  • Generalized Pareto distribution play an important role in reliability, extreme value theory, and other branches of applied probability and statistics. This family of distribution includes exponential distribution, Pareto or Lomax distribution. In this paper, we established exact expressions and recurrence relations satised by the quotient moments of generalized order statistics for a generalized Pareto distribution. Further the results for quotient moments of order statistics and records are deduced from the relations obtained and a theorem for characterizing this distribution is presented.

  • This paper proposes a new generalized iterative method (SSOR-like method) for solving augmented system. A functional equation relating two involved parameters is obtained, and some convergence conditions for this method are derived. This paper generalizes some foregone results. Numerical examples show that, this method is efficient by suitable choices of the involved parameters.

  • We treat the problem of estimating reliability R = P[Y < X] in the stress-strength model in which a unit of strength X is subfected to enviromental stress Y./ In this paper several nonparametric approaches to estimation of R are analyzed and compared by simulations.

  • Detecting outliers in a linear regression model eventually fails when similar observations are classified differently in a sequential process. In such circumstances, identifying clusters and applying certain methods to the clustered data can prevent a failure to detect outliers and is computationally efficient due to the reduction of data. In this paper, we suggest to implement a clustering procedure for this purpose and provide examples that illustrate the suggested procedure applied to the Hadi-Simonoff (1993) method, reverse Hadi-Simonoff method, and Gentleman-Wilk (1975) method.

  • In this paper, we discuss simple ways of implementing non-basic kernel density estimators which typically ceed extra pilot estimation. The methods utilize order statistics at the pilot estimation stages. We focus mainly on bariable lacation and scale kernel density estimator (Jones, Hu and McKay, 1994), but the same idea can be applied to other methods too.

  • From several commercialized games the technique of changing facial expressions is imported, and a design method of a game character for the player's empathy is expected to be diversified in the future. In this paper, as a design method of a game character for the player's empathy, this makes walking motion for the game character applied with 'human-emotion' factors as statistics variation of a game character in RPG genre. After this paper implements analyzed emotions of human facial expression and walking motions applied with emotion in examples of character animation theory, this paper divides walking motion applied with human-emotion factors into 8 types through relationship to statistics factors in RPG genre. And then these are applied to a knight character, which has the most similarity with human's physical feature of the game characters in RPG genre, and makes walking motion as variable statistics. As a game player controls the game character applied with 'human-emotion' factors, the effect of the player's empathy about the game character becomes higher, and the level of immersion in game play is also expected to increase.

  • This paper, first of all, surveys the current status of the environmental statistics in Korea. And then, by comparing Korean environmental statistics with the environmental statistics of the European Union and the environmental statistics recommended by the United Nations, some insufficient environmental statistics of Korea are listed and discussed. Finally, desirable directions for future development in environmental statistics in Korea are suggested and discussed.

  • In this paper, we propose a method to summarize the monthly traffic amount for analyzing network load in mobile communication system. We used the traffic data obtained from a domestic telecommunication company. Based on the statistical properties of the traffic data, we devise an efficient method to summarize monthly traffic amount.
