This study focused on the use of peer assessment activities to investigate its the impact on students' argumentation skills in argument-based inquiry. The participants of the study were 106 10th grade students (four classes). Two classes were assigned to the experimental group, and the other two classes were assigned to the comparative group. The experimental group was taught argument-based inquiry through the application of peer assessment activities. The comparative group was taught argument-based inquiry without peer assessments. At the claim and evidence stage, students were asked to evaluate whether peers' claims fit with the evidence and whether peers' explanation of the evidences validity was sufficient. The quality of argumentation used in the students' writing was different in each group. According to the analysis of the summary writing test, the results showed that the experimental group had a significantly higher mean score than the comparative group in argumentation components, including evidence and warrant/backing. In addition, the experimental group used better multimodal representation including explanation of evidence than the comparative group. The findings showed that argument-based inquiry applying peer assessment activities had an effect on the argumentation skills in students' writing.

Objective : The purpose of this study was to identify effects of intensive sensory integration (SI) treatment and home-program for a child who has a sensory integration disorder. This study also examined whether the positive effect is long-lasting by a follow-up test. Method : A boy with sensory integration dysfunction underwent an intensive SI treatment for 2 weeks. The intervention was consisted of 9 sessions and duration of the each session was 40 minutes. Sensory diet and Wilbarger protocol was provided as home program. The child's sensory function was evaluated before and after the SI intervention. Five month later, re-evaluation was executed for follow-up purpose. Results : In the evaluation after the Si intervention, the child's sensory defensiveness was decreased. Praxis, visual perception, sensory regulation dysfunction (sleep function), affective stabilization and performance of activities of daily living are also improved. In the re-evaluation after the 5 month later, the self-regulation ability, especially sleep function, has been maintained and the visual perception was developing continually. However, the child showed some affective regulation such as bothering his mother and losing his temper. Conclusions : The intensive SI intervention showed positive effects in terms of SI function improvement and the effect lasted long without any additional therapeutic intervention.
The purpose of this study was to develop a group bibliotherapy program for improvement of elementary school students' self-esteem and to examine its effects. The subjects in this study were 20 children who were selected from 120 sixth graders at H elementary school in Gwangju Metropolitan city. They are randomly allocated at experiment group(n=10) and control group(n=10). Twelve sessions were administrated to experiment group for group bilbiotherapy and each session had run 40 minutes. Data were collected through the self-esteem inventory which was originated from Coopersmith's Self-Esteem Inventory(1967) and Chang(2001) translated and modified and the researcher remodified for this study. The collected data were analysed through ANCOVA. Research results were as followings. First, the experimental group showed a significant increase in the level as compared with the control group. Second, the experimental group showed significant increase in the level of general Self-Esteem, social Self-Esteem, homely Self-Esteem, but showed no significant increase in the level of schoolwork Self-Esteem as compared with the control group. The results showed that the group bibliotherapy has significant effect on the improvement of elementary school students self-esteem.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of social skill training on the class cohesiveness of Elementary School students. The experimental group received 12 times of the social skills training for 6 week period. And each training session which lasted for 40 minutes took place twice a week. A total of 59 5th grade students in randomly selected two classes of D Elementary School in N. Gyongsang participated in this study. They were divided into the two groups, again at random; an experimental group(N=30, Male=18, Female=12) and a control group(N=29, Male=15, Female=14). In this study, the class cohesiveness performance test reorganized into 20 items for the level of elementary students by Shin-suk Gang, was applied, after complemented. And, the collected data were analysed through SPSS 14.0. T-test was applied to find out the difference of the average between the experimental group and the control group and the average difference in the pre-and post-test of the experimental group alone, and to see whether the control group and the experimental group are homogeneous. The research design of this study is pre-and post-test control group design. The result of this study is as follows: The result of Independent t-test and Paried t-test on the cohesiveness score and sub-factor scores tells us that the experimental group which received the social skills training showed better achievement that deserves our attention compared to the control group. This result suggests that student's class cohesiveness(class atmosphere, mutual trust, morale, a sense of unity, communication) is positively affected by the social skill training. Accordingly, social skill training which develops class cohesiveness can be an effective strategy for elementary school students to make them more intimate and cooperative with their classmates.
The purpose of this study was to verify the effects of a conflict resolution program on conflict resolution strategies and friendship quality of children. The subjects of this study were higher-grader students of elementary school. Out of the students, 18 were into the experimental group, while the rest were into the control-group. The experimental design was the pretest-posttest control group design, and the 50-minutes conflict resolution program was treated for the experimental group twice per week (a total of 11 sessions). The scale of conflict resolution strategies presented by Ha Ji Wean (2005) and the scale of friendship quality of children presented by Rhee Un Hai and Koh Yun Joo (1999) were used as the measurement tools in this study. In order to supply the limitations of quantitative data, the journals of group participation of each session and the participation reports after the completion of the program were qualitatively analyzed. The results of hypotheses verification were as follows; First, conflict resolution strategies conflict was significant difference in enhancement of the compromising-integrating strategy and the obliging strategy, and reduction of the dominating strategy. Second, friendship quality was significant difference in enhancement of the friendship positive function, and friendship satisfaction, and in reduction of the friendship negative aspect, The results of the study confirmed that the conflict resolution program affected both conflict resolution strategies and the friendship quality of children.
