SPECTRAL INEQUALITIES OF THE LAPLACIAN ON A CURVED TUBE WITH VARYING CROSS SECTION

  • In this note, we consider a curved tube with varying cross-section formed by rotating open bounded Euclidean domains with respect to a reference curve, and successfully give a lower bound to the threshold of the Laplacian on the tube, subject to Dirichlet boundary conditions on the surface and Neumann conditions at the ends of the tube. This generalizes the corresponding result in [1].

  • Purpose: This study was aimed to modify and adapt the previously developed, high-quality enteral tube feeding guidelines for the usage in clinical settings in Korea. Methods: Guideline adaptation process was undertaken according to the guideline adaptation manual version 2.0 developed by NECA (Kim, et al., 2011) and the standardized methodology for nursing practice guideline adaptation (Gu, et al. 2012). Results: The modified and adapted enteral tube feeding guidelines were consisted of 11 domains and 95 recommendations. The domains and numbers of recommendations in each domain were: 4 on general issues, 2 on enteral nutrition indication and discontinue, 6 on enteral nutrition device selection, 12 on enteral tube feeding device insertions, 3 on enteral nutrition formular and choices, 16 on enteral tube feeding start and progress, 20 on enteral tube feeding maintenance and management, 15 on monitoring enteral tube feeding administration, 10 on prevention of error, 5 on medication administration, and 2 on documentation and report. There were 16.1% of the recommendations marked as A grade, 17.8% of B grade, and 66.1% of C grade. Conclusion: The adapted enteral tube feeding nursing practice guideline is to be added to the evidence-based practice guidelines for fundamentals of nursing practice. The guideline is hoped to be disseminated to nurses nationwide in order to improve the efficiency of enteral tube feeding practice.

  • In this paper, we investigate the notion of q-pseudoconvexity to discuss and describe some geometric characterizations of q-pseudoconvex domains ${\Omega}{\subset}{\mathbb{C}}^n$. In particular, we establish that ${\Omega}$ is q-pseudoconvex, if and only if, for every boundary point, the Levi form of the boundary is semipositive on the intersection of the holomorphic tangent space to the boundary with any (n-q+1)-dimensional subspace $E{\subset}{\mathbb{C}}^n$. Furthermore, we prove that the Kiselman's minimum principal holds true for all q-pseudoconvex domains in ${\mathbb{C}}^p{\times}{\mathbb{C}}^n$ such that each slice is a convex tube in ${\mathbb{C}}^n$.

  • This paper aims to assess the applicability of the Runge Kutta Discontinuous Galerkin-Direct Ghost Fluid Method to the internal explosion inside a water-filled tube, which previously was studied by many researchers in separate works. Once the explosive charge located at the inner center of the water-filled tube explodes, the tube wall is subjected to an extremely high intensity fluid loading and deformed. The deformation causes a modification of the field of fluid flow in the region near the water-structure interface so that has substantial influence on the response of the structure. To connect the structure and the fluid, valid data exchanges along the interface are essential. Classical fluid structure interaction simulations usually employ a matched meshing scheme which discretizes the fluid and structure domains using a single mesh density. The computational cost of fluid structure interaction simulations is usually governed by the structure because the size of time step may be determined by the density of structure mesh. The finer mesh density, the better solution, but more expensive computational cost. To reduce such computational cost, a non-matched meshing scheme which allows for different mesh densities is employed. The coupled numerical approach of this paper has fewer difficulties in the implementation and computation, compared to gas dynamics based approach which requires complicated analytical manipulations. It can also be applied to wider compressible, inviscid fluid flow analyses often found in underwater explosion events.

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to develop a Korean version of evidence-based enteral tube feeding (ETF) guidelines through adaptation of existing ETF guidelines. Methods: The guideline adaptation process was conducted into 24 steps according to a manual for guideline adaptation version 2.0 developed by NECA. Results: The adapted ETF nursing practice guideline was consisted of 9 domains and 20 recommendations, including confirmation of tube placement, risk of aspiration, assessment gastric residual volume, body positioning, treating feeding tube occlusion, administration rate, medication, tube flushes, and interruption of feeding. The results of the grading of recommendations assessment by expert penal showed that 8 recommendations in Grade A, 4 in grade B, and 8 in Grade C were emerged from the process. The range of content validity index scores by expert penal was 0.8-1.0. Conclusion: It is expected that the adapted ETF nursing practice guideline could be helpful for nurses to practice evidence-based ETF for their patients.

Molecular Characterization of Brassica Pollen Allergen

  • Allergy to Brassica pollen has been reported in some countries. We have cloned a cDNA encoding a Brassica pollen allergen, Bra r 1. Bra r 1 belongs to a new family of $Ca^{2+}$-binding proteins, characterized by the presence of two EF-hand calcium-binding domains. Bra r 1 was detected in the tapetum, microspores, pollen coat and pollen tubes, indicating Bra r 1 is involved in pollen pistil interaction and pollen tube growth. We have engineered the hypoallergenic mutants of Bra r 1 for immunotherapy. Here we describe the review of molecular characterization of Bra r 1.

