Developing the Mathematics Teaching Efficacy Beliefs Instrument Korean Version for Secondary Prospective Mathematics Teachers (중등 예비 수학 교사를 대상으로 하는 MTEBI 한글판 개발)

  • MTEBI는 미국에서 초등 예비 교사들의 수학 교수 효능감을 측정하는데 자주 이용되는 척도이다. 이 연구의 목적은 MTEBI를 한국의 중등 예비 교사들에게 사용하는 것이 적합한지를 탐색하는 것이었다. 이를 위하여, 미국에 있는 대학원에 다니며 영어와 국어 둘 다 말할 수 있는 박사 학생 두 명이 MTEBI를 브리슬린의 이론대로 국문으로 번역하였고, 그 뒤에 한국에 있는 다수의 수학 교사 교육자들이 번역된 척도를 면밀하게 검토하였다. 한글판 척도를 먼저 작은 표본에서 초벌 실험하였는데, 두 개 문항이 도구의 신뢰도와 타당도를 현저하게 떨어뜨렸다. 본 연구에서는 이 두 개의 유용하지 못한 문항을 대신할 두 개 문항을 더한 23개 문항으로 구성된 척도에 대하여 정규성, 신뢰도, 요인 타당도 등을 658명의 표본에서 검사하였다. 초벌 연구에서 발견된 두 개의 유효하지 않는 문항은 본 연구에서도 역시 그와 같아서, 그 두 문항은 척도에서 제거되었다. 최종적으로 얻어진 21 문항 척도는 한국의 예비 수학 교사들의 수학 교수 효능감을 측정하는데 적합한 척도이다. 앞으로, MTEBI 한글판을 이용하여 한국에서 교사 효능감에 대한 연구가 활발하게 일어나기를 기대한다.

An Analysis of the Difficulties Faced by New Science Teachers in Secondary Schools (중등과학 초임교사가 교직수행과정에서 겪는 어려움 분석)

  • This study aimed to identify the difficulties that new science teachers in secondary schools experience. Subjects for this study were 190 science teachers attending qualifying training for 1st degree of teaching certificate. Using an open questionnaire, the difficulties these teachers encounter were collected, categorized, and compared between their first year and their succeeding years of teaching in terms of their school level, gender, majors and regions. Results showed that first year science teachers have had difficulties in areas including subject teaching, guidance, administrative affairs, human relationship and self-understanding. On their succeeding years, difficulties about subject teaching were reduced to half while other difficulties remained. New teachers in middle schools have experienced the most number of difficulties about guidance, while new teachers in general high schools have experienced the most number of difficulties about subject teaching. Based on these findings, some recommendations were proposed for new science teachers in secondary schools, school administrators, and training institutions.

A Study of Self-Perception on Designing in Mathematical Assessment Items of on Pre-Service and In-Service Teachers' in Secondary School (중등 예비교사와 현직교사의 수학과 평가문항 개발에 대한 자기인식 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate expertise of mathematic teachers in development of designing assessment items, derived from development of assessing tools, which is a part of assessing competence of mathematic teachers. Analysis was made upon the difference between Pre-service and In-service teachers in terms of self-perception on assessment items. The assessing references of self-perception on developing in designing assessment items consist of followings: one's Beliefs and Self-Rating in designing assessment items. This investigation on self-perception was carried out by both pre-service teachers who are currently enrolled students in college and in-service teachers who are currently incumbent in secondary schools. This analysis based on 310 teachers' answers on self-perception of designing assessment items, both in- and preservice.

