Task-Oriented Intervention for Improvement of Visuomotor Coordination and Fine Motor Coordination Functions in Developmental Delayed Child : A Single-Subject Design (발달지연 아동의 시-운동 협응 및 소운동 협응 기능 향상을 위한 과제지향의 중재(task-oriented intervention) 적용: 단일대상연구)

  • Purpose : This study aims to identify changes in the visuomotor coordination and fine motor coordination functions caused by the use of a task-oriented intervention in a child with developmental delay. Methods : The participant, who was a 6-year-old girl, was not diagnosed but showed a developmental delay in overall function. The study period was February 5, 2021, to June 4, 2021, and a single-subject A-B study design was used. The baseline (A) was initially evaluated in the first three sessions to identify the child's functions. In the intervention period, 12 session (B), task-oriented intervention was applied; the child engaged in many of the activities in kindergarten, such as painting, writing, making, and cutting with scissors. Visuomotor coordination and fine motor coordination were equally measured during the baseline and intervention periods. Visuomotor coordination was measured via drawing of an oval according to the Korean Developmental Test of Visual Perception 3 (K-DTVP-3), and fine motor coordination was assessed using the finger-nose touching item of the Clinical Observation of Motor and Postural Skills (COMPS). Results : The mean of the baseline of the K-DTVP-3 oval drawing was 23, and the mean of the intervention period was 39.66. The mean of the baseline of the COMPS finger-nose touching was 0, and the mean of the intervention period was 5.08. Conclusion : Task-oriented intervention seems to have a positive effect on the visuomotor coordination and fine motor coordination abilities of children with developmental delay.

A study of the search for a good secondary science classes: a case study of the alternative school students ('좋은 중등 과학 수업'에 대한 탐색: 대안학교 학생의 사례를 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate secondary students' perception of a good secondary science classes. Subjects were 18 secondary students who enrolled in alternative school located in Korea. The instruments of this study was a questionnaire which consisted of 18 items on 4 domains. Also data were collected from in-deep interviews and students' drawing. The results of the study were summarized as follows; First, students explained that good schools have the characteristics of the interesting and respectful atmosphere. Also there are good relationships between teachers and students. Second, they emphasized that good teachers are humanistic teachers. Third, good science classes are based on the constructivism in terms of the education methods. The results suggest that it may be necessary to remodel the merits of the alternative schools to solve the problem of public school. It is important to develop expertise of the science teachers in alternative school through teacher education programs based on the constructivism. Also it is necessary to provide appropriate learning space and various media for effective science teaching and learning in alternative school.

The Effects of Small-group Discussion Lesson Using Concept Sketches in Astronomy of Earth Science (지구과학 천문 영역에서 개념스케치를 활용한 소집단 토론 수업의 효과)

  • Among the various fields of Earth Science, especially in Astronomy, we often deal with the change of space-time in an abstract way. Thus, making use of 'Concept Sketches'-simplified sketches that represent the main features, principles, processes and interrelationships of the learning content by using some concise explanations, signs and terms could help the students efficiently learn the phenomena of Astronomy. This study's aim was to check its effects and analyze the results of the lessons that included concept sketches and a discussion about the field of Earth Science in high school. The control group took traditional lessons, while the experimental group did a small-group discussion that used the concept sketches. After the lesson, some students were chosen to answer a questionnaire and go through an in-depth interview. The result of the data shows that the small-group discussion lesson that used the concept sketches helped both the high-ranking and low-ranking students to build concepts and was able to attract students' attention. Moreover, the students produced long-term memories of the content learned through the class discussion, which allowed them to exchange their own thoughts and opinions with other students. Most of all, drawing pictures, a familiar activity, appealed to the students, so they took part in the class eagerly.

Performance Comparison of the Recognition Methods of a Touched Area on a Touch-Screen Panel for Embedded Systems (임베디드 시스템을 위한 터치스크린 패널의 터치 영역 인식 기법의 성능 비교)

  • In case of an embedded system having an LCD panel with touch-screen capability, various figures such as rectangles, pentagons, circles, and arrows are frequently used for the delivery of user-input commands. In such a case, it is necessary to have an algorithm that can recognize whether a touched location is within a figure on which a specific user-input command is assigned. Such algorithms, however, impose a considerable amount of overhead for embedded systems with restricted amount of computing resources. This paper first describes a method for initializing and driving a touch-screen LCD and a coordinate-calibration method that converts touch-screen coordinates into LCD panel coordinates. Then it introduces methods that can be used for recognizing touched areas of rectangles, many-sided figures like pentagons, and circles; they are a range checking method for rectangles, a crossing number checking method for many-sided figures, a distance measurement method for circles, and a color comparison method that can be applied to all figures. In order to evaluate the performance of these methods, we implement two-dimensional graphics functions for drawing figures like triangles, rectangles, circles, and images. Then, we draw such figures and measures times spent for the touched-area recognition of these figures. Measurements show that the range checking is the most suitable method for rectangles, the distance measurement for circles, and the color comparison for many-sided figures and images.

