  • The aim of this study is to investigate the influence of graphic calculator in the teaming of function of the underachieved students in the second grade of middle school. Under this purpose of the study, we devised the instruction-plan which incorporates the using of graphic calculator into the traditional paper-and-pencil teaming environments, and executed the function-instruction with the underachieved students according to the devised instruction-plan. During the lesson hours, we observed and analysed the contributions and the carefulness of using graphic calculator in the learning of function of the underachieved students. Furthermore, we carried out the pre-test and the post-test to examine the effects of using graphic calculator in the learning of function of the underachieved students.

  • Recent years have seen an increased demand for calculators as a learning and teaching tool. It is asserted calculators should be utilized as an instructional tool before computers considering their lower price, connivence of easy, and variety of function. Towards this end, it is essential that we persuade teachers and parents who worry that the use of calculators would result in a decrease in students' ability to calculate. Specifically, effort should be made to point out the advantage that calculators have. First of all, calculators could lessen the mental and time pressure attendant upon paper-and-pencil calculation. It have also been reported that calculators are effective in teaching the concept unalgorithmal content, learning of principle, and problem-solving skills, In light of these advantages, this study investigates the kinds of practice items that can be included in the textbooks to help students develop computing skills using calculators.

  • This paper aims to enhance students' interest in the use of calculators in mathematics education and promote their use of calculators in real-life situations. Towards these ends, problem types and instructional models developed for the efficient utilization of calculators. The instructional models focus on teaching mathematics relying on the path through which expert teachers have gone through to gain relevant knowledge. By developing problem types and instructional models suitable for calculator use, We can contribute to a better attainment of instructional goals in mathematics education. The instructional models and problem types will aid teachers in making decisions about instructional development plan and basic features of instructional activities. The use of a new medium will also lead to increased interest and confidence in learning, thus contributing to the enhancement of students' ego.

  • The purpose of this study is to explore a teaching method of limits of functions with more intuitive and visual of CAS graphing calculators rather than with the rigorous ${\epsilon}-{\delta}$ method. Texas Instruments Voyage200 CAS graphing calculators are used for studying the possibility of the use of technology in calculus course. For this, various related theoretical constructs are reviewed: concept image, concept definition, cognitive conflict, the use of visualization of technology for calculus concepts, the theory of APOS, and local straightness. Based on such theoretical constructs this study suggests a teaching method of limits of functions with embodied visualization of CAS graphing calculators.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the effects of calculator use, which is drawing more attention in elementary mathematics, on students' learning of mathematics and to suggest effective ways of using calculators. The present study examined appropriate items commonly used in other papers in the areas of number sense and concepts, problem solving, pattern exploration and reasoning ability. The process of item selection about calculator use were investigated through preservice elementary school teachers' responses to the Questionnaire. The use of calculators In elementary school should be based on teachers' under-standing about why calculators are useful tools for learning mathematics. For more effective use of calculators, more sophisticated experimental studies need to be conducted about selected questions.

  • In this paper, the researchers investigated the influence of graphing calculator in learning the concept of linear function for the gifted students. Elementary students who were taking a course in enrichment mathematics at Science Education Institute for the Gifted in Mokpo National University were selected for this study. The researchers analyzed students' processes of mathematical inference and conjecture, and students' algebraic description. We found the facts that the visualization using a graphing calculator and CBL is helpful to the gifted students in understanding concepts of liner function, finding the relationship between variables, analyzing and presupposing of graph. But, using graphing calculator can be a factor that disturbs learning of students who have too much of curiosity on graphing calculator.

  • Computer algebra system (CAS) calculators are becoming increasingly common in schools and universities. While Hey offer quite sophisticated mathematical capability to teachers and students, it is not clear at present how they may best be employed. In particular their integration into students' learning and problem-solving remains an issue. In this paper we address this issue through the lens of a study that considered the introduction of the TI-89 CAS calculator to students about to enter university. We describe a number of different aspects of the partnership they formed with the calculator as they began the process of instrumentation of the CAS in their learning.

  • Debates of calculators in mathematics lessons sometimes have happened in both countries that students rarely use calculators in math lessons including Republic of Korea and countries that students usually use calculators in math lessons. Korea has tried to activate usage of calculators in math lessons as the revision of national math curriculums and the development the strategies to support schools and math teachers. On the other hand, Singapore has the different educational strategies to use calculators in math lessons, but students have higher math achievements in TIMSS and interests in math lessons than Korea. This study intended to study the difference between Korea and Singapore on the usage of calculators in math lessons. To accomplish this, the study compared math curriculums of two countries on the usage of calculators and analysed TIMSS 2015 related with the survey items about calculators in math lessons. This study results in some suggestions that we should do in oder to use calculators in math lessons effectively.

  • The purpose of this study is to explore normal distribution in probability distributions of the area of statistics in high school mathematics. To do this these contents such as approximation of normal distribution from binomial distribution, investigation of normal distribution curve and the area under its curve through the method of Monte Carlo, linear transformations of normal distribution curve, and various types of normal distribution curves are explored with CAS calculator. It will not be ablt to be attained for the objectives suggested the area of probability distribution in a paper-and-pencil classroom environment from the perspectives of tools of CAS calculator such as trivialization, experimentation, visualization, and concentration. Thus, this study is to explore various properties of normal distribution curve with CAS calculator and derive from pedagogical implications of teaching and learning normal distribution curve.
