  • A model of plastic deformation of the shape memory alloys which describes dislocation slip at the microlevel is developed. A condition similar to the Schmid law was adopted for the determination of dislocation slip onset. A description of the interaction of plastic deformation and martensitic transformations by taking into account the densities of deformation defects is proposed. It is shown that the model can correctly describe the effect of plastic strain on the shape memory effect. The proposed model is also capable of describing the two-way shape memory effect.

  • We consider the numerical treatment of blow-up problems having non-monotonic singular solutions that tend to infinity at some point in the domain. The use of standard numerical methods for solving problems with blow-up solutions can lead to significant errors. The reason being that solutions of such problems have singularities whose positions are unknown in advance. To be able to integrate such non-monotonic blow-up problems, we describe and use a method of non-local transformations. To show the efficiency of the method, we present a comparison of exact and numerical solutions in addition to some comparison with the work of other authors.

  • A projective Schur algebra associated with a partition of finite group G can be constructed explicitly by defining linear transformations of G. We will consider various linear transformations and count the number of equivalent classes in a finite group. Then we construct projective Schur algebra dimension is determined by the number of classes.

  • A group of twenty-nine high school student-teachers were given a set of mathematical propositions focusing on shape-to-shape transformations. Their task was to determine through hands-on manipulation and use of dynamic software that each shape be transformed into an area equivalent rectangular region. This paper reports on a classroom-based research.

  • In this work, we characterize some matrix classes concerning the Binomial sequence spaces br,s and br,sp, where 1 ≤ p < ∞. Moreover, by using the notion of Hausdorff measure of noncompactness, we characterize the class of compact matrix operators from br,s0, br,sc and br,s into c0, c and ℓ, respectively.

  • Let [$n$] = {1, 2, ${\ldots}$, $n$} be ordered in the standard way. The order-preserving full transformation semigroup ${\mathcal{O}}_n$ is the set of all order-preserving singular full transformations on [$n$] under composition. For this semigroup we describe maximal subsemibands, maximal regular subsemibands, locally maximal regular subsemibands, and completely obtain their classification.

  • In this paper, we study affine transformations of normal bases and give an explicit formulation of the multiplication table of an affine transformation of a normal basis. We then discuss constructions of self-dual normal bases using affine transformations of traces of a type I optimal normal basis and of a Gauss period normal basis.

  • We give the characterizations of the classes of matrix trans-formations ($m(\phi),{\ell}_p$), ($n(\phi),{\ell}_p$) ([5, Theorem 2]), (${\ell}_p,m(\phi)$) ([5, Theorem 1]) and (${\ell}_p,n(\phi)$) for $1{\leq}p{\leq}{\infty}$, establish estimates for the norms of the bounded linear operators defined by those matrix transformations and characterize the corresponding subclasses of compact matrix operators.

  • The term rank of a matrix A is the least number of lines (rows or columns) needed to include all the nonzero entries in A. In this paper, we obtain a characterization of linear transformations that preserve term ranks of matrices over antinegative semirings. That is, we show that a linear transformation T from a matrix space into another matrix space over antinegative semirings preserves term rank if and only if T preserves any two term ranks $k$ and $l$.
