstrated that participants were experiencing difficulties adjusting to school that they wanted to resolve. Furthermore, the analysis of the interviews at posttest found that participants experienced positive changes in self-perception, self-expression, and expectations for their future, compared to the pretest when the participants expressed negative self-perceptions due to difficulties in interpersonal relationships at school and physical limitations. This indicates that rap making can be an effective resource for providing this population with the means to recognize positive attributes about themselves and improve self-expression.

Data for analysis were collected from 689 vocational teachers who participated in the training at the Center for in-service teacher education in the School of Agriculture and Life Sciences, Seoul National University and at the Center for in-service teacher education of Chungnam National University. After screening, 685 responses were used in the analysis. As a result, it turned out that only 112 vocational teachers(16.5%) participated in the field practice for more than 4 weeks when they were in pre-service education. However, vocational teachers seemed to perceive that experience of field practice was generally required in pre-service education(average 4.07). In-depth questionnaire was conducted on 143 respondents who replied that they participated in field practice program for more than 4 weeks and those who participated in the program for less than 4 weeks but completed the paperwork. Most of vocational teachers who participated in field practice were placed in small and medium sized enterprises, stayed at home or relatives' home and commuted by the bus or subway. In this research, 34.8% of the vocational teachers who participated in field practice received financial compensation and 80.3% of the teachers got credit recognition. The perception of satisfaction on field practice program was found to be moderate(average 3.51).

  • In this study, we explored the relationship between experienced discrimination and volunteering activities among the $2^{nd}$ baby boom generation. Specifically, applying structural equation modeling, we examined how the effect of experienced discrimination on volunteering among the $2^{nd}$ baby boom generation is mediated by the negative perception of equal opportunity and achievement by personal merit. Data were obtained from the 2016 National Survey on Unequal Opportunity from the Circle Foundation. The research sample was comprised of 474 baby boomers ages 42 to 48 at the time of survey. Results indicated that perceived discrimination affects the level of volunteering among the $2^{nd}$ baby boom generation, through the negative perception of equal opportunity and achievement by personal merit. Based on the findings, we presented policy implications that could promote volunteering activities among the $2^{nd}$ baby boom generation.
