  • In this paper, we study on the reinterpretation of Burnside's theorem that is a tool to compute the number of equivalence classes of a group action on a set, and by applying it, we find out the numbers of different patterns in coloring problems of various types of figures with symmetry and use them for computing the numbers of different kinds of chemical compounds.

  • In this paper, we define a new kind of formal power series rings by using Gaussian binomial coefficients and investigate some properties. More precisely, we call such a ring a Gaussian series ring and study McCoy's theorem, Hermite properties and Noetherian properties.

  • Posner's first theorem states that if R is a prime ring of characteristic different from two, $d_1$ and $d_2$ are derivations on R such that the iterate $d_1d_2$ is also a derivation of R, then at least one of $d_1$, $d_2$ is zero. In the present paper we extend this result to *-prime rings of characteristic different from two.

  • A Hilbert space operator T is a 2-isometry if $T^{{\ast}2}T^2\;-\;2T^{\ast}T+I$ = O. We shall study some properties of 2-isometries, in particular spectra of a non-unitary 2-isometry and give an example. Also we prove with alternate argument that the Weyl's theorem holds for 2-isometries.

  • We study the periodic homogenization of the non-stationary Stokes equations. The fundamental homogenization theorem and corrector theorem are proved under a very general assumption on the viscosity coefficients and data. The proofs are based on a weak formulation suitable for an application of classical Tartar's method of oscillating test functions. Such a weak formulation is derived by adapting an argument in Teman's book [Navier-Stokes Equations: Theory and Numerical Analysis, North-Holland, Amsterdam, 1984].

  • The aim of this paper is to obtain twenty five Eulerian type single integrals in the form of a general single integral involving $Kamp\acute{e}$ de $F\acute{e}riet$ function. The results are derived with the help of the generalized classical Watson's theorem obtained earlier by Lavoie, Grondin and Rathie. A few interesting special cases of our main result are also given.

  • In this article, a hybrid family of polynomials related to the Appell polynomials is introduced. Certain properties including quasimonomiality, differential equation and determinant definition of these polynomials are established. Further, applications of Carlitz's theorem to these polynomials and to certain other related polynomials are considered. Examples providing the corresponding results for some members belonging to this family are also considered.
