This study examined the perception of gifted teachers toward 'conception of creativity personality education,' 'methodology of creativity personality education,' and 'support of creativity personality education' in the future gifted education. As a result, gifted teachers conceptualized creativity personality education as education to foster creative social capitals(social + moral leaders), which showed movement from gifted education focused on cognitive development into future-developmental orientation. Gifted teachers mentioned education to foster social sensitivity, creativity, and leadership as methodology of creativity personality education. More specifically, they recommended inductive curriculum in learning and teaching in order to encourage domain-specific giftedness. As pointing not to separate creativity personality education for gifted from a formal education but to deploy with conjunction with it, gifted teachers mentioned the social recognition for creativity personality education and the development of teacher's professionalism and educational programs.
What are the identification criteria elementary school teachers prefer? What are the characteristics of students that teachers consider when nominating them to gifted programs? Will those criteria of identification/nomination differ as to teacher experiences related to gifted education or teacher involvement in the professional development? This study aims to find the answer to these questions. For this purpose, a total of 511 elementary school teachers with a varying degree of experiences with gifted education were recruited from 23 schools in 11 school districts in Seoul. The results show that teachers generally preferred task commitment, creativity, curiosity, and domain specific talents as criteria for identifying gifted students, while perceiving achievement records, total grades, leadership, and general intelligence as less important. Teachers experienced in gifted education or having been involved in professional development perceived curiosity, task commitment, and creativity as more important than teachers without such experiences. The importance-performance analysis of identification criteria indicates that teachers reported high importance on task commitment, curiosity, and creativity, but those factors were less considered in actual nomination. On the contrary, teachers reported low importance on quick learning and achievement(total grades, subject grades), but those were highly considered in nomination. A similar pattern was found in both experienced and nonexperienced teachers although the importance-performance gap was higher for the latter. Implications for teacher nominations and professional development were discussed.

The purpose of this study is to explore the characteristics of the science/mathematics gifted students the preservice teachers who participated in the service learning in the hothousing center annexed to the university, and the direction in which the Korean hothousing should proceed. For this, the service learning was conducted in the hothousing institution targeting three students attending A education college for 12 weeks. As a result of study, the gifted children showed the outstanding cognitive, affective, and creative natures which were expressed positively or negatively according to the situation. The study participants recognized the teachers had a duty to admit the distinctive nature of the individual gifted children and to provide the specially contrived education for them for the qualitative improvement of the Korean hothousing. Simultaneously they thought the gifted children should be regarded as ordinary children before the gifted persons and treated as the children. The necessity for preservice teachers to take the hothousing lectures requisitely and provide the learning chance focusing on the practical contents beyond the hothousing teacher training was brought forward in order to develop the systematic hothousing curriculum.
The purpose of this study was to analyze the teacher training programs focusing on reflect qualities of teachers in gifted education. A total of 20 teacher training programs were collected from the office of education, the teacher training center of university and the remote training center. These teacher training programs were analyzed using a semantic network analysis. The analysis showed that 'curriculum', 'teaching and learning' and 'development of curriculum' were emphasized in teacher training programs. Therefore, teacher training programs are operated with an emphasis on teacher's professional qualities. The analysis also revealed that many of the teacher training programs were dealt with professional and teaching faculty's qualities more than affective qualities. Therefore, it is necessary to reorganize the teacher training programs to be diversified and balanced. Furthermore, in order to improve teacher's quality equally, we suggest a systematic training program should be pot in place.

Data for the study were classroom observations, semi-structured interviews, report of students, and photographs. The data were analyzed through the constant comparison method. As results show, the four teachers used different teaching strategies, and the teaching strategies had a close connection with each other. According to the learning types they chose themselves - acceleration or deepening - they used different teaching strategies. The 4 teachers' teaching practice were clearly different in teaching strategies, classroom atmosphere, interaction style between teacher-student and student-student, and report draw-up style. The teaching strategies identified in this study may be helpful to the teachers short in teaching experience in organizing their lessons and promoting their specialty in teaching for science-gifted students.
The purpose of this study was to find out the difference between importance and performance regarding perception of core competence of gifted education teachers through importance-performance analysis (IPA). One hundred fourteen elementary gifted education teachers including math and science participated in the study. The collected survey data was analyzed with IPA matrix. As the result, firstly, there was significant difference between importance and performance regarding perception of core competence of gifted education teachers. Secondly, core competencies of 'understanding knowledge', 'research and instruction', 'passion and motivation', and 'ethics' are high in both perceptions of importance and performance. However, both 'communication and practices' and 'professional curriculum development' are low. Thirdly, there was a difference in core competence of gifted education teachers between math and science at the competence of 'passion and motivation'. Math gifted education teachers perceived 'passion and motivation' high in both importance and performance while science gifted education teachers perceived its importance low and performance high. In addition, math gifted education teachers showed lower performance compared to its importance in the sub-categories; 'knowledge of gifted development', 'gifted child assessment', 'information gathering and its literacy', and 'creative answers to various questions'. However, science gifted education teachers showed lower performance compared to its importance in sub-categories; 'higher-order thinking skills in its subject', 'teaching methodology for self-directed learning', 'problem behavior of the gifted', and 'counseling the gifted'.
One of the main factors that affect the improvement of G/T education is the number and the level of quality of the professionals who are working for the gifted. The professionals vary depending on the role they play for the gifted from the classroom teacher, coordinator, to consultant. Since the legislation of the law for the enhancement of the gifted education in Korea, the in-service training for the classroom teacher has been expanded in number throughout the country. Nowadays, the gifted education is about to be expanded into the general school population, and it becomes more necessary that the training at the level of university graduate program be expanded beyond the short-term in-service training so far. In this vein, the number of universities in Korea that offer the staff development for the gifted education at the graduate level has been increased. However, the problem is whether those programs meet the need to produce the quality professionals. Based on this problem awareness, the study analyzed the graduate programs of 8 universities in Korea by comparing their course descriptions with the graduate-level training program standards of the United States and Europe. It was found that most of the universities fulfilled the areas that both standards commonly consider import, such as "concept and development of giftedness", "curriculum development for the gifted", "teaching methods for the gifted." However, the number of the offered subjects was different among the universities, which indicates that it is suspicious that the universities equally satisfy the areas both standards require. Furthermore, it was also found that the universities differ in satisfying the other standards, From these findings, several suggestions were made for the improvement of the university graduate programs in Korea.
This study aims to explore the characteristics of environmental catalysts which have affected the development of music giftedness of the disadvantaged students. For this purpose, this study deals with nineteen disadvantaged gifted in music and examines their self-evaluation test, personal statement, and interview. Based on Gagn$\acute{e}$'s environmental catalysts of differentiated model of giftedness and talent(DMGT), the analysis of the interviews conveys the milieu of the disadvantaged gifted hardly exerts positive influences on their musical activities and studies. While concerning music and supporting their children financially and emotionally, parents unintentionally tend to exert negative influences on their children for their misapprehension of giftedness and incompetent advice. On the whole, the disadvantaged gifted hardly admit their teachers as experts in music. In relation to provisions, most students participate in extra school and local program and none of them participates in music gifted program. They are not satisfied with the quality in education. Despite the importance of the events such as crystallizing experience, award-winning, and performance, most students don't have enough events for inspiring their giftedness. As a conclusion, this study gives a proposition for a strategy to improve the environmental catalysts for the disadvantaged gifted in many different ways: the improvement of social recognition, the enhancement of parent consulting and teachers training programs, and the development and diffusions of more qualified gifted programs and so on.
