Domed Stadium, Medicine or Poison? An Analysis of Social Discourse on the Construction of a Domed Stadium Produced in the Media (돔구장, 약인가? 독인가?: 미디어에 나타난 돔구장 건설 관련 사회적 담론 분석)

  • The purpose of this paper was to analyze a social discourse on the construction of a domed stadium produced in the media. In particular, the article sought to explore and interpret the political, economical, social and cultural contexts of the building of a domed stadium by looking at how media sources with newspapers as the central source of information have produced and formed social discourses regarding the construction of a domed stadium. In a concluding perspective it was confirmed that the three aspects of social discourses have been produced and formed. First, a 'approval' discourse supporting the building of a domed stadium has been produced and formed. Second, a 'opposite' discourse criticizing it has been produced and formed. Third, in the confrontation between the approval and opposition of the building of a domed stadium, a 'governance' discourse, which the construction of a domed stadium should be solved rationally through the communication and involvement of the private and governmental sectors, has been produced.

An Analysis of Problem-Posing Tasks in 7th grade Mathematics Textbooks Based on 2015 National Mathematics Curriculum (2015 개정 교육과정에 따른 수학교과서 문제제기 과제 분석 : 중학교 1학년을 중심으로)

  • This study analyzed how problem-posing tasks included in Korean middle school mathematics textbooks were distributed in terms of content area, task type, and context of task to investigate that the mathematics textbooks are giving students ample opportunities for problem-posing activities. The analysis of 10 mathematics textbooks for first grade in middle school according to the revised mathematics curriculum in 2015 found that the problem-posing tasks contained in the textbooks are insufficient in quantity and not evenly distributed in terms of content areas. There were also more problem-posing tasks with relatively moderate constraints than those with strong or weak constraints in terms of mathematical constraints. In addition, there were more problem-posing tasks that were not requiring students to make a new context, and more often camouflage contexts were used. Based on this, implications for improving mathematics problem-posing tasks in mathematics textbook were suggested.

Collective Understanding through Social Mediational Processes in a Collaborative Workshop between Science Teachers and Researchers: Focusing on 'Conflict' Aspect (과학 교사-연구자간 협력적 워크숍에서 사회적 중재를 통한 집합적 이해 과정: '갈등' 양상을 중심으로)

  • Recently, there have been growing interest in teachers' professional development since teachers were regarded as a critical factor in the context of the reform efforts. Along with these efforts, educational researchers have continued to implement various programs to improve teachers' subject matter knowledge, beliefs, and their practices. Although considerable researches have been done regarding the efficiency of these programs, most of them have focused on individual teacher's change. However, a "teacher's mind is socially formed" (Edwards, 2001). This perspective indicates that teacher change is necessarily viewed in terms of social mediational process between individual and the social context. This study examines the interactions between teachers and researchers in order to explore the mediational processes and the aspects of collective understanding, which has emerged from the collaborative workshop. The data were collected from small group activities in a workshop and then analyzed using interactional sociolinguistic approach. Futhermore, activity system was employed to describe the social mediational process. The findings show that participating teachers constructed knowledge through conflict regarding collective understanding. This process of collective understanding was mediated by object, rules, and roles within each activity system. Findings from the study suggest that the sociocultural perspectives to teacher education are essential in understanding how teachers learn to teach and that teachers' professional discourse can play a significant role in teachers' professional development.

A Comparative Analysis of Instructional Methods on the Properties of Multiplication in Elementary Mathematics Textbooks of Korea, Japan, and the US (한국, 일본, 미국의 초등학교 수학교과서에서 범자연수 곱셈의 연산 성질을 지도하는 방안에 대한 비교·분석)

  • Even though the properties of operations in multiplication serve a fundamental basis of conceptual understanding the multiplication with whole numbers for elementary students, there has been lack of research in this field. Given this, the purpose of this study was to analyze instructional methods related to the properties of operations in multiplication (i.e., commutative property of multiplication, associative property of multiplication, distributive property of multiplication over addition) in a series of mathematics textbooks of Korea, Japan, and the US. The overall analysis was conducted in the following two aspects: (a) when and how to deal with the properties of multiplication in three instructional context (i.e., introduction, application, generalization), and (b) what models use to represent the properties of multiplication. The results of this showed that overall similarities in introducing the properties of multiplication .in (one digit) ${\times}$ (one digit) as well as emphasizing the divers representation. However, subtle but meaningful differences were analyzed in applying and generalizing the properties of multiplication. Based on these results, this paper closes with some implications on how to teach the properties of operations in multiplication properties in elementary mathematics.

