This paper focuses on the after synthesis of CdTe quantum dots(QDs) in aqueous solution. CdTe nanoparticles were prepared in aqueous solution using mercaptocarboxylic acid or thioglycolic acid(TGA) as stabilizing agents. QDs emit light smaller than the nano size. The contents of the mercaptocarboxylic acid, and a kind of raw material, were revealed for a period of time. We succeeded in synthesizing a very high quality QDs solution; we discussed how to make QDs better and to keep them stabilized. TGA is known as one of the best stabilizing agents. Many papers have mentioned that TGA is a good stabilizing agent. We dramatically confirmed the state of QDs after the experiments. The QDs solution can be influenced by several factors. Different content of TGA can influence the stability of the CdTe solution. Most papers deal with the synthesis of CdTe, so we decided to discuss the after synthesis process for the stability of the CdTe solution.
In the construction on low strength and high compressible soft ground, the many problems have been occurred in recent construction project. therefore, the soil improvement have been developed to obtain high strength in relatively short period of curing time. Based on the laboratory tests using undisturbed marine clay, the effect of improvement on soft ground was estimated. Deep mixing method by cement have been virtually used for decades to improve the mechanical properties of soft ground. However, previous researches set the focus on the short term strength the about 10% of cement treated clay. In this paper, cement and Natural Soil Stabilizer (NSS) were used as the stabilizing agent to obtain trafficability and mechanical strength of the soft clay. Based on the several laboratory tests, optimum condition was proposed to ensure the mechanical strength and compressibility as the foundation soil using cement and NSS mixed soil. Finally, research data was proposed about the applicability of NSS as the stabilizing agent to soft clay to increase the mechanical strength of soil.
This study concerned remediation of heavy metal contaminated farmland soils near abandoned mine, using stabilization method, with particular emphasis on the remediating the soils contaminated with multi-elements. In this study, stabilizing heavy metals based on 'In-situ chemical fixation' has been applied to the soil collected from an abandoned mine in Korea, using column test, with various stabilizing agents, including $FeSO_4$, $KMnO_4$, sludge (collected from coal mine drainage treatment pond), zero-valent iron (ZVI), zeolite and $CaCO_3$. Sixty five-days operation of the flow-through columns yield $FeSO_4\;+\;KMnO_4$ and zeolite are efficient on reducing As leaching from the soil. ZVI and sludge are reducing the leaching of Cu. Although $FeSO_4\;+\;KMnO_4$ seem to be efficient for most heavy metals, high pH in the initial stage of test enabled high leaching of the heavy metals, whereas fixation of the heavy metals maintain throughout the rest of the test period, with increasing pH up to around 6. Addition of some alkaline agent may inhibit the low pH during the application. The column test was also run as two set: one set incubated with deionized water for 72 hours prior to starting the test, and the other without incubation. The incubated set demonstrated better stabilizing efficiency, indicating the potential optimized operation method.

Recently, the application of a photocatalyst to road structures is being attempted to solve environmental problems caused by fine particulate matter and automobile exhaust. The purpose of this study was to develop a release agent with GST (low-cost, high-performance photocatalyst produced from wastewater sludge). For this, the method of mixing and dispersing GST with the release agent was used first, and the removal performance of nitrogen oxide (NOx) was then checked. The best performance without a precipitation reaction was achieved using a stabilizing agent at 20 % in an outdoor exposure test for four weeks. The NO and NOx removal rate of the specimen demolded by applying the GST release agent developed in this study showed excellent effects of 200 to 400 % compared to the Plain material. To increase the performance of the GST release agent, it is necessary to improve the dispersibility of GST in the release agent and increase the amount of the nano-sized photocatalyst. In addition, the use of GST release agent in road structures and exposed concrete is expected to increase the NOx removal efficiency.
Several bacterial strains producing biosurfactants were isolated from polluted marine and soil by oil. One of the strains named LSC11 showed strong production activity of biosurfactants. This strain was identified as a Bacillus sp. LSC11 based on the morphological, biochemical, and physiological characteristics. The biosurfactant, produced by the strain, emulsified crude oil, vegetable oil, and hydrocarbons. The surface tension of the culture broth of Bacillus sp. LSC11 decreased to 32 mN/m. The crude biosurfactant was obtained from the culture broth by acid precipitation, freeze drying, solvent extraction, and evaporation. The emulsifying activity of the biosurfactant showed better than the chemically synthesized surfactant (SDS, Span40, Span 85). The biosurfactants had strong properties as an emulsifying agent and as an emulsion-stabilizing agent.

