비합리적 신념이 교사 소진에 미치는 영향 (Influence of Irrational Beliefs on Teacher Burnout)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of irrational beliefs on teacher burnout. Four-hundred twenty-two school teachers participated in this study. Maslach Burnout Inventory and Irrational Belief Test were used to collect data. Collected data were analyzed using stepwise multiple regression. Irrational beliefs significantly predicted teacher burnout. High self-expectation, helplessness, problem avoidance, anxious over-concern and frustration reactivity were significant predictors of teacher burnout. Influence of irrational beliefs on teacher burnout differed according to stages of teacher development and school grade of teacher. The implications of this study on education and counseling for teacher were discussed. Finally future research questions were recommended with the limitations of this study.

교사 소진에 대한 보호요인으로서의 교사효능감과 집단적 자기존중감의 영향 비교 (A Comparative Analysis between The Influence of Teacher Efficacy and Collectivistic Self-Esteem as Protective Factor on Teacher Burnout)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of teacher efficacy and collectivistic self-esteem on alleviation of teacher burnout. In order to achieve these research purpose, data were collected from 161 elementary and secondary school teachers using teacher efficacy scale, collectivistic self-esteem scale and psychological burnout scale. Collected data were analyzed using correlation analysis and hierarchical multiple regression. The major results of statistical analyses were as follows: First, generally background variables were significantly associated with burnout and therefore, background variables were controlled in the analysis of teacher efficacy and collectivistic self-esteem. Second, teacher efficacy influenced on the total burnout(38%) and sub-factors which were emotional exhaustion(27.3%), depersonalization(20.7%) and diminished personal accomplishment(36.1%), and collectivistic self-esteem influenced on the total burnout(38.8%) and sub-factors which were emotional exhaustion(27.1%), depersonalization(29.6%) and diminished personal accomplishment(25.1%). Third, the analysis of additional influence of collectivistic self-esteem in addition to the influence of teacher efficacy on teacher burnout revealed additional influence in the alleviation of total burnout(18.2%), emotional exhaustion(13.9%), depersonalization(16.6%) and diminished personal accomplishment(10.3%). These results showed that teacher's collectivistic self-esteem is an important factor in the alleviation of psychological burnout with teacher efficacy which was well known as a protective factor for psychological burnout. Based upon the above results, implications of these results and limitations of this study were discussed.

보육교사의 마음챙김이 교사민감성에 미치는 영향: 소진의 매개효과 (The Effects of Child Care Teachers' Mindfulness on Teacher Sensitivity: The Mediating Effect of Burnout)

  • Objective: The purpose of this study was to examine the relationships between child care teachers' mindfulness, burnout, and sensitivity. Also, the effects of child care teachers' mindfulness on teacher sensitivity, including the mediating effects of burnout, were investigated. Methods: A total of 263 child care teachers who work in Seoul, Gyeonggi and Incheon participated in this study. Data were analyzed by correlations and regressions using SPSS 21.0. Results: First, there were significant correlations between child care teachers' mindfulness, burnout and teacher sensitivity. Second, the relationship between mindfulness and teacher sensitivity was partially mediated by burnout. To be specific, mindfulness not only had a direct effect on teacher sensitivity, but also had an indirect effect on teacher sensitivity through burnout. Among the three dimensions of burnout, the decrease of personal accomplishments had the biggest significant mediation effect on the relationship between mindfulness and teacher sensitivity. Conclusion/Implications: In conclusion, this study highlights the importance of mindfulness in reducing burnout and enhancing teacher sensitivity toward children. Also, this research has implications for future research regarding the mindfulness of child care teachers and offers a foundation for the development of mindfulness training programs for child care teachers.

