A Charge Pump with Improved Charge Transfer Capability and Relieved Bulk Forward Problem (전하 전달 능력 향상 및 벌크 forward 문제를 개선한 CMOS 전하 펌프)

  • In this paper, novel CMOS charge pump having NMOS and PMOS transfer switches and a bulk-pumping circuit has been proposed. The NMOS and PMOS transfer switches allow the charge pump to improve the current-driving capability at the output. The bulk-pumping circuit effectively solves the bulk forward problem of the charge pump. To verify the effectiveness, the proposed charge pump was designed using a 80-nm CMOS process. The comparison results indicate that the proposed charge pump enhances the current-driving capability by more than 47% with pumping speed improved by 9%, as compared to conventional charge pumps having either NMOS or PMOS transfer switch. They also indicate that the charge pump reduces the worst-case forward bias of p-type bulk by more than 24%, effectively solving the forward current problem.

  • Theoretical model for membrane transport of large polye!ectroiyte is presented. When the electric field is applied, the molecular conformation quickly orients in the field direction showing overshooting orientation. the predicted dependence of overshoot time and orientation upon field intensity and molecular size aids to understand the dynamic motion of molecules in membrane transport. The dynamics of the overshoot is associated with self-trapping conformations of molecule. The understanding of these effects supports evidences for the electrophoretic filtration of polydectrolyte in the polymeric membrane. This paper shows one example for molecular study in the theoretical review paper of membrane transport.

Complementary Dual-Path Charge Pump with High Pumping Efficiency in Standard CMOS Logic Technology (상보형 전하이동 경로를 갖는 표준 CMOS 로직 공정용 고효율 전하펌프 회로)

  • In this paper, we present a new charge pump circuit feasible for the implementation with standard twin-well CMOS process technology. The proposed charge pump employs PMOS-switching dual charge-transfer paths and a simple two-phase clock. Since charge transfer switches are fully turned on during each half of clock cycle, they transfer charges completely from the present stage to the next stage without suffering threshold voltage drop. During one clock cycle, the pump transfers charges twice through two pumping paths which are operating alternately. The performance comparison by simulations and measurements demonstrates that the proposed charge pump exhibits the higher output voltage, the larger output current and a better power efficiency over the traditional twin-well charge pumps.

  • In this paper, the charge pump circuit of a VPP generator for a low voltage DRAM is newly proposed. The proposed charge pump is a 2-stage cross coupled charge pump circuit. The charge transfer efficiency is improved, and Distributed Clock Inverter is located in each charge pump stage to reduce clock period so that the pumping current is increased. In addition, the precharge circuit is located at Gate node of charge transfer transistor to solve the problem which is that the Gate node is maintained high voltage because the boosted charge can't discharge, so device reliability is decreased. The simulation result is that pumping current, pumping efficiency and power efficiency is improved. The layout of the proposed VPP generator is designed using $0.18{\mu}m$ Triple-Well process.

  • 본 논문에서는 최근 국내·외적으로 활발하게 연구되고 있는 고분자 절연재료에 있어서 공간 전하가 전기적 특성에 미치는 영향에 대한 연구로서, 기존에는 보고되지 않았던 새로운 측정시스템과 분석 방법을 제시하였다. 그리고, 이러한 측정시스템을 이용하여 교류전압 하에서 PD 발생시에 절연체 표면에 축적되는 공간전하의 직접적인 관측을 통하여 공간전하와 PD와의 연관성에 대한 규명을 실시하였다. 실험결과로부터 PD 패턴은 방전에 의해 절연체 내부보다는 표면에 축적되는 동적 공간전하와 매우 밀접한 관계를 가지고 있는 것을 알 수 있었으며, 또한 PD 발생시 공기층 전압은 이러한 동적 공간전하에 의해 지배됨을 확인할 수 있었다. 그리고, 일정전계 이상에서는 공간전하의 축적에 의한 영향으로 PD 크기와 공기층 전압은 더 이상 증가하지 않았다는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 이러한 실험결과는 유전체장벽방전을 이용한 NOx, SOx 등의 공해물질의 분해에 있어서, 현재까지는 분해시스템에 전달되는 전력은 인가전압의 주파수와 크기에 비례하는 것으로 생각해 왔으나, 본 실험결과를 통하여 일정전계 이상에서는 전압상승에 의한 분해 효율의 향상을 기대하기 힘들다는 것을 나타낸다.

  • LLC 컨버터는 동작범위에 따라 특성이 바뀌는 전달함수로 인해 제어기 설계와 최적화에 어려움이 따른다. 본 논문에서는 이를 해결하기 위해 새로운 방식의 전하제어를 제안한다. 먼저, 소신호 등가모델을 분석해 공진 캐패시터 전압이 공진 전류와 같은 위상을 가진다는 것을 보인 후, 캐패시터가 resettable integrator가 될 수 있음을 밝힌다. 이를 바탕으로 디지털 구현에 적합한 전하제어를 제안한다. 그리고 실험을 바탕으로 제안한 제어의 타당성을 검증한다.

Cathodic Polarization Measurements on La0.9Sr0.1MnO3 Electrode for Solid Oxide Fuel Cells

  • Cathodic oxygen reduction kinetics on $La_{0.9}Sr_{0.1}MnO_3$ electrode have been examined at $700-900^{\circ}C$ under various oxygen partial pressures. AC impedance and current interruption techniques were employed for the determination of charge transfer resistances for electrochemical oxygen reduction. The $R_{ct}$ values obtained from two different methods were very close each other for $La_{0.9}Sr_{0.1}MnO_3$ electrode. Activation energy for the electrochemical oxygen reduction was found to be 174kJ/mol under atmospheric oxygen pressure. $R_{ct}$ measurements as a function of oxygen partial pressure indicate that the rate-determining step for the electrochemical oxygen reduction on $La_{0.9}Sr_{0.1}MnO_3$ electrode is the charge transfer process.

  • Charge transfer through DNA oligonucleotides has been investigated for potential applications of DNA into molecular electrooptic switching devices. Electrons were injected using gold electrode probes where DNA oligomers were adsorbed that are separated in medium. The results show that increased adsorption of DNA reduces the ionization current due to the combined effect of charge transfer through DNA and surface-limited charge transport. The probe-based charge injection was extended to examine the capability of extinguishing fluorescence of Cy3 dye molecules attached to DNA. It is expected that the results may be employed to implementing a novel electrooptic switching device based on DNA molecules.
