  • This paper is motivated by the results in [6]. We study some properties of strongly irreducible submodules of a module. In fact, our objective is to investigate strongly irreducible modules and to examine in particular when sub modules of a module are strongly irreducible. For example, we show that prime submodules of a multiplication module are strongly irreducible, and a characterization is given of a multiplication module over a Noetherian ring which contain a non-prime strongly irreducible submodule.

  • Let R be a commutative graded ring with nonzero identity and n a positive integer. Our principal aim in this paper is to introduce and study the notions of graded n-irreducible and strongly graded n-irreducible ideals which are generalizations of n-irreducible and strongly n-irreducible ideals to the context of graded rings, respectively. A proper graded ideal I of R is called graded n-irreducible (respectively, strongly graded n-irreducible) if for each graded ideals I1, . . . , In+1 of R, I = I1 ∩ · · · ∩ In+1 (respectively, I1 ∩ · · · ∩ In+1 ⊆ I ) implies that there are n of the Ii 's whose intersection is I (respectively, whose intersection is in I). In order to give a graded study to this notions, we give the graded version of several other results, some of them are well known. Finally, as a special result, we give an example of a graded n-irreducible ideal which is not an n-irreducible ideal and an example of a graded ideal which is graded n-irreducible, but not graded (n - 1)-irreducible.

  • The purpose of this note is a wide generalization of the topological results of various classes of ideals of rings, semirings, and modules, endowed with Zariski topologies, to r-strongly irreducible r-ideals (endowed with Zariski topologies) of monoids, called terminal spaces. We show that terminal spaces are T0, quasi-compact, and every nonempty irreducible closed subset has a unique generic point. We characterize rarithmetic monoids in terms of terminal spaces. Finally, we provide necessary and sufficient conditions for the subspaces of r-maximal r-ideals and r-prime r-ideals to be dense in the corresponding terminal spaces.

  • In this article, we initially present the concept of the fuzzy generalized m-bi-ideals in semigroups, then making use of their important types like prime, semiprime and strongly fuzzy generalized m-bi-ideals, we give the important characterizations of the semigroups. We also characterize the m-regular and m-intraregular semigroups using the properties of the irreducible and strongly irreducible fuzyy generalized m-bi-ideals.

  • Let G be an infinite countable group and A be a finite set. If Σ ⊆ AG is a strongly irreducible subshift of finite type and 𝓖 is the local conjugacy equivalence relation on Σ. We construct a decreasing sequence 𝓡 of unital C*-subalgebras of C(Σ) and a sequence of faithful conditional expectations E defined on C(Σ), and obtain a Toeplitz algebra 𝓣 (𝓡, 𝓔) and a C*-algebra C*(𝓡, 𝓔) for the pair (𝓡, 𝓔). We show that C*(𝓡, 𝓔) is *-isomorphic to the reduced groupoid C*-algebra C*r(𝓖).

  • An oriented graph is a digraph with no symmetric pairs of directed arcs and without loops. The score of a vertex $v_i$ in an oriented graph D is $a_{v_i}\;(or\;simply\;a_i)=n-1+d_{v_i}^+-d_{v_i}^-,\;where\; d_{v_i}^+\;and\;d_{v_i}^-$ are the outdegree and indegree, respectively, of $v_i$ and n is the number of vertices in D. In this paper, we give a new proof of Avery's theorem and obtain some stronger inequalities for scores in oriented graphs. We also characterize strongly transitive oriented graphs.

  • Let $M=H_1{\cup}_SH_2$ be a Heegaard splitting of a 3-manifold M, D be an essential disk in $H_1$ and A be an essential annulus in $H_2$. Suppose D and A intersect in one point. First, we show that a Heegaard splitting admitting such a (D, A) pair satisfies the disjoint curve property, yet there are infinitely many examples of strongly irreducible Heegaard splittings with such (D, A) pairs. In the second half, we obtain another Heegaard splitting $M=H'_1{\cup}_{S'}H'_2$ by removing the neighborhood of A from $H_2$ and attaching it to $H_1$, and show that $M=H'_1{\cup}_{S'}H'_2$ also has a (D, A) pair with $|D{\cap}A|=1$.

  • Zero-difference balanced (ZDB) functions can be applied to many areas like optimal constant composition codes, optimal frequency hopping sequences etc. Moreover, it has been shown that the image set of some ZDB functions is a regular partial difference set, and hence provides strongly regular graphs. Besides, perfect nonlinear functions are zero-difference balanced functions. However, the converse is not true in general. In this paper, we use the decomposition of cyclotomic polynomials into irreducible factors over 𝔽p, where p is an odd prime to generalize some recent results on ZDB functions. Also we extend a result introduced by Claude et al. [3] regarding zero-difference-p-balanced functions over 𝔽pn. Eventually, we use these results to construct some optimal constant composition codes.

  • It is proved that there is a one to one correspondence between representations of C*-ternary ring M and C*-algebra 𝒜(M). We discuss primitive and modular ideals of a C*-ternary ring and prove that a closed ideal I is primitive or modular if and only if so is the ideal 𝒜(I) of 𝒜(M). We also show that a closed ideal in M is primitive if and only if it is the kernel of some irreducible representation of M. Lastly, we obtain approximate identity characterization of strongly quasi-central C*-ternary ring and the ideal structure of the TRO V ⊗tmin B for a C*-algebra B.