Chemical mechanical polishing is an essential process in the production of copper-based chips. On this work, the stability of hydrogen peroxide ($H_{2}O_{2}$) as an oxidizer of copper CMP slurry has been investigated. $H_{2}O_{2}$ is known as the most common oxidizer in copper CMP slurry. But $H_{2}O_{2}$ is so unstable that its stabilization is needed using as an oxidizer. As adding KOH as a pH buffering agent, stability of $H_{2}O_{2}$ decreased. However, $H_{2}O_{2}$ stability in slurry went up with putting in small amount of BTA as a film forming agent. There was no difference of $H_{2}O_{2}$ stability between pH buffering agents KOH and TMAH at similar pH value. Addition of $H_{2}O_{2}$ in slurry in advance of bead milling led to better stability than adding after bead milling. Adding phosphoric acid resulted in the higher stability. Using alumina C as an abrasive was good at stabilizing for $H_{2}O_{2}$.
We have previously reported that NF-kB is involved in the regulation of nitric oxide synthase gene expression during differentiation of chick embryonic myoblasts. However, how NF-kB is timely activated during myogenesis remains elusive. One of the most prominent events in myogenesis is myoblast membrane fusion, which is accompanied with massive cytoskeletal reorganization. Here we show that the activity of NF-kB markedly increases in L6 rat myogenic cells that have just initiated morphological changes by treating nocodazole, a microtubule-disrupting agent. Furthermore, the induction of NF-kB activation was closely correlated with the myoblast fusion. In addition, a variety of agents that disrupt microtubules stimulated the myoblast fusion as well as the induction of NF-kB activation. In contrast, taxol, a microtubule-stabilizing agent, suppressed the induction of NF-kB activation and inhibited spontaneous differentiation of L6 cells as well. In addition, we found that the NF-KB in the cells consists of p50/p65 heterodimers. These results support the idea that reorganization of microtubule at early stages of differentiation plays a role as a signal for NF-KB activation during myogenesis.
Copper nanoparticles (CuNPs) are considered of great importance due to their high catalytic and antimicrobial activities. This study focuses on the preparation and characterization of CuNPs, and on their antibacterial/antifungal activities. A copper salt (copper sulfate pentahydrate) as precursor, starch as stabilizing agent, and ascorbic acid as reducing agent were used to fabricate CuNPs. The resulting product was characterized via different techniques such as X-ray diffractrometry (XRD), Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, and Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) to confirm its characteristic properties. Employing the Scherrer formula, the mean crystallite sizes of copper (Cu) and cuprous oxide (Cu2O) nanocrystals were found to be 29.21 and 25.33 nm, respectively, as measured from the main X-ray diffraction peaks. The functional groups present in the resulting CuNPs were confirmed by FTIR. In addition, the engineered CuNPs showed antibacterial and antifungal activity against tested pathogenic bacterial and fungal strains.
We report an important and useful method for preparing ${\omega}-sulfonated$ polystyrene-stabilized cadmium sulfide (CdS) nanoclusters. The ${\omega}-sulfonated$ polystyrene $(M_n\;=\;5000\;g/mol)$ was prepared successfully through chain-end sulfonation of poly(styryl)lithium using 1,3-propanesultone; the resulting polymer was used successfully as a polymeric stabilizing agent for the preparation of semiconductor CdS nanoclusters by reduction of cadmium acetate in a mixture of toluene and methanol (9:1, v/v). The nanoclusters that formed were characterized by a combination of transmission electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, and UVN is spectroscopic analysis. The ${\omega}-sulfonated$ polystyrene-stabilized CdS nanoclusters synthesized in this study exhibited the cubic phase (zinc-blende phase) structure in the range of 2-8 nm.
A fluorescent nucleoside analogue, $^AC$, featuring two non-complementary nucleobases linked through an ethynyl group, was synthesized. The extended ${\pi}$-conjugation imparts $^AC$ with red-shifted absorbance (relative to adenine and cytosine) and pale-blue fluorescence. It spontaneously forms nanoparticles, which exhibit considerably enhanced fluorescence, without the help of any additional stabilizing agent. The DMSO/water ratio was an important factor influencing the construction of the NPs. X-ray crystallography confirmed the structure of $^AC$; dynamic light scattering and scanning electron microscopy confirmed the existence of the nanoparticles.