Secondary School Science Teachers' Emotional Display Rules and Emotional Labor Types (중등 과학교사의 감정표현규칙과 감정노동 유형)

  • The purpose of the study is to explore secondary science teachers' emotional display rules, types of emotional labor, science-specific emotional display rules and the episodes of emotional labor. For this purpose, the survey to measure emotional labor of science teachers (The Emotional Labor of Science Teaching Scale: TELSTS) was developed and the participants were 145 secondary science teachers in Korea. Results showed that first, secondary science teachers recognized the emotional display rules defined by their schools, especially, positive display rules. Second, secondary science teachers showed that they were carrying out emotional labor in order to keep their emotional display rules in check. The mean value of responses to deep acting was high. Also, there were statistically significant differences in emotional labor depending on whether they were full-time or part-time teachers and their teaching career. Third, as a result of analyzing the specificity of science teachers, it was mainly related to the objective and logical image of science, and experimental instruction. Seventy-four percent (74%) of responses were negative or neutral emotional display rules. Finally, implications for science education are discussed.

  • 인터넷 활용을 통한 교수학습이 교육 전반에 파급되면서부터 교사 홈페이지의 필요성이 대두되고 있다. 하지만 대부분의 교사들은 홈페이지 제작 능력이 부족하거나 제작하는데 근무외 시간을 많이 들여야 한다는 부담감으로 인해 홈페이지를 제작하여 운영할 엄두를 내지 못하고 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 홈페이지 제작을 위한 기본지식이 전혀 없는 초보자나 비전공사라 할지라도 최소의 필요정보 입력만으로 학급 홈페이지를 제작할 수 있는 인터넷의 기반의 초 중등학교 교사용 홈페이지 자동생성시스템 구현에 관한 연구를 하였다 그에 따라 초·중등학교의 교육정보화를 위한 홈페이지의 요구사항을 분석하였고, 학교와 가정을 연계할 수 있는 동적인 홈페이지 구현을 위한 표준 모형을 설계하였다. 또한 제안한 홈페이지의 설계를 기초로 하여 홈페이지 자동생성시스템의 요구사항을 분석하였고, JSP 프로그래밍 방식을 이용하여 자동생성시스템을 설계 구현하였다. 본 시스템의 결과를 바탕으로 향후 초·중등학교 교사의 홈페이지가 쉽게 구축될 수 있음은 물론, 학교 정보화를 위한 교육보조수단으로 활용함으로써 교육 정보화를 향한 작은 밑거름이 될 수 있을 것이다.

Improving the secondary school informatics teacher education system by comparing the teacher education programs of Korea and Japan (한일간 교사양성제도의 비교 및 현황 분석을 통한 중등 정보교사 양성제도 개선방안)

  • The quality of teachers is a necessary and sufficient condition for education to accomplish its goals. As informatics education will be taught as a required subject in middle schools starting in 2018, it is more important than anything else to secure high-quality teachers. Accordingly, this study was conducted to compare the informatics teacher education system of Korea with that of Japan in terms of qualifications, licensing and promotion, qualification criteria for teachers, qualifications for informatics teachers and licensing methods. As a result of the comparison three improvements were proposed as follows: The title of the specialized subject must be changed to 'Informatics,' graduate-level education and minor curriculum training courses must be reinforced to enhance the expertise of the teachers, and the qualification system must be changed in such a way as to promote the expertise of the teachers. The improvements proposed in this study will surely contribute to the quality of secondary school informatics teachers.

Analyses of Science Education Theories in the Question Items of the Examination for Appointing Secondary School Science Teachers (중등과학교사임용시험 문항에 나타난 과학교육학 이론의 분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze what kinds of science education theories are targeted in the "Examination for Appointing Secondary School Science Teachers (EASST)." For the analyses, we extracted the contents related to the science education theories in the question items of the EASST of 2008 through 2012, and categorized those theories into science curriculum, history of science and philosophy of science, scientific inquiry, theory of teaching and learning, model of teaching and learning, and assessment. The results of this study indicated that the theory of teaching and learning appeared most frequently and there were high proportions of question items related to the following topics: contents in science curriculum, scientific method, contemporary philosophy of science, process of inquiry, Ausubel's theory, learning cycle model by Lawson, cooperative learning, criteria of performance assessment, and etc. While we, as science educators, believed that the other categories such as 'history of science' provides important topics for pre-service science teachers, questions items dealing with those were rarely found in the past EASSTs. As EASST has strong influences on the professional developments of pre-service science teachers, more research should be pursued on how much and what domains of science education theories would be appropriate for the test.

