This study presents a fuzzy varying coefficient regression model after deleting the outliers to improve the feasibility and effectiveness of the fuzzy regression model. The objective of our methodology is to allow the fuzzy regression coefficients to vary with a covariate, and simultaneously avoid the impact of data contaminated by outliers. In this paper, fuzzy regression coefficients are represented by Gaussian fuzzy numbers. We also formulate suitable goodness of fit to evaluate the performance of the proposed methodology. An example is given to demonstrate the effectiveness of our methodology.
In this study, the Bragg resonant of cnoidal waves propagating over a sinusoidally varying topography lying on a uniformly sloping beach is investigated. The governing equations derived from the Boussinesq equations are numerically integrated. The effects of fast varying terms and nonlinearity in reflection coefficients are also examined. Variation of reflection coefficient for different sloping beaches is studied. It is found that reflection coefficients are not strongly dependent on slopes of beaches.

A structured model with both single-index and varying coefficients is a powerful tool in modeling high dimensional data. It has been widely used because the single-index can overcome the curse of dimensionality and varying coefficients can allow nonlinear interaction effects in the model. For high dimensional index vectors, variable selection becomes an important question in the model building process. In this paper, we propose an efficient estimation and a variable selection method based on a smoothing spline approach in a partially linear single-index-coefficient regression model. We also propose an efficient algorithm for simultaneously estimating the coefficient functions in a data-adaptive lower-dimensional approximation space and selecting significant variables in the index with the adaptive LASSO penalty. The empirical performance of the proposed method is illustrated with simulated and real data examples.

The present study describes the Bragg reflection of monochromatic water waves propagating over a train of doubly-sinusoidally varying topographies. A numerical model based on the boundary element method is firstly verified by calculating reflection and transmission coefficients of waves over a trench. Calculated solutions are compared with those of the eigenfunction expansion method. The model is then used to simulated reflection of monochromatic water waves propagating over doubly-sinusoidally varying bottom topographies. Obtained reflection coefficients are compared with those of available laboratory measurements, those of the eigenfunction expansion method and the extended mild-slope equation. A reasonable agreement is shown.

The reflection coefficients of monochromatic waves propagating over a shelf with varying dimensions are theoretically calculated. The diffraction of waves by an abrupt depth change is formulated by the eigenfunction expansion method. Not only propagating mode but also evanescent modes are considered in formulation. The role of evanescent modes in reflection coefficients is investigated in detail. Water waves are obliquely as well as normally incident to the region. The obtained reflection coefficients are verified by checking conservation of wave energy.
The bragg reflection of obliquely incident monochromatic water waves propagating over a sinusoidally varying topography is theoretically investigated in this study. The eigenfunction expansion method is first employed to calculate reflection coefficients of water waves due to depth changes. A reasonable agreement is observed. Obtained reflection coefficients of normally incident waves are compared with laboratory measurements. Reflection coefficients of obliquely incident waves are then calculated. The wavenumber providing the Bragg reflection agrees well with analytical predictions.
The necessity of the filter coefficients compensation for the LTJ adaptive filter was explained generally and easily by analyzing it with respect to the time-varying transform domain adaptive filter. And also the reduction method of computational complexity for filter coefficients compensation was proposed and its effectiveness was verified through experiments using artificial and real speech signals. The proposed adaptive filter reduces the computational complexity for filter coefficients compensation by 95%, and when the filter is applied to the acoustic echo canceller with 1000 taps, the total complexity is reduced by 82%

Adaptive controllers for linear system whose nominal values of coefficients only are known, that is corrupted by disturbance, are designed by signal synthesis model reference adaptive control (MRAC). This design is stemmed from the Lyapunov direct method. To reduce the model following error and to improve the conrergence rate of the design, an indirect suboptimal control law is de rived using the Hamilton Jacobi Beellman equation. Proper compensaton for the effects of time varying coefficients and plant disturbance are suggested. In the design procedure no complete identification of unknown coefficients are required.
This study focuses on enhancing the accuracy of consumption function of Korean natural gas for city gas. It is using time-series model with time-varying coefficients taking into account the recent abnormal temperature phenomenon and the changing gross domestic product (GDP) as important variables. This study estimates the cointegrating regression model for the long-run estimation and the error correction model for the short-run estimation. The consumption function of Korean natural gas is estimated to be influenced by the time-varying coefficients of GDP and temperature. Using the estimated time-series model with time-varying coefficients, this study forecasts the consumption of natural gas for city gas from July 2011 to December 2012. The consumption in 2011 would be 18,303 thousand tons, which is little different from the imported 18,681 thousand tons. The consumption of natural gas for city gas in 2012 is forecast to be 19,213 thousand tons. The consumption model of this study is needed to extend by considering the relative prices between natural gas and its substitutes, the scale of consumers and others.
In this paper, an efficient short-time Fourier analysis method for the quasi-periodic signals is proposed via an optimal fixed-lag finite impulse response (FIR) smoother approach using a receding horizon scheme. In order to deal with time-varying Fourier coefficients (FCs) of quasi-periodic signals, a state space model including FCs as state variables is augmented with the variants of FCs. Through an optimal fixed-lag FIR smoother, FCs and their increments are estimated simultaneously and combined to produce final estimates. A lag size of the optimal fixed-lag FIR smoother is chosen to minimize the estimation error. Since the proposed estimation scheme carries out the correction process with the estimated variants of FCs, it is highly probable that the smaller estimation error is achieved compared with existing approaches not making use of such a process. It is shown through numerical simulation that the proposed scheme has better tracking ability for estimating time-varying FCs compared with existing ones.
