The pressure distribution between human body and seat surface has been considered as an important factor affecting seating comfort. However, it is rare to find general guidelines of how to analyze these pressure patterms related to the seating comfort. In order to investigate the relationship between the pressure patterns and the subjective feeling of seating comfort, a high-resolution body pressure measurement system was adopted. The measured patterns showed that the clear distinctions between the comfortable seats. It was also possible to estimate the seating comfort based upon the analysis of the pressure patterns. The further research will be focused on finding out the relationship between physical seat design parameters and the seating discomfort.

Today, rapid development and timeliness of introducing a new product be- comes a more influencing factor of determing its competitive power due to a shortened product cycle, while rapid improvement of manufacturing technology makes product design and manufacturing fuse together. This implies that prod- uct usability evaluation and improvement starts right from its design phase, resulting in less development time and cost. To make this possible, proper as- sessment of human reach is one of essential functions for ergonomic product us- ability evaluation, specifically in the platform of computer-aided ergonomic evaluation models or any CAD system with a built-in man model. In this study, an analytic reach prediction algorithm ensuring the posture that human naturally takes, is presented by employing the methods developed for robot kinematics. Among robot kinematic methods for solving the multi-link system, the resolved motion method was found to be effective to solve human reach as a redundant manipulator model. Also, the joint range availability was used as a performance fonction to guarantee human naturalness. The result is expected to be directly applicable to product usability evaluations.

The objective of this study is to collect and analyze the anthropometric data for Korean adults. These data are intended to be used for the product design in industry. Sixty three college students participated in the measurement. One hundred twenty four lengths, thirty circumferences, four strengths, weight, and age data were collected. Descriptions and statistical analysis of the anthropo- metric data are summarized. The results were compared with foreign data available. It was found that forty weven body dimensions were closely correlated each other. It was also found that three dimensions, stature, eye height, and hand length, can be assessed by adding other body dimensions.

The purpose of this study was to develop a basic slacks pattern drafting me- thod for pregnant women on the basic of their physicial characteristics. The results of the study were as follows: 1. The items which showed a remakable and significant increase were anterior waist height, waist depth, omphalion depth, abdominal depth, waist girth, omphalion girth, abdominal girth and body weight. The anterior part of waist and abdominal sections projected forward gradually, so remarkably as to become to look like a circle, at ten month. 2. Sensory evaluation for Appearance: According to the statistical analysis of the result of 25 items on the questionnaire, all the items showed significant difference$({\alpha}{\leq} 0.001)$ between the new and the MUNHWA method slacks pattern, with the new pattern having having higher scores. 3. Sensory evaluation for Comfort : The new drafting method proved to be better fitted and more comfortable.

In this paper, methods of human figure representation in computer graphics are described. Many applications of the human figure representation are found in areas including industry, advertisement, and cartoon production and further research for the methods that show the human figure more realistically is ex- pected. Two analytic methods for human model, kinematics and dynamics, are ex- plained and the characteristics of the man-machine interface systems that include human figure representation are presented. Various techniques of the human figure representation based on kinematics or(and) dynamics are discussed and representation methods of human body segments such as hand, face, spine are introduced in this paper.

Hypermedia systems allow the retrieval and representation of multimedia in- formation such as text, graphics, image and voice/sound using navigation and browsing mechanisms. In this study we developed a hypermedia system which provides hierarchical group, local map and cluster view for effective navigation in hyperspace. The system also supports hot link, reference link, move-to link and multiple link to browse the multimedia information space effectively. This system has been designed to integrate the navigation, browsing and searching function of the hypermedia system in hyman factor perspective and provides the user-friendly user interface mechanism.