에너지 사용 맥락을 통한 AMI 네트워크에서의 데이터 이상 감지 방법론 제안

  • 현재 우리나라는 2013년 제주 스마트그리드 실증단지사업을 완료한 이후, 현재 AMI 및 ESS 보급사업을 진행 중이고 더불어 주요 7~8개 도시에 대한 스마트그리드 시티 사업도 준비 중에 있다. 스마트그리드 인프라의 본격적인 확산과 더불어 가장 우려되는 사안 중의 하나가 사이버 보안 이슈이며, 이는 기존의 주요 전력망 보안정책이 폐쇄망 운영을 골자로 하고 있다는 점에서 볼 때 상충되는 측면이 있다. 스마트그리드의 중심이 기존의 대형 전력망 중심에서 스마트 홈 기반 중심으로 옮겨가면서, 전력망은 외부 네트워크와의 연결성이 강화되고 있으며 통신 분야에서 진행되어 오던 사물통신(Internet of Things: IoT) 개념과 결합하면서 그 개방성의 진행이 가속화되고 있다. 따라서 기존의 폐쇄망 정책만으로는 보안성을 확보하는데 명확한 한계가 존재하며 시대적 조류에도 부합하지 않기 때문에, 새로운 패러다임이 필요한 때라고 판단된다. 그 대안 중의 하나로 개방 네트워크로 인해 증가하는 연결성을 보안 위협의 루트가 아닌 보안성을 강화하기 위한 환경으로 활용하는 것이다. 촘촘히 연결된 네트워크를 통해 각 개체가 서로를 상호 모니터링 함으로써 전체 시스템이 오염되는 것을 막을 수 있다. IoT의 도입을 통해 기기 간에는 사회적 연결성이 강화될 것이며, 이러한 연결성과 그 안에 숨겨진 맥락을 통해 이상 여부를 사전에 감지해낼 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 그러한 사회적 관계성에 근거하여 AMI 네트워크에서의 이상 징후를 감지하기 위한 기본적 방법론을 제안하고자 한다.

Visual factor and Style Analysis of Web Design (웹사이트 화면디자인의 시각요소와 스타일 분석)

  • To show the analytic approach to website sue, this paper discusses style's function that is immediately related to users emotional and aesthetic satisfaction. And we make an analysis of several websites based on various visual factors. Style provides emotion, a shared experience, context that makes the message arts function immediately apparent, and interests. It is a principle design feature that parallels cognitive function. Visual factors of website interface could be extracted from various aspects which are organization level, medial level, and formative level. Based on the extracted visual factors, we analyze the style which convey emotional idea. We select several sites which are opposite side in the image map with son-hard and warm-cool axis, and then make an analysis of them in two points which are organization and formative factors and communication means for emotional effect. To understand the systematic approach to website style could be helpful for figuring out the design problems and bringing out many solutions. It could be base for concrete guideline for website page design.

A Semiotic In-depth Analysis of the Children's Picture Book : "Who Pooped on My Head?" (그림책 "누가 내 머리에 똥 쌌어?" 의 심층의미 분석 - Greimas기호학을 중심으로 -)

  • This study analyzed picture book "Who Pooped on my Head?" by using semiotic theories and considered involved meaning of the text. Because characteristics of children's development and picture book should be in harmony, it is necessary to understand the text in-depth. As a result of analysis, the text helps psychological stability and contains the meaning and value that guides children into social value or norm. Analyzing the text by using Greimas' Semiotic square, the meaning that following bowel movement standard is socially established behavior was involved. It seems that giving up instinct and accepting standard are process to extend thought. In conclusion, this study confirmed that the meaning and value that support cognitive and emotional development was contained in the picture book, "Who Pooped on my Head?".

  • Recent changes in the industrial parks have become a major issue in the nation's economic aspect. However, the industrial park's structure-advance projects under regional changes have excluded the surrounding spaces. The purpose of study is to analyze physical characteristics of Industrial park and adjacent area and to propose practical urban linkage alternatives as place-making It was found that in an urban aspect, the industrial parks belong within the city, but look like an isolated island that doesn't belong to a city. Therefore, as a way that could improve the problems above, and prevent the formation of heterogeneous spaces, the deliberate management of Industrial park's structure-advancement projects is needed. As one of these measures, It is concluded that the review of designating industrial facility zones which is a district unit plan and managing the detailed elements of construction to the various elements of the district level are needed.

  • The purpose of this paper is to review the importance of situated cognition and the features of MOO(Multi-user Object Oriented)environments for effective foreign language learning. Learning foreign languages is beyond simply recalling for the vocabularies or expression usages of targeted languages. As much the same as children naturally acquire their mother languages among active and social interactions with other surrounding people, foreign languages should be told in the circumstances and contexts for authentic applications of foreign languages. The MOO, one of the virtual realities with spatial metaphors on the text basis, has been gaining high attentions from educational fields, thanks to the strong functions of social contexts and learner interactions. This paper approaches the features of MOO as foreign language learning environments, in terms of activity, context and interaction.

Development of Data-Driven Science Inquiry Model and Strategy for Cultivating Knowledge-Information-Processing Competency (지식정보처리역량 함양을 위한 데이터 기반 과학탐구 모형 개발)

  • The knowledge-information-processing competency is the most essential competency in a knowledge-information-based society and is the most fundamental competency in the new problem-solving ability. Data-driven science inquiry, which emphasizes how to find and solve problems using vast amounts of data and information, is a way to cultivate the problem-solving ability in a knowledge-information-based society. Therefore, this study aims to develop a teaching-learning model and strategy for data-driven science inquiry and to verify the validity of the model in terms of knowledge information processing competency. This study is developmental research. Based on literature, the initial model and strategy were developed, and the final model and teaching strategy were completed by securing external validity through on-site application and internal validity through expert advice. The development principle of the inquiry model is the literature study on science inquiry, data science, and a statistical problem-solving model based on resource-based learning theory, which is known to be effective for the knowledge-information-processing competency and critical thinking. This model is titled "Exploratory Scientific Data Analysis" The model consisted of selecting tools, collecting and analyzing data, finding problems and exploring problems. The teaching strategy is composed of seven principles necessary for each stage of the model, and is divided into instructional strategies and guidelines for environment composition. The development of the ESDA inquiry model and teaching strategy is not easy to generalize to the whole school level because the sample was not large, and research was qualitative. While this study has a limitation that a quantitative study over large number of students could not be carried out, it has significance that practical model and strategy was developed by approaching the knowledge-information-processing competency with respect of science inquiry.