Mediating Effect of Kindergarten Teachers' Psychological Burnout in the Relationship Between Their Grit and Teacher-Child Interactions

  • The purpose of the study was to examine the mediating effect of kindergarten teachers' psychological burnout in the relationship between grit and teacher-child interactions. We conducted a cross-sectional study with 191 kindergarten teachers in South Korean. To measure the major variables, Grit scale [1], teacher-child interaction scale [2], and psychological burnout scale [3] were used. Hayes' PROCESS macro was used to test mediation effects of psychological burnout in the relationship between grit and teacher-child interactions. Indirect effects were tested using bootstrapped confidence intervals. As the results, kindergarten teachers' teacher-child interactions were found to have a significantly positive correlation with their grit but a significantly negative correlation with their psychological burnout. In addition, the relationship between grit and teacher-child interactions was mediated by psychological burnout.

정서조절양식과 교사효능감이 유아교사의 소진에 미치는 영향 (The influence of early childhood teachers' emotional regulation style and teacher efficacy to their burnout)

  • 본 연구는 정서조절양식과 교사효능감이 유아교사의 소진에 미치는 영향을 실증적으로 규명하여, 유아교사의 소진을 감소시키거나 예방할 수 있는 보호요인을 확인하는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 경상북도와 울산광역시 소재 유치원과 어린이집에 근무하는 유아교사 157명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 연구결과 유아교사의 정서조절양식과 교사효능감은 각각 소진에 영향력이 있었는데, 회피-분산적 양식을 많이 사용할수록 소진이 많았고, 개인적 교사효능감이 높을수록 소진이 적었다. 이 결과는 정서조절양식과 교사효능감이 유아교사의 소진을 의미 있게 설명하는 변인임을 시사하는 것으로, 유아교사가 효과적인 정서조절양식을 사용하도록 돕고 교사효능감을 증진시키는 방안을 모색하는 것이 필요하다고 본다.

  • The Purpose of this study was to review the theoretical background of burnout in child care teachers organization. Personal factors, Organizational factors, social factors and the factors affecting burnout I examined. The results of this study were as follows. First, Child care teachers need to be burnout to participate in Prevention programs. Second, child care teacher is required to ensure proper staffing, improved working environment through compliance with statutory working hours. Third, Various institutional arrangements required to control the variables affecting child care teachers. Fourth, Child care teacher's role to prevent excessive strategy is needed.

보육교사의 직무만족도와 소진과의 관계에 대한 자아탄력성의 중재효과 (Moderating Effects of the Childcare Teacher's Ego-resilience on Relationship between Their Job Satisfaction and Burnout)

  • This study was to investigate the moderating effects of the childcare teacher‘s egoresilience on the relationship between their job satisfaction and burnout. The participants were 336 childcare teachers from Chungnam-do and Daejeon Metropolitan City. The research instruments were the Job Satisfaction Scale modified from Bently and Remple 1970), the Ego-resilience Scale from Park(1996) with CPI and CAQ correction, and Maslach Burnout Inventory from Maslash and Jackson(1981). SPSS PC program(17.0) was used for productive correlation, stepwise multiple regression and reliability by Cronbach's as data analysis. The results were as follows. Firstly, the childcare teacher’s job satisfaction and ego-resilience level were above average (M=3.37, 3.58 each), while their burnout level was below average(M=2.57). Secondly, there was a negative correlation between their job satisfaction and burnout(r=-.51), while a positive correlation was between their job satisfaction and ego-resilience(r=.34). Thirdly, the burnout and ego-resilience against job satisfaction explained 28.1%. The optimistic attitude of the childcare teacher‘s ego- resilience was shown to moderate the effects on the relationship between their burnout and job satisfaction.

