The purpose of this study is to understand teaching and learning mathematics in elementary school classroom by considering mathematics as a kind of social practices and mathematics classroom as a kind of community of practice. The research questions of this study are as followings: 1) Which kinds of lesson organization reveal? 2) Which kinds of social participation structure reveal? 3) Which processes of making meaning reveal? This study was based on ethnomethodology. It was executed participation observations, interviews and surveys with teacher and 5 graders to collect the data related to the social practices formed their classroom. The social practices of mathematics classroom was analyzed from three aspects such as lesson organization, social participation structure and making meaning. The results from which we analyzed the social practices of the mathematics classroom are as followings. From the aspect of lessons organization, the teacher had a lot of power and authorities in the classroom and used them to elicitate students' responses. From the aspect of social participation structure, five SPSs(social participation structures) which revealed in Jo(1997)'s economics classrooms, were shown in this mathematics classroom, but there were a difference to the situations or frequencies which the SPSs appeared. From the aspect of making meaning, it was common that meanings are formed by the explanation of the teacher, but the teacher didn't deliver the mathematical meanings directly. She tried to interact with students to arrive shared meanings.

The objective of this research is significant because it derives the core competency factors that members of education communities must have in order to form warm education communities through investigating the perception of special education teachers. To achieve this, 352 special education teachers and teachers working at special education institutes were asked to record three of the most important factors out of a total of 18 factors that members of an educational community considered to be required in order to form warm educational communities. IBM SPSS Statistics 23 was used to analyze the collected data. First, in oder to examine the demographic characteristics of the educators surveyed, frequency analysis was conducted. Second, frequency analysis on the factors that special education teachers considered to be most important to form a warm education communities was conducted by teacher experience and type of education institute they worked for. When analyzing the research results of main factors that special education teachers considered to be important by teacher experience and type of education institute they worked for, responsibility was confirmed to be the most important factor. The second most important factor was communication and the third most important factor was responsibility and trust. In summary, the research confirmed that if mutual trust between the members of an education community can be established and if problems can be solved through cooperation and through open communication, and if each member of the community serves their role responsibly, a warm education community can be formed.

The purpose of this study was to find out the general problems of school food service and to explore a way to improve it, by examining elementary school teacher's consciousness and attitude toward it that gave a big impact on children's development of food habit. For attaining the purpose, the following research questions were posed : 1) What's elementary school teacher attitude toward school food service management? 2) What's elementary school teacher attitude toward school food service effect on children? 3) What's elementary school teacher opinion about how to develop school food service? The subjects of study were 328 male or female teachers who served at elementary school in urban and rural area, including eup, myon, or farming and fishing villages, Kyonggi province. A questionnaire survey was conducted over them. The conclusions were as follows: 1) Teacher Attitude Toward School Food Service Management Concerning food service place, the subjects were more satisfied at food service room(73.3%) than at classroom(23.0%). They responded that food service room was more effective, than classroom, for food transportation, distribution and post-arrangement. Their satisfaction at food service place was significantly different. The older teachers considered personnel management and cooking room's sanitary management to be more efficient, and their age made a significant difference to their consciousness of these things. Many teachers(63.1%) thought the measures to prevent and manage group food poisoning were relatively efficient. The male teachers expressed more affirmative view on the efficiency of school food expense management and menu preparation than female teachers, and there was a significant disparity between male and female teachers. 2) Elementary School Food Service Effect School food service was thought to be very effective for physical growth(74.1%) and physical strength improvement(70.1%). Teachers at smaller school revealed more affirmative response toward school food service effect on correcting an unbalanced diet, and older teachers considered its effect on nutrition knowledge acquisition and learning outcome to be more great. Teachers at larger school put less value on its effect on table manners, and school size produced a significant difference. The number of teachers who thought school food service generally raised parent concern and support for school(36.6%) was a little more than that of teachers who didn't think so(15.2%). And the number of teachers who didn't consider its effect on improving parent food life to be good(29.3%) was slightly more than that of teachers who did. 3) School Food Service Reform Measure What's most urgently needed for better school food service management appeared to be an expansion of facilities concerned, followed by more effective food distribution and transport, cooking room's better sanitary management, more successful food poisoning prevention and management, more effective food expense management, and an increase of food service personnel in the order named. The most effective means of school food service education was found to be a creation of link system to family, followed by a development of school food service education program, a development of teaching materials, an insertion of school food service in curriculum, and teacher education in the order named.
In this study, we examined classroom interaction to explore the relationships among teacher questions, turn-taking patterns, and student talks in mathematics classrooms. We analyzed lessons given by three elementary teachers (two first-grade teachers and one second-grade teacher) who worked in the same school using a conversation-analytic approach. We observed individual classrooms three times in a year. The results revealed that when teachers provided open-ended questions, such as "why and how" questions and "agree and disagree" questions, and used a non-IRE pattern (teacher initiation-student response-teacher feedback; Mehan, 1979), students more actively engaged in classroom discourse by justifying their ideas and refuting others' thinking. Conversely, when teachers provided closed-ended questions, such as "what" questions, and used an IRE pattern, students tended to give short answers focusing on only one point. The findings suggested teachers should use open-ended questions and non-IRE turn-taking patterns to create an effective math-talk learning community. In addition, school administrators and mathematics educators should support teachers to acquire practical knowledge regarding this approach.

