  • This study is to increase the utilization of the ozonated water generator to make it easier to take advantage of the ozone water in the world today, there will be to develop a system that operates in one motion. Furthermore, olive oil and ozone is reacted with the wish to apply to the manufacturing technology. In the case of many existing products ozone generator driven mostly non-ozone system. In the case of ozone, but handwriting is implied general way pressure ozone gas leakage risks of suction force to the pump, it is the case of the challenge by using the injector, and limit the generation of ozone and ozone inhalation according to whether the water inlet leakage of existing products risk due to minimized. Despite the disadvantages of the injector system was found the effectiveness of the ozonated water production unit injector system used in this study to maintain the microbiological disinfection performance.

Fabrication of $In_2O_3$-based oxide semiconductor thick film ozene gas sensor ($In_2O_3$ 계 산화물 반도체형 후막 오존 가스센서의 제조)

  • $In_2O_3$-based thick films for the ozone detection of ppb range have been investigated. The $In_2O_3$ sensing layer is quite sensitive to ozone, but the saturated stable sensitivity cannot be obtained at the ozone exposure of 100 ppb for 5 min. The addition of $Fe_2O_3$ into $In_2O_3$ indicates some improvement in response time and sensitivity, but it seems the improvement is not good enough for real applications. Firing of $In_2O_3$:$Fe_2O_3$ powder induces remarkable improvement in response and recovery, although the sensitivity decrease. The sensing layer fired at $1300^{\circ}C$ and operated $550^{\circ}C$ shows excellent properties of fast response time, saturated stable sensitivity and rapid recovery characteristics to 100 ppb ozone exposure for 5 min. Especially, it shows the reproducibility of the sensor signal for repeated measurements and the linearity between the ozone concentration and the sensor resistance. The preliminary results clearly demonstrated that the sensor can be successfully applied for the ozone detection of ppb range.

Microbial and Physiochemical Characteristics of Pork Loin Cuts Treated with Ozone Gas During Storage (오존가스 처리가 저장기간 중 포장 돈육의 미생물학적, 이화학적 특성에 미치는 영향)

  • This experiment was conducted to investigate the changes of pork meat quality characteristics exposed to ozone gas for 5, 10, and 15 min and then vacuum packaged during storage for 0, 5, 10, 15, and 20 day at $4^{\circ}C$. The ozone gas exposed groups of pork loin cuts (OZM) had slightly higher pH value compared to the control at day 0 and 5 (p<0.01). The 15 min exposure of ozone gas groups showed significantly (p<0.01) higher TBARS value than that of control at the day 15 and 20. However, there was no significant difference in all groups at day 0,5, and 10. The CIE $L^*$ and $b^*$ values of OZM showed no significant difference between control and ozone gas treated groups during storage. The loin cut color of ozone gas exposure for 15 min had significantly lower CIE $a^*$ values than the other groups at day 0,5, and 15 (p<0.01). The aerobic plate count and coliform bacteria count of pork loin cuts exposed ozone gas significantly (p<0.01) was reduced at day 0 by about $0.45-1.04\;log_{10}CFU/g$ and $0.26-0.30\;log_{10}CFU/g$, respectively. As ozone gas exposure time extended, the aerobic plate count and coliform bacteria count of OZM were increased at day 0, 5, and 10 (p<0.01). However, there were no significant differences observed among groups at day 20 in the counts of aerobic and coliform bacteria. In conclusion, the meat cuts exposed to ozone gas for 5 and 10 min before packing may be a reasonable packing method regarding the effects of ozone level on meat oxidation, color change and microbial reduction.

  • As an ozone gas sensor, the semiconductor gas sensor which is cheap, portable and simple in use and has a high sensitivity and an excellent selectivity, has been known as an alternative. In the present study, ITO ($In_2O_3 95%,\;SnO_2$ 5%) thin films were deposited on the alumina substrate by using R.F. magnetron sputtering method. The substrate temperature was 300$^{\circ}C$ and 500$^{\circ}C$, respectively and then some specimens were annealed at 500$^{\circ}C$ for 4h in air. ITO gas-sensing films formed crystallines before and after annealing. As results of gas sensitivity measurements to an ozone gas, the sensor deposited at 300$^{\circ}C$ and then annealed has the highest sensitivity (sensible below 1 ppm). As the operating temperature increased gradually, the sensitivity decreased but the response time and stability improved.

