Eight field-collected populations of the two-spotted spider mites, Tetranychus urticae (Koch) from apple orchards of different geographical areas were tested for resistance to seven acaricides by leaf disk method in comparison with a susceptible strain. Marked regional variations of susceptibility were observed. Only low to moderate resistance to azocyclotin, fenpropathrin, propargite, and abamectin was obtained. However, high resistance to dicofol, fenpyroxymate, and pyridaen by eight field-collected populations was produced. Resistance to dicofol and fenpyroxymate was widespread. All of the strains tested were susceptible to one or more o the acaricides used. These results indicate that careful selection of the chemical used against any population of the two-spotted spider mite might result in satisfactory control.
Neillieae was traditionally recognized as a small tribe in Rosaceae, which consists of Neillia, Stephanandra, and Physocarpus. Recently, Stephanandra was merged into Neillia based on molecular phylogenetic analyses, meaning that Neillieae now contains Neillia and Physocarpus. The genus Neillia is distinguished from Physocarpus by ovate to lanceolate leaves with acuminate to caudate apices, racemose or paniculate inflorescences, and a unicarpellate (rarely bicarpellate) gynoecium. Plants of Neillia are distributed from the Himalayas across China and Korea to Japan in the east, and south to Indonesia. This study provides a taxonomic treatment of Neillia based on a morphological examination of herbarium specimens, including types, and field observations, as the second part of the taxonomic revision of the tribe Neillieae. A summary of the phylogeny of Neillia, keys to the species, nomenclatural reviews, descriptions, distribution maps, and lists of specimens examined are provided. Twelve species with ten varieties are recognized in Neillia. A lectotype was designated here for the following species: N. sinensis f. glanduligera and N. thyrsiflora.

Six populations of the diamondback moth, Plutella xylostella, were collected from the different national areas for resistance and reared in laboratory for two sensitive population. These populations of P. xylostella were examined the developed resistance against commercial products of Bacillus thuringiensis. There were 3 products with B. thuringiensis subsp. kurstaki including Tyuneup$^{(R)}$, Thuricide$^{(R)}$ and Geumulmang$^{(R)}$ and 2 products with B. thuringiensis subsp. aizawai including Tobagi$^{(R)}$ and Scorpion$^{(R)}$. The sensitive population of diamondback moths were provided from National Academy of Agricultural Science (NP) and Highland Agriculture Research Center (GR population) and field populations were caught from 6 different national areas. Resistance against Tyuneup$^{(R)}$ was developed 4.8 and 2.5 times in SP and HS compared with GR population of diamondback moth, respectively. In case of Geumulmang$^{(R)}$, it was developed 9.9 and 6.8 times in SP and NM population compared with NP population, respectively. Otherwise, Tobagi$^{(R)}$ was showed higher resistance in HS than any other population compared with GR population, however, Scorpion$^{(R)}$ that is a same strain with Tobagi$^{(R)}$, was showed only double resistance to SP population. It was supposed that the development of resistance to B. thuringiensis might be caused by the continuous application of the specific commercial product at the specific area. So, we need to use the commercial products of B. thuringiensis in rotation with different B. thuringiensis strains. In the other hand, when HS population with highest resistance were reared in laboratory, their resistance ratio was rapidly dropped to 1.1 times at second generation. We have to examined the resistance mechanism of the diamondback moth to B. thuringiensis strains.

The armyworm, Pseudaletia separata was occurred suddenly in a golf club in Namhae, Gyeongnam province in 2013. Thus, pathogenicity of seven species of entomopathogenic nematodes (Steinernema carpocapsae GSN1 strain, S. glaseri Dongrae strain, S. longicaudum Nonsan strain, S. monticolum Jiri strain and S. siamkayai, Heterorhabditis sp. Gyeongsan strain, and H. bacteriophora Hamyang strain) was evaluated against armyworm on tall fescue in pot and golf course to control this pest environmentally friendly. The pathogenicity against P. separata larvae was significantly different depending on nematode species. The corrected mortality of fifth instar of P. separata was 100% in the treatment with S. carpocapsae GSN1 in 7 days in tall fescue pot. However, there was not different in the mortality of fifth instar of P. separata (80 to 100%) at the rate of 385 to 6,160 infective juveniles (Ijs) ($=2.5{\times}10^2$ to $4{\times}10^5Ijs/m^2$) of S. carpocapsae GSN1 strain in each pot. Corrected mortality of P. separata was 65 and 60% at the rate of $10^5Ijs/m^2$ of S. carpocapsae GSN1 and S. longicaudum Nonsan strain, respectively in the tall fescue of golf course.

