  • In this paper, we give a characterization of the structurally stable vector fields via the notion of orbital inverse shadowing. More precisely, it is proved that the $C^1$ interior of the set of $C^1$ vector fields with the orbital inverse shadowing property coincides with the set of structurally stable vector fields. This fact improves the main result obtained by K. Moriyasu et al. in [15].

  • We consider a negative unity feedback control system in which Che PIO, PI, PD or P controller and a transfer function having only poles are in cascade, We define the notion of the structural polynomial which means that there exists a subdomain of the coefficient space in which the polynomial is Hurwitz (left half plane stable) polynomial. We obtain the necessary and sufficient condition of the structure of the transfer function of which the characteristic polynomial is a structural polynomial, In addition, this paper present another necessary and sufficient condition for the existence of a constant gain controller with which the characteristic polynomial is structurally stable, For the structurally stabilizable P controller, it is allowed that the transfer function may not to all pole plants.

  • The magnetic properties of amorphous Fe were investigated by examining the electronic structures of structurally disordered Fe systems generated from crystalline bcc and fcc Fe using a Monte-Carlo simulation. As a rst principles band method, the real space spin-polarized tight-binding linearized-mun-tin-orbital recursion method was used in the local spin density approximation. Compared to the crystalline system, the electronic structures of the disordered systems were characterized by a broadened band width, smoothened local density of states, and reduced local magnetic moment. The magnetic structures depend on the short range configurations. The antiferromagnetic structure is the most stable for a bcc-based disordered system, whereas the noncollinear spin spiral structure is more stable for a fcc-based system.

  • We deal with a type of inverse pseudo-orbit tracing property with respect to the class of continuous methods, as suggested and studied by Pilyugin [54]. In this paper, we consider a continuous method induced through the diffeomorphism of a compact smooth manifold, and using the concept, we proved the following: (i) If a diffeomorphism f of a compact smooth manifold M has the robustly pointwise inverse pseudoorbit tracing property, f is structurally stable. (ii) For a C1 generic diffeomorphism f of a compact smooth manifold M, if f has the pointwise inverse pseudo-orbit tracing property, f is structurally stable. (iii) If a diffeomorphism f has the robustly pointwise inverse pseudo-orbit tracing property around a transitive set Λ, then Λ is hyperbolic for f. Finally, (iv) for C1 generically, if a diffeomorphism f has the pointwise inverse pseudo-orbit tracing property around a locally maximal transitive set Λ, then Λ is hyperbolic for f. In addition, we investigate cases of volume preserving diffeomorphisms.

  • In this paper, we show that a persistent dynamical system is structurally stable with respect to $E_{\alpha}$(X) for every ${\alpha}$ > 0 if it is expansive. Also, we prove that a homeomorphism$ f:{\Omega}(f){\rightarrow}{\Omega}(f)$ has the semi-shadowing property then so does $f:\overline{C(f)}{\rightarrow}\overline{C(f)}$.

  • Double walled carbon nanotubes (DWCNTs) are considered an ideal model for studying the coupling interactions between different concentric shells in multi-walled CNTs. Due to their intrinsic coaxial structures they are mechanically, thermally, and structurally more stable than single walled CNTs. Geometrically, owing to the buffer-like function of the outer tubes in DWCNTs, the inner tubes exhibit exciting transport and optical properties that lend them promise in the fabrication of field-effect transistors, stable field emitters, and lithium ion batteries. In addition, by utilizing the outer tube chemistry, DWCNTs can be useful for anchoring semiconducting quantum dots and also as effective multifunctional fillers in producing tough, conductive transparent polymer films. The inner tubes meanwhile preserve their excitonic transitions. This article reviews the synthesis of DWCNTs, their electronic structure, transport, and mechanical properties, and their potential uses.

  • As the pipe houses were constructed by imitation and routine without a structural design by now, they were often destructed by a strong wind or a heavy snowfall. The purpose of this study was to provide the basic data for the safety structural design of the pipe houses in Kyungpook region to prevent meteorological disaster. It was shown that the change of frame interval according to the safety factor under the wind load was similar that under the snow load. But the safety frame interval under the snow load was approximately 0.5-0.6m greater than that under the wind load for equal safety factor. Therefore, it seemed that the maximum safety frame interval was to be decided by the snow load. The frame of the pipe houses in Seungju region was structurally stable under the design snow load in recurrence intervals of 8-15years, but was unstable in Kolyong region.

  • To realize a visual servo control of slender manipulators, two problems to be solved are analysed. The stability problem on so-called noncolocation control and the infinite order problem of the real Jacobian matrix caused by the elastic deformation are discussed. By considering the dynamic relations between rigid and elastic modes, a Jacobian operator is derived and the physical meaning is also explained. Then, for practical control, a simple control scheme using an approximate Jacobian is proposed and its stable conditions are proven by means of the $L_$2$ stability theory. The scheme is structurally similar to the conventional PD control laws, but external sensors(e. g. visual sensor) are used for positioning and internal sensors for damping. A good performance is obtained via control experiments of a slender two link manipulator.

  • A shape optimization of a rib of a bolster of a bogie frame is attempted and a dimension optimization on upper and lower plates is also carried out for the reduction of the weight of bogie frame. In addition, the dynamic characteristics of the weight reduced model are investigated by an analysis of a natural frequency and a transient analysis. The results show that the first natural frequency of an optimized model is larger than that of the lowest design value. And the results of transit analysis based on the experimental stress also show smaller value than the yield stress. Thus the optimized model attempted in this study is considered to be structurally stable and useful for the improvement of railway carriages.