  • Recently, ozone is utilized in various fields and its needs are expanding. In this paper, plate type ozonizer have been fabricated to investigate discharge parameter(input power, flow rate of supplied gas, electrode form, etc.) effect to discharge. And the conditions of discharge parameter have been investigated for optimum ozone generation. Ozone concentration is continuously increased with increasing input power for same discharge space, and ozone yield is also increased until maximum point after that it is saturated. Ozone concentration is inversely proportional to flow rate of supplied gas but ozone generation and ozone yield characteristics are improved.

  • Effects of operating parameters such as activated carbon dose, gaseous $O_3$ concentration and pH on the properties of methylene blue(MB) degradation in a catalytic ozonation were investigated through a series of batch experiments. Activated carbon catalyzed the self-decomposition of ozone, generating $OH{\cdot}$, thus promoting MB degradation. Thus the increase of activated carbon dose enhanced the MB and TOC removal. The higher gaseous ozone concentration injected, the promoted MB and TOC removal obtained through the enhanced mass transfer. The MB removal was not significantly affected by the variation of aqueous pH. Catalytic ozonation can be considered as an efficient alternative in treating refractory pollutants in textile wastewater with faster and higher dye and TOC removal compared with ozonation and adsorption.

  • To analyze the characteristics of ozone formation, measurements of the concentrations of individual exhaust hydrocarbon species have been made under various engine operating parameters in a 2-liter 4-cylinder engine for natural gas and LPG. Tests were performed at constant engine speed, 1800 rpm for two compression ratios of 8.6 and 10.6, with various operating parameters, such as excess air ratio of 1.0~1.6, bmep of 250~800 na and spark timing of BTDC 10~$55^{\circ}$. It was found that the natural gas gave the less ozone formation than LPG in various operating conditions. This was accomplished by reducing the emissions of propylene($C_3H_6$), which has relatively high maximum incremental reactivity factor, and propane($C_3H_8$) that originally has large portion of LPG. In addition, the natural gas show lower values in the specific reactivity and brake specific reactivity. Higher compression ratio of the test engine showed higher non methane HC emissions. However, specific reactivity value decreased since fuel species of HC emissions increase. brake specific reactivity showed almost same values under high bmep, over 500kPa for both fuels. This means that the increase of non methane HC emissions and the decrease of specific reactivity with higher bmep affect each other simultaneously. With advanced spark timing, brake specific reactivity values of LPG were increased while those of natural gas showed almost constant values.

  • Ozone is a colorless, toxic gas that is produced when nitrogen oxides and hydrocarbons undergo a photochemical oxidation reaction in the sun's rays. Even at low concentrations, it affects the respiratory system, causing coughing and other harmful effects. It was confirmed that ozone was generated from nitrogen plasma among cosmetic raw materials, and it was found that the concentration of ozone decreased after 1 day. On the other hand, ozone was not detected in ozone-free plasma generated with argon gas. Therefore, we aimed to produce ozone-free cosmetics by utilizing ozone-free plasma. For efficient plasma processing, the non-sinking method was utilized to inject the plasma into layer separation mists, toners, and ampoules, and the stability was observed. It was found that the successful injection of plasma in the layer separation mist was higher than the other two formulations, but decreased sharply compared to the toner and ampoule. It was found that the ozone-free plasma used did not affect the stability of the layer separation mist, toner, and ampoule under low temperature (4 ℃), room temperature (25 ℃), and high temperature (37 ℃, 50 ℃) conditions. Therefore, this study suggests the importance of ozone-free plasma for cosmetic potential and stability of each formulation.

A Study on the Development of Bleaching efficiency for flex fabrics by Using Ozone Treatment (오존을 이용한 마직물의 표백성 향상에 관한 연구)

  • In order to study on the bleaching efficiency of flex fabrics, ozone which has been produced by an ozone generator, has been contacted with flex fabrics in water at various conditions. The equipments used for the ozone reatment of flex fabrics were the ozone generator and a liquor/ozone contactor. For the study of the bleaching efficiency on flex fabrics, the Hunter's whiteness, tensile strength, microscopic properties of the ozone treated flex fabrics were measured. The concentration of generated ozone was increased, as the voltage increase, flow ratio decrease and oxygen amount increase. The bleaching efficiency of ozone treated fabrics was increased with increasing the net concentration of ozone. The whiteness ozone of treated fabrics was found to be best when treated temperature was $0-15^{\circ}C$ and treated time was 20 min. The tensile strength of treated fabrics decreased as the treating time increased, and as the temperature raised.
