  • A deranged Cantor set (without the uniform bounded-ness condition away from zero of contraction ratios) whose weak local dimensions for all points coincide has its Hausdorff dimension of the same value of weak local dimension. We will show it using an energy theory instead of Frostman's density lemma which was used for the case of the deranged Cantor set with the uniform boundedness condition of contraction ratios. In the end, we will give an example of such a deranged Cantor set.

  • Let M be a right R-module, (S, ${\leq}$) a strictly totally ordered monoid which is also artinian and ${\omega}:S{\rightarrow}Aut(R)$ a monoid homomorphism, and let $[M^{S,{\leq}}]_{[[R^{S,{\leq}},{\omega}]]$ denote the generalized inverse polynomial module over the skew generalized power series ring [[$R^{S,{\leq}},{\omega}$]]. In this paper, we prove that $[M^{S,{\leq}}]_{[[R^{S,{\leq}},{\omega}]]$ has the same uniform dimension as its coefficient module $M_R$, and that if, in addition, R is a right perfect ring and S is a chain monoid, then $[M^{S,{\leq}}]_{[[R^{S,{\leq}},{\omega}]]$ has the same couniform dimension as its coefficient module $M_R$.

  • Packing dimension of a set is an upper bound for the packing dimensions of measures on the set. Recently the packing dimension of statistically self-similar Cantor set, which has uniform distributions for contraction ratios, was shown to be its Hausdorff dimension. We study the method to find an upper bound of packing dimensions and the upper Renyi dimensions of measures on a statistically quasi-self-similar Cantor set (its packing dimension is still unknown) which has non-uniform distributions of contraction ratios. As results, in some statistically quasi-self-similar Cantor set we show that every probability measure on it has its subset of full measure whose packing dimension is also its Hausdorff dimension almost surely and it has its subset of full measure whose packing dimension is also its Hausdorff dimension almost surely for almost all probability measure on it.

  • The aim of the present paper is to introduce the concept "Finite dimension" in the theory of associative rings R with respect to two sided ideals. We obtain that if R has finite dimension on two sided ideals, then there exist uniform ideals $U_1,U_2,\ldots,U_n$ of R whose sum is direct and essential in R. The number n is independent of the choice of the uniform ideals $U_i$ and 'n' is called the dimension of R.

  • The basic goal of quantization for probability distribution is to reduce the number of values, which is typically uncountable, describing a probability distribution to some finite set and thus to make an approximation of a continuous probability distribution by a discrete distribution. It has broad application in signal processing and data compression. In this paper, first we define the uniform distributions on different curves such as a line segment, a circle, and the boundary of an equilateral triangle. Then, we give the exact formulas to determine the optimal sets of n-means and the nth quantization errors for different values of n with respect to the uniform distributions defined on the curves. In each case, we further calculate the quantization dimension and show that it is equal to the dimension of the object; and the quantization coefficient exists as a finite positive number. This supports the well-known result of Bucklew and Wise [2], which says that for a Borel probability measure P with non-vanishing absolutely continuous part the quantization coefficient exists as a finite positive number.

  • In this paper, when G is a connected and simply connected nilpotent Lie group of dimension less than or equal to four, we study the uniform lattices Γ of G up to isomorphism and then we study the structure of the automorphism group Aut(Γ) of Γ from the viewpoint of splitting as a natural extension.

  • In this paper we study modules with the W F I+-extending property. We prove that if M satisfies the W F I+-extending, pseudo duo properties and M/(Soc M) has finite uniform dimension then M decompose into a direct sum of a semisimple submodule and a submodule of finite uniform dimension. In particular, if M satisfies the W F I+-extending, pseudo duo properties and ascending chain (respectively, descending chain) condition on essential submodules then M = M1 ⊕ M2 for some semisimple submodule M1 and Noetherian (respectively, Artinian) submodule M2. Moreover, we show that if M is a W F I-extending module with pseudo duo, C2 and essential socle then the quotient ring of its endomorphism ring with Jacobson radical is a (von Neumann) regular ring. We provide several examples which illustrate our results.

  • In this paper we define and study a new kind of dimension called, semisimple dimension, that measures how far a module is from being semisimple. Like other kinds of dimensions, this is an ordinal valued invariant. We give some interesting and useful properties of rings or modules which have semisimple dimension. It is shown that a noetherian module with semisimple dimension is an artinian module. A domain with semisimple dimension is a division ring. Also, for a semiprime right non-singular ring R, if its maximal right quotient ring has semisimple dimension as a right R-module, then R is a semisimple artinian ring. We also characterize rings whose modules have semisimple dimension. In fact, it is shown that all right R-modules have semisimple dimension if and only if the free right R-module ${\oplus}^{\infty}_{i=1}$ R has semisimple dimension, if and only if R is a semisimple artinian ring.

  • We consider associative ring R (not necessarily commutative). In this paper the concepts: zero square ring of type-1/type-2, zero square ideal of type-1/type-2, zero square dimension of a ring R were introduced and obtained several important results. Finally, some relations between the zero square dimension of the direct sum of finite number of rings; and the sum of the zero square dimension of individual rings; were obtained. Necessary examples were provided.

  • In this study, two original spectral representations of stationary stochastic fields, say the continuous proper orthogonal decomposition (CPOD) and the frequency-wavenumber spectral representation (FWSR), are derived from the Fourier-Stieltjes integral at first. Meanwhile, the relations between the above two representations are discussed detailedly. However, the most widely used conventional Monte Carlo schemes associated with the two representations still leave two difficulties unsolved, say the high dimension of random variables and the incompleteness of probability with respect to the generated sample functions of the stochastic fields. In view of this, a dimension-reduction model involving merely one elementary random variable with the representative points set owing assigned probabilities is proposed, realizing the refined description of probability characteristics for the stochastic fields by generating just several hundred representative samples with assigned probabilities. In addition, for the purpose of overcoming the defects of simulation efficiency and accuracy in the FWSR, an improved scheme of non-uniform wavenumber intervals is suggested. Finally, the Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) algorithm is adopted to further enhance the simulation efficiency of the horizontal stochastic wind velocity fields. Numerical examplesfully reveal the validity and superiorityof the proposed methods.