The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of using process-based writing poems in the elementary mathematics classrooms. For this study, we chose 128 elementary school students to examine their mathematical achievements and attitude towards mathematics when using process-centered writing poems in the elementary mathematics classrooms. Process-based mathematics and writing programs developed mainly on the geometry units were composed of four levels, idea generation, idea selection, use and idea organization grouped into similar sections in order to separate into two sections. The results of the practice of this study's problem can be summarized as follows. First, the process-based mathematics and writing activity of geometry had a positive impact on academic achievement in mathematics. Although there was not a significant difference in the fourth and fifth grades, significant differences in the fifth and sixth grade were found. Second, in regards to attitudes in mathematics, process-based mathematics and writing activities had a positive impact. In particular, the improvement of mathematical attitudes was evident in all grades. It confirmed the effective facilitation of interest and enjoyment towards learning mathematics by 4th, 5th and 6th graders who had undertaken these mathematics classes.
This research is about how infants' multi-cultural recognition and their sphere of activity can be changed when married immigrant women and infants' homeroom teachers were put together in the infants' multi-cultural teaching program. The subjects(children under 5) were selected in "S" city of Gyeonggi-do, South Korea. And they were divided into experimental group 1, experimental group 2, and the control group. And this research did a pretest and post-test for the 60 children. The result of this research can be summarized into three parts. Therefore, it is possible to suggest that the improvement of infants' diversity recognition is affected by a certain kind of teacher and that he/ she can improve the infants' play ability. Experimental group 1 is proceeded by both married immigrant woman and the infants's homeroom teacher. Experimental group 2 was managed by only the homeroom teacher who was going through the same program as the teachers above. The control group was managed by a general nurturing program. This research did do a pretest and post-test for this experiment. -by Chun-Ok. Lee was used for infant's multi-cultural measurement. Mee-sook. Kim's measurement was used for measurement of playfulness between same age children. Meaningful differences was exposed in experimental group 1, experimental group 2, and the control group in sequence. The two experimental groups who had experienced a multi-cultural program seemed to have higher playfulness.

As car-oriented road policies have been made forward so far, relatively pedestrians' walking conditions are so in poor environments that more than two thousand pedestrians die from car accidents every year. Pedestrians' walking right has been severely invaded like that. Pedestrians' walking right is a right that people are able to walk safely and comfortably in pleasant surroundings as long as they don't threaten the public safety, order maintenance, and welfare. The government has an obligation to provide safe, comfortable, and pleasant environments to pedestrians. Recently interests in pedestrians' safety are increasing, government-driven supports have been made to make safe, pleasant, and healthy walking surroundings. As poor walking condition improvement projects cost high, they should be progressed to accomplish maximal effects using finite finances efficiently, and post feasibility evaluations of the projects should be severely estimated. However site selecting indicators which satisfy with the goal for composing safe working surroundings have not been decided yet, though currently it has a legal basis to specify walking condition improvement sites by the Law for Pedestrians' safety and Comfort Increasement. Therefore this study focuses on suggesting improved ways for selecting sites where pedestrians' safe environment project by reviewing previous research. When project sites are selected, evaluation indicators related to awareness survey of residents and history should be excluded, and disaster safety assessments for walking safety facilities, latent human hazards and natural disasters like a strong wind are proposed besides evaluations on pedestrians' safety and walking environment for matching with the purpose of the project to make safe working surroundings.
Radial collector wells (RCWs) have been managed by Korea Rural Community Corporation (KRC) since 1983, installing 98 wells for agriculture in rural area over the country. Among them, 20 wells were installed upstream of 5 subsurface dams and the remaining were installed regardless of the subsurface dam. Most of RCWs have been developed in 1980s and 1990s, and 83 wells have been passed more than 20 years after construction. The number of horizontal arms for RCWs varies from 9 to 28, with length and diameter being 10~30 m and 65 mm, respectively. The central caisson with an inner diameter of 3.5 m was commonly constructed to a depth of 10 m. The maximum pumping rates in RCWs, which are located at distances of 10 to 1,200 m from the river, are 2,000~10,000 m3/day. RCW has a fundamental problem that reduced pumping capacity and degraded well efficiency, due to the physical and chemical clogging. From the feasibility test for improving RCW performance, specific capacity increased to 67% after rehabilitation. TV logging for RCW horizontal arm shows that near the caisson is more severe clogging. From the results of this study, KRC has established the guidebook for monitoring and improving well efficiency through physical/chemical treatment, well logging, and hydraulic tests and managed RCWs periodically with its rehabilitation methods.
This study is a research based on the non-equivalent control group pretest-posttest design whose purpose is to examine the effects of music therapy on the anxiety of patients who take the Intravenous Urography test and their feeling of discomfort during the test. "The first hypothesis that the experimental group who receive music therapy will be lower in score for anxiety during the Intravenous UrographyI test than the control group who do not was supported because after the therapy, the experimental group was found significantly decreased in that score in comparison to the control group. "The second hypothesis that the experimental group who receive music therapy will be fewer in vital signs after the Intravenous Urography test than the control group who do not" was rejected in terms of both systolic and diastolic blood pressure. But the same hypothesis was partially supported because the two groups showed a significant difference in pulse rate after the test. "The third hypothesis that the experimental group who receive music therapy will be less in the feeling of subjective discomfort during the Intravenous Urography test than the control group who do not" was verified to find that the two groups were significantly different from each other in the feeling. Specifically, there was a significant difference between the two groups in only one sub-area of that These findings suggest that music therapy could be an alternative method which can effectively reduce the state anxiety of patients during the Intravenous Urography test.
