  • The purpose of this study is to explore the effect of perceived job insecurity on job crafting behaviors among employees from two different cultures: Jamaica and South Korea. Growth needs strength was also examined as a moderating variable on the job insecurity/job crafting relationship. This study collected 102 data samples from working individuals from Jamaica and 98 from South Korea. The Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) and the hierarchical regression analysis were used in order to analyze the data. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS 24.0. Our research results indicated that perceived job insecurity has a significant effect on employees job crafting behaviors. The relationship between perceived job insecurity and job crafting behaviors differs based on culture. In addition, employees growth need strength moderates the relationship between the two variables. Although this study has some limitations, it contributed to the stress-coping literature by showing that individuals will engage in coping behaviors when they perceived job insecurity in the organization. In addition, culture and individual drive or need for growth plays an important role in how individuals cope with perceived stress or uncertainty.

  • Due to paradigm shift in administration, the field of police administration, like its civilian counterpart, is spending effort to improve customer-oriented civil complaint service system, and this is leading to a negative factor in service providers, emotional labor, among police officers. This study examines amount of emotional labor of maritime police officers, and verify the effects of emotional labor on exhaustion. Results show maritime police officers experience about the same amount of emotional labor as other public workers, and emotional labor has effects on work exhaustion. In other words, perception of incongruity of emotion has positive effects on exhaustion on cynical attitude. Attention to emotional expression has negative effects on decrease of job effectiveness. As such, if the problem of emotional labor is neglected, it leads to exhaustion and can become a significant obstacle to performance due to negative organizational influence. Also, it can lead to serious physical and mental problems on the individual level. Therefore, policy implementation to prevent this problem is necessary.

  • Drawing on costly signaling theory and self-enhancement motive, this study examines the relationships among proactive personality, knowledge sharing behavior, and organizational recognition. In addition to the individual characteristic, this study considers job characteristics as conditional factors, and especially proposes the moderated mediation model in which job complexity and variety moderate the relationships among proactive personality, knowledge sharing behavior, and organizational recognition. To prove these hypotheses, empirical analyses are conducted with 166 dyad samples collected from various industries. As predicted, individuals with high proactive personality are more likely to become involved in knowledge sharing behavior, and this behavior increases organizational recognition rated by their supervisors. Moreover, job complexity and variety moderate the positive relationship between proactive personality and organizational recognition is mediated by knowledge sharing behavior. These results reveal the motive in knowledge sharing and the boundary condition that is necessary to increase such behavior. The study findings will ultimately contribute theoretical and empirical implications to the knowledge management literature.

  • The rapid growth of investments in mobile service to reach a large and growing body of customers, coupled with low communication costs, has made user acceptance an increasingly critical management issue. The study draws upon the task-technology fit (TTF) model as its theoretical basis and its empirical findings to pragmatically explain the key factors that affect the performance and user acceptance of mobile service in medical field. A total of 110 usable responses were obtained. The findings indicate that the task, technology, and individual user characteristics positively affect task-technology fit and mobile service usage. The task-technology fit and mobile service usage are the dominant factors that affect mobile service performance. The result points out the importance of the fit between technologies and users' tasks in achieving individual performance impact from mobile service in medical arena.