Identification of a PAS Domain-containing Protein in a Mammalian Hibernator, Murina leucogaster

  • Mammalian hibernation is a type of natural adaptation that allows organisms to avoid harsh environment and to increase the possibility of survival. To investigate the molecular link between circadian and hibernating rhythms in the greater tube-nosed bats, Murina leucogaster, we set out to identify circadian genes that are expressed in bats, with specific focus on the PAS domain by using PCR-based screens. We could isolate a eDNA clone, designated as LPAS1, that encodes a protein of 521 amino acid residues. LPAS1 is closely related with CLOCK family with the highest homology to human CLOCK. Based on RT-PCR analyses, LPAS1 transcripts are ubiquitously present in tissues from both summer active and winter dormant periods. Given that LPAS1 is a member of the bHLH-PAS protein superfamily but lacks polyglutamine transactivation domains, it is likely to function as a repressor for endogenous CLOCK to hinder its roles in promoting transcription. Our result will open a new avenue to further examine the functional interconnection between the circadian clock and the circannual clock such as mammalian hibernation.

K-means 클러스터링과 트랜스포머 기반의 교차 도메인 추천 (Cross-Domain Recommendation based on K-Means Clustering and Transformer)

  • 교차 도메인 추천은 다른 도메인에 있는 관련 사용자 정보 데이터와 아이템 데이터를 공유하는 방법입니다. 주로 사용자 중복이 많은 온라인 쇼핑몰이나 유튜브, 넷플릭스와 같은 멀티미디어 서비스 컨텐츠에서 사용됩니다. K-means 클러스터링을 통해 사용자 데이터와 평점을 기반으로 군집화를 실시하여 임베딩을 생성합니다. 이 결과를 트랜스포머 네트워크를 통해 학습한 후 사용자 만족도를 예측합니다. 그런 다음 트랜스포머 기반 추천 모델을 사용하여 사용자에게 적합한 아이템을 추천합니다. 이 연구를 통해 추천함으로써 더 적은 시간적 비용으로 초기 사용자 문제를 예측하고 사용자들의 만족도를 높일 수 있다는 결과를 실험을 통해 보여주었습니다.

일반영향요인과 댓글기반 콘텐츠 네트워크 분석을 통합한 유튜브(Youtube)상의 콘텐츠 확산 영향요인 연구 (A Study on the Impact Factors of Contents Diffusion in Youtube using Integrated Content Network Analysis)

  • 대표적 소셜미디어인 유튜브는 기존 폐쇄형 콘텐츠 서비스와는 다르게 개방형 콘텐츠 서비스로 이용자들의 참여와 공유를 통하여 많은 인기를 유지하고 있다. 콘텐츠 산업에서 중요한 위치를 차지하고 있는 유투브 상의 콘텐츠 확산 요인에 관한 기존의 연구들은 댓글 수 등과 같은 일반적 정보 특성 요인과 조회 수 간에 상관관계 등을 분석하는 것이 대부분이었다. 최근 네트워크 구조를 기반으로 한 연구들도 진행되었으나 대부분 콘텐츠를 이용하는 대상인 구독자나 지인 등을 중심으로 한 인적 관계 네트워크 구조 연구가 대부분이었다. 이에 본 연구에서는 실질적인 콘텐츠를 중심으로 한 네트워크 구조와 일반요인을 통합한 모델을 제시하고 확산요인을 분석하고자 한다. 이를 위해 통합 모델 인과관계 분석과 함께 21,307개의 유튜브 콘텐츠를 콘텐츠 기반 네트워크 구조로 분석하였다. 본 연구를 통해 기존에 알려진 일반적 요인과 네트워크 요인들이 모두 조회수에 영향을 주는 인과관계를 통계적으로 재검증하였으며 통합적으로는 등록자의 구독자 수, 경과시간, 매개 중심성, 댓글 수, 근접 중심성, 클러스터링 계수, 평균 평점 순으로 조회 수에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 분석되었다. 하지만 네트워크 요인중 연결정도 중심성과 고유벡터 중심성은 부정적 영향을 주는 것으로 분석되었다. 본 연구를 통하여 유튜브 콘텐츠 확산에 대한 일반영향요인과 구조적인 현상을 함께 규명하였다. 본 연구는 기업들이 유튜브와 같은 콘텐츠 서비스를 통한 온라인 마케팅 활동 시 콘텐츠들의 구조적인 면을 고려할 수 있는 근거를 제공하였으며 음반산업의 수요예측이나 콘텐츠 제작 업체들의 원활한 서비스 제공을 위한 설명력있는 영향요인 및 모델이 될 수 있을 것이다.