This dissertation aims to analyze various safety accidents taking place during physical education class according to physical education teacher's value orientation, to identify teacher's value orientation that can minimize safety accidents, and to provide basic materials for safe and smooth class management. For this purpose, data have been collected from 261 physical education teachers at some middle and high schools in G City in Kyung-Ki Province and Busan Metropolitan City. The materials were treated as follows: The variables on demographic characteristics of physical education teachers are determined by t-test ; The analysis of one-way ANOVA and relationship between value orientation and safety accident prevention activities was conducted through Pearson's linear correlation analysis and multiple regression; The analysis of the relationship between value orientation and actual conditions of safety accidents was conducted through logistic regression. First, there is almost no awareness difference of physical education teachers' value orientation according to demographical variables. The value orientation physical education teachers consider to be the most important is, however, mainly 'mastery of disciplinary lesson.' There is a statistically significant difference in safety accident prevention activities according to demographical variables. Teachers' focuses in class contents showed a significant difference according to teaching experience and working area, while the dependency on facility has a significant difference according to teaching experience and school type. Second, there is no correlation between physical education teacher's value orientation and safety accident prevention activities because there is virtually no statistically significant difference between them. It means that safety accident prevention activities are not related with on which teachers place emphasis among mastery of disciplinary lesson, social reconstruction, self-realization, ecological integration and value orientation on learning process. Third, the analysis of safety accident prevention activities according to physical education teachers' value orientation revealed that the lower value orientation in social reconstruction is, the more safety accidents teachers experience. It is also found that crashes among students, ball games and leg injuries are inter-related with social reconstruction in value orientation, over-motivation and unskilled motor function ; athletic sports with value orientation on learning process and safety prevention training ; unskilled motor functions with value orientation in ecological integration and disobedience to teacher's directions ; winter accidents with mastery of disciplinary lesson in value orientation. In conclusion, the research indicates that physical education teacher's value orientation according to demographical variables didn't show any significant difference, while one according to safety accident prevention activities showed significant difference. Besides, physical education teachers' value orientation is not related to safety accident prevention activities, but the relationship between value orientation and actual conditions of safety accidents showed correlations according to each variable. Especially, teachers with lower value orientation in social reconstruction experienced more safety accidents. Therefore, physical education teachers can manage physical education class more safely with more emphasis on value orientation in social reconstruction.

