  • Two investigations were carried out to understand the relationship between self-enhancement bias and psychological adjustment. In study 1, a scale for measuring the self-enhancement bias was constructed and the relationship between self-enhancement bias and psychological adjustment was examined in Korean college students. The relationship between two variables was significant in Korean college students. At study 2, college students and laborers in Korea and Germany participated to examine the relationship between two variables. It was significant both samples. This is very interesting result because it is reverse the existing outcomes that there are no self-enhancement bias and no relationship between self-enhancement and psychological adjustment in collective cultures. It is need to develop more refined measure tool and to do comparison with various cultures for more profound research on self-enhancement bias and cultural difference.

  • The present paper tried to review psychological perspectives on adolescent in Korean culture. We suggested the starting point for study of adolescent should be on the definition of adolescent, i.e., what is adolescent. In oder to do it, we reviewed the perspective of the old generation, especially negative one, and myth and psychologism of developmental psychology on adolescent. Accordingly, we'd like to suggest an alternative approach on adolescent in psychology. That is called activity-environmental focused approach for studying adolescent. We also argued the value of adolescent in modern society and suggested how to view and approach the adolescent in psychology.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of decentering and self-silencing in a relationship between socially prescribed perfectionism and social anxiety. We predicted self-silencing would function as a mediator in this relationship, and that decentering would moderate this mediation effect. To investigate this aim, three hundred seven university students were surveyed. All variables showed statistically significant correlations, and there was no statistically significant difference in the moderating effect of decentering in the relationship between socially prescribed perfectionism and social anxiety. Conversely, this study showed that there was a significant difference in the moderating effect of decentering in the relationship between self-silencing and social anxiety. In addition, socially prescribed perfectionism affected social anxiety through self-silencing, and decentering moderated the mediating effect of self-silencing. Implications and potential follow-up studies are discussed.

In order to verify and achieve the purposes mentioned above, questionnaire data were gathered and analysed from 315 professors and teachers of Korea Politechnics Colleges. Empirical survey's findings are as follows; First, self-efficacy and optimism appeared to be positively related with organizational commitment, and all psychological capital factors(self-efficacy, resilience and optimism) appeared to be positively related with innovative behavior. Second, organizational support appeared to have moderating effect partly on the relationship between psychological capital and organizational commitment, but it did not have a moderating effect on the relationship between psychological capital and innovative behavior. Self-efficacy and optimism appeared to be more positively related with organizational commitment in higher organizational support situation than in lower organizational support situation.

  • This article has the purpose of clarifying that Rollo May's existential psychotherapy is based on Kierkegaard's concept of anxiety in philosophical aspects. May makes use of Kierkegaard's concept of anxiety to establish his own existential psychotherapy. May points out that Freud's concept of anxiety is too technical in comparison with Kierkegaard's concept of anxiety. Freudian theory accepting anxiety as the cause of repression overlooks the importance of human relationship which brings about repression. May mentions the presence or absence of object to distinguish fear and anxiety. Kierkegaard and Freud also mention that the presence of object is called fear and the absence of object is anxiety. May interprets anxiety ontologically. Succeeding Kierkegaard's comment on nothing/non-being, May insists that anxiety is the experience of Being affirming itself against Nonbeing. May interprets Kierkegaard's concept of freedom as the possibility or potentiality in terms of similar meaning. May argues that Anxiety is the situation when faced with the problem which human being will achieve his potentiality. Kierkegaard's concept of freedom is also associated with sin at the same time as the freedom associated with anxiety. Succeeding this, May discusses the relation of guilt feeling and anxiety is the flipside of the coin. He understands that guilt feeling is not a pathological symptom but an evidence of the human being's possibility. Kierkegaard's The Concept of Anxiety has a sub-title which is 'a simple psychologically orienting deliberation on the dogmatic issue of hereditary sin'. This shows that he understood the relationship between anxiety and guilt as dilemma that can not be separated. Through this study, I want to clarify that May's concept of anxiety which is the most important concept in his existential psychotherapy, is derived from Kierkegaard's concept of anxiety.

  • This study examined the relationship between consumers' ethical ideologies and consumers' perceptions of fashion counterfeits. Forsyth's Ethics Position Questionnaire(EPQ) measuring consumers' ethical ideologies-- idealism and relativism -- was used. College students enrolled at a large university in a metropolitan area participated(N=314). There were no significant differences between counterfeit purchasers and non-purchasers on their ethical ideologies, while there were significant differences between these two groups on their perceptions toward two of the perceptions toward counterfeit factors: economic and psychological uncertainty. Idealism was not significantly related to participants' perceptions toward fashion counterfeit, while relativism was positively related only to participants' perceptions concerning the return-related uncertainty of fashion counterfeits. The results of a multiple regression revealed that consumers' economic, psychological, and return-related uncertainty were significant predictors of intent to buy counterfeit goods.