유치원 교사의 공감능력과 교사-학부모 관계 및 교사소진 간의 관계: 가정연계효능감의 조절효과 (Kindergarten Teachers' Empathy, Parent-teacher Relationships, and Teacher Burnout: The Moderating Role of Teacher Efficacy in Enlisting Parental Involvement)

  • 본 연구는 유치원 교사의 공감능력과 가정연계효능감이 교사-학부모 관계 인식과 교사소진에 미치는 효과가 어떠한지, 그리고 공감능력과 유치원 교사가 인식하는 교사-학부모 관계 및 교사소진의 관계에서 가정연계효능감의 조절효과가 유의한지를 확인하고자 하는 목적으로 수행되었다. 이를 위해 충북지역에 근무하는 공·사립 유치원 교사 208명을 대상으로 설문을 실시하였고, JAMOVI 1.6.23을 활용하여 응답자료를 분석하였다. 주요 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 유치원 교사의 공감능력과 가정연계효능감 모두 교사-학부모 관계 인식에 유의한 정적효과를 보였다. 둘째, 유치원 교사의 공감능력과 교사-학부모 관계 인식에서 가정연계효능감의 유의한 조절효과가 나타났다. 구체적으로 유치원 교사의 가정연계효능감이 높을 때(M+1SD) 공감능력이 높을수록 교사-학부모 관계 인식이 유의하게 높아졌으며, 가정연계효능감이 평균 수준이거나 낮을 때(M-1SD)는 공감능력이 교사-학부모 관계 인식에 미치는 효과가 유의하지 않았다. 셋째, 유치원 교사의 공감능력과 가정연계효능감 모두 교사소진에 유의한 부적효과를 나타냈으며, 공감능력과 교사소진의 관계에서 가정연계효능감의 조절효과는 유의하지 않았다. 본 연구는 유치원 교사가 인식한 교사-학부모 관계와 교사소진에 있어 공감능력과 가정연계효능감의 역할을 확인하고, 특히 공감능력이 교사-학부모 관계 인식에 미치는 효과가 가정연계효능감 수준에 따라 조절됨을 확인함으로써 가정연계효능감의 중요성을 인식하였다는 점에서 의의가 있다.

보육교사의 감정표현불능증, 소진, 성인애착이 유아훈육방식에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Alexithymia, Burnout-, and Adult Attachment on Child Disciplinary Style of Childcare Teachers)

  • Thise study is designed to demonstrate the influence of socio-demographic variables(age, education, career history and marital Status), alexithymia, burnout, and adult attachment on child disciplinary styles; childcare teachers in charge of young children were studied. The purpose of the study is to provide information about the desirable disciplinary styles of a childcare teacher in order to strengthen the quality of childcare education. The data collected in this study showed the following results: First, the age, education, career history and marital status of a teacher produced good results statistically irrelevant to the their child disciplinary style. Second, a high level of negative correlation was found among alexithymia, burnout, adult attachment and the child disciplinary style of a childcare teacher. In other words, if a teacher shows a high level of alexithymia, burnout, and adult attachment, it is likely that the teacher's child disciplinary style is coercive and neglect, and the teacher tends to give an illogical explanation. Third, in contrast to the other variables, burnout and adult attachment have a greater effect on child disciplinary style than alexithymia.

보육교사의 놀이성이 자아탄력성을 매개로 직무소진에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Childcare Teacher's Playfulness on Burnout Through Ego-resiliency)

  • Objective: This study explored the effect of childcare teacher's playfulness on burnout through ego-resiliency. Methods: The participants of this study were 265 childcare teachers working at childcare centers. Data was collected through questionnaire on teacher's palyfulness, ego-resiliency and burnout were analyzed with descriptive statistics and Pearson's correlation analysis using AMOS 10.0 and SPSS 21.0. The path included in the study model was verified by Structural Equation Modeling(SEM) and for the analysis of the mediating effect, Bootstrapping was used. Results: First, childcare teachers' playfulness had a negative influence on burnout. Second, childcare teachers' ego-resiliency had a negative influence on burnout. Third, childcare teachers' playfulness had a positive influence on ego-resiliency. Fourth, childcare teachers' playfulness had an indirect effect on burnout through ego-resiliency. The effect of childcare teachers' playfulness on their burnout was completely mediated by ego-resiliency. Conclusion/Implications: When developing a program to intervene in the burnout of childcare teachers, there needs to be more concern about ego-resiliency than playfulness.
