  • This study has three purposes. Firstly, we try to extract the types of the motives of OCBO & OCBI instead of global OCB. Secondly, we compare the types of the motives OCBO & OCBI and those of the motives of global OCB. Finally, using another set of P-sample, we try to find out whether the four types of the motives of OCB found in the study of Kim & Lee(2013) could be found once again. The findings are as follows. First, we found the four types of the motives of OCBO, and three the types of the motives of OCBI. Second we found some similarities and differences at the same time between the types of OCBO, OCBI, & global OCB. Third, except the instrumentality-based type, three of the four types found in the study of Kim & Lee(2013) reappeared in this study. In conclusion, these findings suggest that OCBO & OCBI, the sub-dimensions of OCB, have their own distinctive natures respectively.

Much has been written about biological sex differences in learning, but less attention has been paid to the impacts of socio-cultural gender on learning geography. As such, the aims of this paper are two-fold. First, to examine theories which seek to explain why males and females might differ in their geographic and spatial knowledge or skill. Second, to examine the extent of sex differences and gender traits in the geographic learning. The results of study illustrate clearly that there are more similarities than differences between the sexes. Therefore, there are significant gender differences between the preferences of regions, contents, activities in the secondary geographic learning. The results also provide insights into improving contents and method of geographic education.

  • Different eye-heights due to individuals' body heights may cause different sensory experiences against the same visual scene, eventually leading to their longer-term psycho-social and developmental individual differences. Accordingly, the present study compared sensory properties of photographs for the same scene taken from two different camera-heights (i.e., eye-heights). Two sets of photographs were taken in parallel from two cameras attached to a different height on the same pedestrian's body. Analysis of the photographs revealed that both the levels of visual saliency and complexity were greater for the photographs taken from the high eye-height than those from the low eye-height. The results indicate a possible difference in sensory properties of visual scenes perceived from two different heights, potentially exposing taller individuals to richer and more diverse sensory experiences than shorter individuals.

  • Chronotype (CT) is defined as an inter-individual difference in sleep-wake cycles and daily activities. Previous studies have suggested that this individual difference can influence our biological and psychological functioning. Literature regarding the psychometric properties and validity of CT measures are reviewed. We provide an overview of biological indicators (sleep-wake cycle, body temperature, cortisol, and melatonin) that are used for distinguishing two chronotypes: morningness (MT) and eveningness (ET). We also review the differences between CT in relation to personality traits and the occurrence of psychopathology. In addition, the methodological limitations of studies on CT are discussed. Finally, future research directions in terms of CT are proposed.