A solar photovoltaic system is composed of a module mounting structure, supporting trunk, and a control unit that supplies generated electrical power to an external power grid or a load. The efficiency of the system depends on the incident solar light, so the mounting structure is installed to face the sun. However, because the sun always moves, systems that track the sun have better efficiency than fixed systems. The structure experiences wind pressure, snow load, seismic load, and structure weight. The wind pressure has the most serious effect on the structure. The pressure was obtained using finite element method for various gaps between modules and angles between the panel and the ground. The wind pressure is lowest when the gap is zero, and it increases with the inclination angle. Based on the results, a mounting structure module was designed.
The tribe Neillieae, a small group of about 18 species in the Rosaceae, comprises three taxonomically difficult genera, Neillia, Physocarpus, and Stephanandra. The tribe, characterized by lobed leaves with persistent or deciduous stipules and ovoid, shiny seeds with copious endosperm, is strongly supported as a monophyletic group by a variety of lines of molecular evidence. Due to the high amount of morphological variation across the three genera and the species in tribe Neillieae, conflicting classification schemes and numerous species have been proposed over the past three centuries. However, no comprehensive systematic study of the group, including all species across their geographic ranges, has ever been undertaken. As part of a taxonomic revision of tribe Neillieae, a revision of Physocarpus based on the morphological examination of herbarium specimens, including types, and field observation is presented. Artificial keys, comprehensive nomenclatural treatments, descriptions, distribution maps, and lists of specimens examined are provided. Six species in Physocarpus are recognized. A lectotype is here designated for the following species: Opulaster pubescens, Opulaster ramaleyi, Spiraea opulifolia var. parvifolia, Spiraea opulifolia var. tomentella, Physocarpus michiganensis, and Physocarpus missouriensis.
Male adults of bean bug, Riptortus clavatus Thunberg (Heteroptera: Alydidae), release aggregation pheromone (AP) attracting both sexes of adult and nymphs, which its egg parasite, Ooencyrtus nezarae (Hymenoptera: Encyrtidae) exploits the pheromone to find host. The AP consists of three components; (E)-2-hexenyl (Z)-3-hexenoate (E2HZ3H), (E)-2-hexenyl (E)-2-hexenoate (E2HE2H), and tetradecyl isobutyrate (TI). We analyzed composition of the pheromone components of bean bugs from different geo graphical locations of Korea and Japan. The attractiveness of different blends of AP components to R. clavatus was also tested in the fields in Jinju, Korea and in Kumamoto, Japan. Composition ratios (E2HZ3H: E2HE2H:TI) of the AP of Jinju and Iksan populations were 1:1.4:0.2 and 1:0.8:0.2, and those of Tsukuba and Kumamoto populations were 1:2.8:0.2 and 1:1.5:0.1, respectively. In field tests, traps baited with ratio of 1:1:1 (E2HZ3H:E2HE2H:TI=16.7:16.7:16.7mg/rubber septum) and 1:1:0.5(E2HZ3H:E2HE2H:TI= 20:20:10mg/rubber septum) attracted significantly greater number of adult bugs than that of 1:5:1 (E2HZ3H:E2HE2H:TI=7.1:35.7:7.1mg/rubber septum).

Korean entomopathogenic nematodes were introduced into cultural management of turfgrasses to enhance white grub control in golf courses for saving labour and expenses and contribution to giving safe playing and working places for golfers and superintendents by environmentally friendly control strategy. The turfgrass height influenced efficacy of entomopathogenic nematodes. Efficacy was higher at short turfgrass both in pot using Galleria mellonella larvae and in golf courses using 2nd instar of Exomala orientalis and Ectinohoplia rufipes as baits. Aeration increased the efficacy of entomopathogenic nematodes which were lower virulent. Pre-aeration was more effective than post-aeration. Exomala orientalis larval population was reduced 80.4 and 66.0% in the pre-aeration and post-aeration with entomopathogenic nematode, Steinernema carpocapsae Pocheon strain compared to 35.4% in the no aeration treatment.
In 2010, two-spotted spider mite, Tetranychus urticae was collected from the rose greenhouse and apple orchards in Cheongju (CJ), Chungju (CUJ)-1, CUJ-2, Kangjin (KJ), Yesan (YS), and Yeongju (YJ). Among them, KJ and YS strain showed high resistance to bifenazate of 964.5- and 1l30-fold, respectively. The other strains showed low resistance to bifenazate. By analyzing the mitochondrial cytochrome b (cytb) sequence, G126S point mutation was detected in KJ and YS strain. Thus, G126S point mutation in the mitochondrial cytb was available molecular detection marker for selection of bifenazate resistant T. urticae. Two molecular detection methods, quantitative sequencing (QS) and PCR amplification of specific alleles (PASA) were well detected specific G126S point mutation. Therefore, these methods can be used to monitor the resistance allele in field population of T. urticae and bifenazate resistance management strategy.
This study was conducted to find a useful alternative herbivore system with which to study the effects of ultraviolet exposure on the pathogenicity and survival of Korean isolated entomopathogenic nematodes (Heterorhabditis sp. 202 strain, Heterorhabditis sp. Gyeongsan strain, Steinernema sp. 223 strain, S. carpocapsae Pocheon strain, S. glaseri Dongrae strain and S. longicaudum Nonsan strain). Pathogenicity of entomopathogenic nematodes against silkworm, Bombyx mori, differed depending on the nematode species and strain and instar of silkworm challenged. Steinernematidae were relatively more pathogenic to the 5th instar silkworms, whereas Heterorhabditidae were more pathogenic to the 1st instars. UV-C exposure was harmful to entomopathogenic nematodes. All nematodes were killed within 60 minutes of exposure of UV-C, and after 10 min of exposure they caused only 6.7% corrected mortality of silkworms. Silkworms were not infected when they were fed S. carpocapsae Pocheon strain treated mulberry leaves which were exposed to UV intensity of about $2.3mW/cm^2$ for 4 hours in the field. Pathogenicity of S. carpocapsae was not significantly reduced after 1 hour of exposure to $4.0mW/cm^2$ UV intensity on the mulberry leaves against silkworms.
