  • As the viewpoint of data evolves from business resources to value resources, the focus on the data processing is rapidly shifting from the cartesian (alphanumeric) to the contextual. In response to this trend, the government is actively promoting the utilization of public data by the private sectors. With a focus on the fact that the mainstream of public data users is the crowds, this study, therefore, seeks to identify differences between the members and the crowds from information processing view, followed by presenting directions and main points for the design of data platform. This study is perhaps to be a starting point for finding practical alternatives for creating 'collective intelligence ecosystem' and to be a basis for building a big data base in response to the opening of public data.

  • In big-data environments wherein large amounts of text documents are produced daily, titles are very important clues that enable a prompt catching of the key ideas in documents; however, titles are absent for numerous document types such as blog articles and social-media messages. In this paper, a title-generation model for which sequence-to-sequence RNNs with attention and copying mechanisms are employed is proposed. For the proposed model, input sentences are encoded based on bi-directional GRU (gated recurrent unit) networks, and the title words are generated through a decoding of the encoded sentences with keywords that are automatically selected from the input sentences. Regarding the experiments with 93631 training-data documents and 500 test-data documents, the attention-mechanism performances are more effective (ROUGE-1: 0.1935, ROUGE-2: 0.0364, ROUGE-L: 0.1555) than those of the copying mechanism; in addition, the qualitative-evaluation radiative performance of the former is higher.

  • The k-anonymity scheme has been widely used to protect private information when Big Data are distributed to a third party for research purposes. When the scheme is applied, an optimal k value determination is one of difficult problems to be resolved because many factors should be considered. Currently, the determination has been done almost manually by human experts with their intuition. This leads to degrade performance of the anonymization, and it takes much time and cost for them to do a task. To overcome this problem, a simple idea has been proposed that is based on machine learning. This paper describes implementations and experiments to realize the proposed idea. In thi work, a deep neural network (DNN) is implemented using tensorflow libraries, and it is trained and tested using input dataset. The experiment results show that a trend of training errors follows a typical pattern in DNN, but for validation errors, our model represents a different pattern from one shown in typical training process. The advantage of the proposed approach is that it can reduce time and cost for experts to determine k value because it can be done semi-automatically.

  • Due to globalization, diversification, and informatization, modern society confronts change and crisis in a variety of areas such as economy, politics, and culture. In that context, mathematics educators seek for how to reform school mathematics for democratic and just society. This research proposes critical mathematics education as an alternative model of school mathematics for democratic society. In particular, this research is an explorative study to construct a model of critical mathematics education program. For the purpose, we conducted a comprehensive literature review to identify goals, contents, and methods of teaching and learning, and method of assessment for critical mathematics education. We checked the validity of the model by using the cases of critical mathematics education. Since this research is explorative in the regard that the model is based on theoretical literatures, further research is necessary to extend the model through design research in school context.

  • In February 2018, the Korean government established the "Comprehensive Plans for Government Innovation" in order to realize 'the people-centered government'. The core of the comprehensive plans is participation of the people, which is very similar to open innovation where social issues are solved by ideas and capabilities of the private sector rather than those of the government. Therefore, this study was conducted by extracting open innovation topics through topic modeling based on LDA(Latent Dirichlet Allocation) as English abstract-data from 2003, when the plans for open innovation was first announced, to April 2018. Based on the extracted results, it also conducted a comparative analysis with "Comprehensive Plans for Government Innovation." The study has significant implications in that it derives the relationship between the subjects, analyzes the present policies of Korea on open innovation and suggests directions for development.

  • Curriculum is essential for primary and secondary education. The development of the 2022 revised curriculum, which is Korea's national level curriculum has been completed. Nevertheless, the library and information life, which are curriculums for information literacy instruction remain in the structure of the 2009 curriculum. In this study, I analyze the structure and contents of the curriculum for information utilization education in Pennsylvania, USA, identify trends in information literacy instruction, and present the direction of revision of library and information life. The Pennsylvania curriculum for information literacy instruction has an overall structure consisting of long-term transfer goals, big ideas(inquire, include, collaborate, curate, explore, engage), concepts, competencies, and essential questions. In addition, there is a detailed structure consisting of stage l(desired results), stage 2(assessment evidence of learning) and stage (learning plan).

  • The purpose of this study is to derive suggestions and implications to strengthen the science curriculum continuity of Korea through comparative analysis with focus on the continuity of science curriculum in six countries (Taiwan, the United Kingdom, Finland, the United States, Canada, Korea). Original and Korean translations of the national curriculums of each country gathered from NCIC comparatively analyzed the contents of the 'Moon' and 'Rock cycle' based on features of curriculum configuration, vertical, and lateral connectivity. As a result, it was found that the concepts of Big Ideas or Cross-cutting Concept was utilized internationally to strengthen the linkage between grades or subjects. In particular, dealing with the aspect of the system was important. In the comparison of countries for the content, Korea deals with the most frequency on the 'Moon' and 'Rock cycle'. The contents of the chapter about the moon were simply repeated from elementary to high school levels with some variation. Korean science curriculum holds different perspectives and contents about the Rock cycle compared to other countries. In conclusion, Korea's curriculum requires appropriate tools to strengthen curriculum linkage and by doing so, it will be able to take advantage of the systems approach. Moreover, it is important to constitute the curriculum based on a sufficient understanding of the learning development of students according to their grade levels for the effective application of the curriculum.

  • This study aims to drive the implications for the structure of mathematics curriculum documents in Korea, exploring the coherence in the documental structure of the IB DP mathematics curriculum, which is gaining international attention. The documents of the IB DP mathematics curriculum were analyzed based on the coherence of external and internal structures. First, the curriculum was consistently described by subject and topic, presenting the table of contents and structure of the documents in the same format. Second, the descriptions of the curriculum between subjects and within the subjects were consistent through the same composition of the subject and assessment methods, the presentation of big ideas, and 'Guidance, clarification and syllabus links'. Third, in 'Connections', the curriculum documents were described with coherence through linking with other subjects by describing the connection plan with the real-world contexts, other subjects, and the 'Theory of Knowledge' in the IB curriculum. Based on these findings and implications for the concreteness and consistency of the components in mathematics curriculum documents, we propose the coherence between the presentation of subject areas and assessment methods of the revised curriculum, and the implementation of coherence in documental structure through links with other subjects.