A study on Analyzing the Difference Factors Occurred in the Pre-service Secondary Teachers on the Mathematical Noticing (수학적 주목하기에 관한 예비 중등교사들 간의 차이 발생 요인 분석 및 실천적 지식 함양 방안)

  • Recently, in the field of mathematics education, mathematical noticing has been considered as an important element of teacher expertise. The meaning of mathematical noticing is the ability of teachers to notice and interpret significant events among various events that occur in mathematics class. This study attempts to analyze the differences of pre-service secondary teachers' mathematical noticing and confirm the factors that cause the differences between them. To accomplish this, the items on class critiques were established to identify pre-service secondary school teachers' mathematical noticing, and each of 18 pre-service secondary mathematics teachers were required to write a class critique by watching a video in which their micro-teaching was recorded. It was that the teachers' mathematical noticing can be identified by analyzing their critiques in three dimensions such as actor, topic, and stance. As a result, there were differences in mathematical noticing between pre-service secondary mathematical teachers in terms of topic and stance dimensions. The result suggests that teachers' mathematicl noticing can be differentiated by subject matter knowledge, pedagogical content knowledge, curricular knowledge, beliefs, experiences, goals, and practical knowledge.

한국 교사들의 기업가정신 교육 역량 중요도: 실행도 분석

  • 최근 중등교육에서 기업가정신 교육에 대한 필요성에 대한 인식이 확산되면서, 현장에서 이를 실천할 교사의 역량이 중요해졌다. 본 연구는 기업가정신 교육을 실천할 교사들의 역량을 탐색하고 중요도와 실행도 차이를 분석함으로써, 교육 요구도의 우선순위를 도출하고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 본 연구는 TPACK(Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge, 테크놀로지내용교수지식) 모델에 기반하여 기업가정신 교육 역량을 개념화하고, 이를 측정하기 위한 도구를 개발하였다. 이를 활용하여 기업가정신 교육에 관심이 있는 중등교사 217명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하여 중요도와 실행도의 차이를 분석하였다. 연구결과, TPACK의 모든 하위 요인에 대하여 중요도의 평균이 실행도의 평균보다 높아 교육적 처방이 필요한 것으로 나타났다. 또한 중요도-실행도 매트릭스에서 가장 개선의 우선순위가 높은 요인은 CK(내용지식)인 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과를 토대로 교사들의 기업가정신 교육 역량 강화를 위한 시사점을 도출하였다.

Analysis of Exam Trend of Earth Science Education in the Secondary-school Teacher Employment Test (중등교사임용시험 지구과학 교과교육학 출제동향 및 개선방안 분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to explore ways to improve developing exam questions for Earth science education by analyzing exam trend of Earth science education in the secondary-school teacher employment test (TET, hereafter). For this purpose, we developed an analysis framework to analyze items of Earth science education in the secondary-school TET, and this analysis framework covers required courses for 'theory of Earth science education' of 'Earth science teaching certificate courses'. The analysis framework consists of big categories, assessment domains, and assessment components. We divided system changes in secondary-school TET into 4 types, and analyzed exams of 2014-2018 school year, which is the existing exam system. According to the results, 22-24 points out of 80 have been allotted to Earth science education. Among assessment domains, Earth science Teaching & Learning domain has taken the highest percentage of scores and item numbers, followed by Earth science inquiry, history & philosophy of science, etc. For each domain, we analyzed exam tendencies in detail. Based the results, we suggested ways to improve developing exam questions for Earth science education in the secondary-school TET, and ways to improve curriculum for Earth science education in the teacher education program.
