  • Suppose that D is a $C^*$-discrete quantum group and $D_0$ a discrete quantum group associated with D. If there exists a continuous action of D on an operator algebra L(H) so that L(H) becomes a D-module algebra, and if the inner product on the Hilbert space H is D-invariant, there is a unique $C^*$-representation $\theta$ of D associated with the action. The fixed-point subspace under the action of D is a Von Neumann algebra, and furthermore, it is the commutant of $\theta$(D) in L(H).

  • Let $\{U(t,s)\}_{t{\geq}s}$ be a periodic evolutionary process with period ${\tau}$ > 0 on a Banach space X. Also, let L be the generator of the evolution semigroup associated with $\{U(t,s)\}_{t{\geq}s}$ on the phase space $P_{\tau}(X)$ of all ${\tau}$-periodic continuous X-valued functions. Some kind of variation-of-constants formula for the solution u of the equation $({\alpha}I-L)^nu=f$ will be given together with the conditions on $f{\in}P_{\tau}(X)$ for the existence of coefficients in the formula involving the monodromy operator $U(0,-{\tau})$. Also, examples of ODEs and PDEs are presented as its application.

  • Let T > 0 be given. Let $(C[0,T],m_{\varphi})$ be the analogue of Wiener measure space, associated with the Borel proba-bility measure ${\varphi}$ on ${\mathbb{R}}$, let $(L_{2}[0,T],\tilde{\omega})$ be the centered Gaussian measure space with the correlation operator $(-\frac{d^{2}}{dx^{2}})^{-1}$ and ${\el}_2,\;\tilde{m}$ be the abstract Wiener measure space. Let U be the space of all sequence $<c_{n}>$ in ${\el}_{2}$ such that the limit $lim_{{m}{\rightarrow}\infty}\;\frac{1}{m+1}\;\sum{^{m}}{_{n=0}}\;\sum_{k=0}^{n}\;c_{k}\;cos\;\frac{k{\pi}t}{T}$ converges uniformly on [0,T] and give a set function m such that for any Borel subset G of $\el_2$, $m(\mathcal{U}\cap\;P_{0}^{-1}\;o\;P_{0}(G))\;=\tilde{m}(P_{0}^{-1}\;o\;P_{0}(G))$. The goal of this note is to study the relationship among the measures $m_{\varphi},\;\tilde{\omega},\;\tilde{m}$ and $m$.

  • In this paper, we study the third order ordinary differential equation : $$x'(t)=f(t,x(t),x'(t),x'(t)),t{\in}(0,1)$$ subject to the boundary value conditions: $$x'(0)=x'(\xi),x'(1)=^{m-3}{\Sigma}_{i=1}{{\beta}x'({\eta}i),x'(1)=0}$$. Here ${\beta}_{i}{\in}R,\;^{m-3}{\Sigma}_{i=1}\;{\beta}_{i}\;=\;1,\;0<{\eta}_1<{\eta}_2<{\cdots}<{\eta}_{m-3}<1,\;0<\xi<1$. This is the case dimKer L = 2. When the ${\beta}_i$ have different signs, we prove some existence results for the m-point boundary value problem at resonance by use of the coincidence degree theory of Mawhin [12, 13]. Since all the existence results obtained in previous papers are for the case dimKerL = 1, our work is new.

  • We propose and analyze two-scale product approximation for semilinear heat equations in the mixed finite element method. In order to efficiently resolve nonlinear algebraic equations resulting from the mixed method for semilinear parabolic problems, we treat the nonlinear terms using some interpolation operator and exploit a two-scale grid algorithm. With this scheme, the nonlinear problem is reduced to a linear problem on a fine scale mesh without losing overall accuracy of the final system. We derive optimal order $L^{\infty}((0, T];L^2({\Omega}))$-error estimates for the relevant variables. Numerical results are presented to support the theory developed in this paper.

  • The nonlinear Klein Gordon equation $$ (1) \frac{\partial t^2}{\partial^2 u} - \Delta u + V_u(u) = f $$ where $\Delta$ is the Laplacian operator in $R^d (d = 1, 2, 3), V_u(u)$ is the derivative of the "potential function" V, and f is a source term independent of the solution u, in various areas of mathematical physics.l physics.

  • We compute explicitly the matrices represented by Toeplitz operators on the Hardy space over the unit circle with respect to a special orthonormal basis constructed by author in terms of their symbols. And we also find a necessary condition for the matrix generated by the product of two Toeplitz operators with respect to the basis to be a Toeplitz matrix by a direct calculation and we finally solve commuting problems of two Toeplitz operators in terms of symbols. This is a generalization of the classical results obtained regarding to the orthonormal basis consisting of the monomials.

  • In this paper we give an upper bound of the first eigenvalue of the Laplace operator on a complete stable minimal hypersurface M in the hyperbolic space which has finite $L^2$-norm of the second fundamental form on M. We provide some sufficient conditions for minimal hypersurface of the hyperbolic space to be stable. We also describe stability of catenoids and helicoids in the hyperbolic space. In particular, it is shown that there exists a family of stable higher-dimensional catenoids in the hyperbolic space.

  • The linear absolute shrinkage and selection operator(Lasso) method improves the low prediction accuracy and poor interpretation of the ordinary least squares(OLS) estimate through the use of $L_1$ regularization on the regression coefficients. However, the Lasso is not robust to outliers, because the Lasso method minimizes the sum of squared residual errors. Even though the least absolute deviation(LAD) estimator is an alternative to the OLS estimate, it is sensitive to leverage points. We propose a robust Lasso estimator that is not sensitive to outliers, heavy-tailed errors or leverage points.

  • Let X and Y be operators acting on a Hilbert space and let (equation omitted) be a subspace lattice of orthogonal projections on the space containing 0 and I. We investigate normal interpolation problems in Alg(equation omitted): Given operators X and Y acting on a Hilbert space, when does there exist a normal operator A in Alg(equation omitted) such that AX = Y?