Chosun regime, when it replaced the predecessor of Koryo, had to create political ideological system for new integration of the people. The new system, based on Confucianism, replaced religious values of Buddhism with educational ones. In this educational-ideological system, educational objects were mostly limited in character education's. Its goal was 'restoration of good nature'. For the principal agent of educational process, teacher had the initiative. These traits of educational system can be understood as an 'nature-unfolding perspective' or 'formal discipline perspective'. Moreover, the idea of 'teacher shall be served like prince' seems to be ground of political authoritarianism. In this respects, political traits of traditional education system can be restraining elements for developing independent individuality and free citizenship among Korean people. However, traditional teacher was not only authoritarian trainer. As 'a follower of truth and good', he was equal to his disciples. Teacher learned by teaching them. Students could be colleagues of their teacher. And the main traits of traditional education, focusing character development and community consciousness, are still important, in particular, to modern Korean educational and societal environment wanting in humane and participating citizenship.

The purpose of this study is to survey the learner’s need achievement, interest and practical level of the learning objectives according to the teacher’s teaching method in home economics of middle school(Dietary Life Unit), to examine the differences according to the local situation, and to get some information to improve the teaching method. This study surveyed the eight units of dietary life with 459 students in the rural community (224 students) and Seoul(235 Students). The collected data were analyzed by T-test, F-test. To sum up this study are as follows: 1. When the need, achievement, interest and practical level of unit “food”are compared the students of seoul with those of rural community, the student of Seoul show high in “The use of Processed Foodstuffs” and low in “Cooking the Processed Foodstuffs.”The student of rural community show in “A kind of Cooking Method”and low in “Environment and Food Life”. 2. The need, achievement, interest, practical level of the whole unit in rural community is higher than those is Seoul. 3. According to teaching method, comparison Seoul with rural community is revealed as follows. Seoul region is revealed significance to discovery learning in “Cooking Foodstuffs(The achievement and interest level) and ”Environment and Food Life”(interest level). Rural community is revealed significance to discussion learning in “The constituent and Food Life”(The need level, interest level). Rural community is revealed significance to explanation learning in “Environment and Food Life”(The achievement level).
This study was evaluate the effects of community based nutrition education program offered to 3rd grade elementary school students. Students enrolled in intervention programs 4 times per class by nutrition teacher & public health center. The subjects were asked to 606 students fill out a questionnaire before and then after completion of community based nutrition education program. After completion of the community based nutrition education program, nutrition knowledge score increased from $5.07{\pm}1.65$ to $6.24{\pm}1.53$ (p<0.001), dietary attitude score increased from $16.79{\pm}2.70$ to $19.52{\pm}2.71$ (p<0.001), dietary behavior score increased from $4.79{\pm}1.23$ to $5.31{\pm}1.14$ (p<0.001). The changes in nutrition knowledge scores were positively correlated with dietary attitude and dietary behavior. Above results showed that community based nutrition education program was effective for the improvement of dietary habits of 3rd grade elementary school students. Therefore this study is suggested effective Community-Based Participatory Research public health program and this program can be used at school and at public health centers.

The purpose of this study is to find identity of the elementary environmental education and inquire elements of professionalism in environmental education that elementary teachers should have. This study performed a half-structured interview in twice to the eight of elementary teachers who completed the environmental education curriculum course in a graduate school or participated in the teacher training program before. As a result, this study found that the identity of the elementary environmental education consists of the unification comprehending various subjects, the well-rounded sensitivity balancing intellectual, emotional and behavioral aspects, and the grounding in forming environmentally friendly living-habit and academic basis of environments. Moreover, this study found that the teacher training program for the specialty of the elementary environmental teachers should comprise of the following twelve components: the knowledge of overall environmental curriculum, environmental life guidance and environmental classroom management, environmental teaching skills and function, the passion and commitment about environmental education, environmental sensitivity, understanding of education studies, the values and attitude about environment, environmental behavior, understanding the relationship between environmental psychology and developing stage of child, the general education and communication/cooperation with colleagues or local community, understanding of the role as an teacher for the elementary environmental education. More importantly, it would be very crucial that the teachers themselves who are the main body of education system should recognize the their role as the professionals in order to improve the quality of education.