Study on production of visionary drawings with 『Oksogo(玉所稿)』 (『옥소고(玉所稿)』 소재(所載) 몽화(夢畵)의 제작(製作)에 대한 연구(硏究))

  • The purpose of this script is to understand general issues related to production of visionary drawing and correct the fault of previous research by examining the data on visionary drawing featured on Ok So Kwon-Seop's anthology, "Oksogo(玉所稿)" the summary of its contents are as follows. First by analyzing the status of visionary drawings, in among "Oksogo(玉所稿)" which is Ok So's manuscript collection, there are 56 pieces in Je Chun Bon (edition) and 47 in Moon Kyoung Bon(edition). And recorded dreams in visionary drawings are centralized when Ok So was in his late 50's to 70's. And it is estimated that the visionary drawings are the collection of work done by many artists in long period of time. It was confirmed that Kwon Seop himself did not participated in drawings but were done by his brother Kwon Young, his grandson Kwon Shin Eung and Cho Se Gul, the artist from Pyoung Yang. Also visionary drawings were produced in youth years and among the visionary drawings that can be ascertain about the produced year and the oldest is by Cho Se Gul which was estimated to be done in 1695. And the last one to be completed was which was a dream in 1756 turned into a drawing and this was produced between 1756 to 1759 which was a year Ok So passed away. Production of Ki Seung Chup (album) or Mong-Wha Chup (album) was accomplished as follows. When Ok So records his dream in writing he receives response poem from a person he was in dream with and ask artist to draw the vision in dream, then the drawing and scripts were compiled and made into an album. With this some of the issues on visionary drawings featured on "Oksogo(玉所稿)" would have been settled. Recently, 2 more volumes of Ok So's anthology were photo-printed and published and hopefully those issues that was unable to settle in this script will have more detailed answers by discovering new and undisclosed data.

A Study on Changes in the Images of Children Possessed by Applicants for the Department of Early Childhood Education after They Enter the Department (유아교육과 지원자의 유아에 대한 이미지와 입학 후 유아에 대한 이미지 변화 연구)

  • The purpose of the present study was to examine the images of children possessed by applicants for the department of early childhood education and find out how the images of children have been changed when the applicants have entered the department from successful applicants. Study subjects were 328 applicants for the department of early childhood education and 25 students who passed the entrance examination and completed the first year. Data were collected by painting metaphors and the contents of the collected data were analyzed. According to the results of analysis, the images of children possessed by applicants for the department of early childhood education were 'beings that require sincerity, love, and attention', 'beings that must be taught and led', 'beings that are liberal and characterful', 'beings that are bright and pure and give happiness', 'beings that have potential for learning and growth' and 'beings that are soft and weak' and when one year had passed after the entrance into the department, the images of children possessed by the students were changed into the subjects of teaching by the students as teachers and images based on developmental knowledge of childhood.

A Simple and Fast Algorithm for Real-time Pencil Strokes (간단하고 빠른 실시간 연필 스트로크 알고리즘)

  • In this paper, we present a new algorithm which imitate real pencil strokes. The purpose of research on NPR(Non-Photorealistic Rendering) is simulating automatically manmade artistic expressions such as pen-and-ink illustrations, watercolor paintings, pencil sketches and pastel drawings with computers. Recently, there has been a great deal of research works on NPR. One of them is researching in pencil illustration methods for NPR, and a lot of researchers have investigated into the LIC(Linear Integral Convolution) techniques which would change the initial images into the output images by directional vector field images for generating effects of pencil. However, the LIC techniques can not be applied to real-time drawing tools because they are post processing techniques. This paper presents a real-time pencil strokes algorithm which is based on an observation of how pencils(from 6B to 6H) draw lines. Although this algorithm using some pencil variables and noise generation is simple, it is fast and also can draw real-time pencil strokes similar to real manmade pencil strokes in a GUI drawing tool.

Development of SW convergence Education program for the patriotism applying Novel Engineering (Novel Engineering을 적용한 SW융합형 호국보훈 수업 방안)

  • The purpose of this study is to describe the SW Convergence education class applying the Novel Engineering teaching method during the creative experiential activity time. We developed a SW convergence education program for a patriotism class applying Novel Engineering, a new educational method instead of writing and drawing. Through this lesson program, students can improve their problem-solving ability based on their computational thinking and enhance their love spirit about country. Students read a book that tells the story of patriot, writes the historical scene presented in the book through scenarios through Re-enactment, and implements the simulation situation using Lego WeDo 2.0. The results of this study based on the analysis of the data on the questionnaire showed that there is a significant students' change through the SW convergence education program for patriotism class. In the future, we will expand the scope to more various grades and subjects so that we can generalize the effectiveness of SW convergence education applying Novel Engineering.

  • The Skeleton Tower problem is an example of a curriculum that integrates algebra and geometry. Finding the number of the cubes in the tower can be approached in more than one way, such as counting arithmetically, drawing geometric diagrams, enumerating various possibilities or rules, or using algebraic equations, which makes the tasks accessible to students with varied prior knowledge and experience. So, it will be a good topic which can be used in the elementary grades if we exclude the method of using algebraic equations. The purpose of this paper is to propose some points which can be considered with attention by gifted children education teachers by analyzing the 4th Skeleton Tower problem solutions made by 3rd and 4th graders in their selection test who applied for the education of gifted children in math at J University for the year of 2010.

The Type of Enneagram and the Meaning of Mandalas by the Nursing Students (간호대학생의 에니어그램 성격유형과 만다라 분석)

  • The aim of this study was to understand the psychological characteristics of nursing students, using an Enneagram questionnaire and drawing a free mandala. The subjects were 127 students from a nursing university in South Chungcheong Province. The data were collected from October 16 to November 13, 2020 and analyzed using χ2 test, t-test, ANOVA, and Scheffé test with SPSS ver.25.0. Mandala analysis method and evaluation criteria of Mandala referred to the Fincher(1991), Kellogg(1977), and Jeong Yeo-ju(2001), and a total of three people discussed the adequacy and clarity of the analysis criteria composition system. The findings of this study can be summarized as follows. As a result of the study, there were significant differences between the thinking type in the case of overwhelming color, the instinct type in the case of light and dark, and the thinking type and emotion type in the case of the Great mandala. Through the results of this study, it is necessary to understand one's personality type in the nursing education process from the freshman year, identify strengths and weaknesses, and provide a process that can be supplemented.
