Frictional resistance comprises more than 60% of the total resistance for most merchant ships. Active and passive devices have been used to reduce frictional resistance, but the most effective and practical device is an air lubrication system. Such systems have been applied in several ships, and their effects have been verified in sea trials. On the other hand, there are some differences between the results predicted in model tests and those measured in sea trials. In this study, numerical analyses were carried out for a model and a full-scale ship. A new extrapolation method was proposed to improve the estimation of the full-scale resistance of a ship with an air lubrication system. The volume of fluid (VOF) method was considered for the numerical models of the air layer. The numerical method was validated by comparing the experimental data on the air layer pattern and the total resistance.
Knowledge is a fundamental assets, therefore, the ability to create, acquire, integrate, and share knowledge has emerged as a fundamental organizational capability(Sambamurthy and Subramani, 2005). This apaper reports the results of an empirical study investigating the factors of acceptance and the moderating role of resistance in Knowledge Management Systems(KMS). The research model is based on the theory of planned behavior(TPB) and technology acceptance model(TAM). It includes the perceived usefulness instead of attitude, subjective norm, perceived behavior control and intention of acceptance of KMS. Also, three external variables namely task-technology fit, organizational support, and perceived rewards are added. In the research model, all hypothrses of the baseline model and the moderating effects of resistance were found to be significant. The authors also of fred several implications based chi the findings.

This study is concerned with the development of the basic planing hull form of small fishing boat in 25 knots high speed. A series of model test to determine the optimum performance hull form of actual fishing boat with 10 gross tonnage was carried out for 5 models made available planing hull form in the circulation water channel. Model test was performed with the resistance test to study the hydrodynamic characteristics of model ships and the sinkage and trim measurement to investigate the stability of model ships and also the wave pattern observation to analyze the effectiveness of model ships. As the result, the planing hull form of P-4 with deep V type bow can be derived as the best hull form with good performance especially in ship's resistance efficiency showing less residual resistance and sinkage and trim and the spray effect, etc..

This paper presents an indirect field-oriented (IFO) induction motor position servo drives which uses the model following adaptive controller with the artificial neural network(ANN)-based rotor resistance estimator. The model reference adaptive system(MRAS)-based 2-layer ANN estimates the rotor resistance on-line and a linear model-following position controller is designed by using the estimated the rotor resistance value. At the end, a fuzzy logic system(FLS) is added to make the position controller robust to the external disturbances and the parameter variations. The simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed method.
A design procedure for a ship with minimum total resistance has been developed using a numerical optimization method called SQP (Sequential Quadratic Programming) to search for optimized hull form and CFD(Computational Fluid Dynamics) technique. The friction resistance is estimated using the ITTC 1957 model-ship correlation line formula and the wave making resistance is evaluated using a potential-flow panel method based on Rankine sources with nonlinear free surface boundary conditions. The geometry of hull surface is represented and modified using B-spline surface patches during the optimization process. Using the Series 60 hull ($C_B$ =0.60) as a base hull, the optimization procedure is applied to obtain an optimal hull that produces the minimum total resistance for the given constraints. To verify the validity of the result, the original model and the optimized model obtained by the optimization process have been built and tested in a towing tank. It is shown that the optimal hull obtained around $13\%$ reduction in the total resistance and around $40\%$ reduction in the residual resistance at a speed tested compared with that of the original one, demonstrating that the present optimization tool can be effectively used for efficient hull form designs.

The resistance test of a high speed craft such as planing ship is performed with a high speed towing carriage instead of ordinary towing carriage because of the speed limitation. In the resistance test using high speed towing carriage, the model ship is fixed to the carriage to restrain the running attitude for enough measuring time. Such method is called fixed model test method. In the fixed model test method, to get the appropriate running attitude, the model test is iteratively repeated until the trim moment and lift force are close to zero. In this research, trim free model test method is investigated to reduce the number of iteration. And, the limitation of towing speed range in the trim free model test method is investigated.

In this paper, the compact model for FinFET gate resistance is developed. Based on the FinFET geometry and material, the value of the gate resistance is extracted by Y-parameter analysis using 3D device simulator, Sentaurus. By dividing the gate resistance into horizontal and vertical components, the proposed gate resistance model captures the non-linear characteristics. The proposed compact model reflects the realistic gate structure which has two different materials (Tungsten, TiN) stacked. Using the proposed model, the number of fins for the minimum gate resistance can be proposed based on the variation of gate geometrical parameters. The proposed gate resistance model is implemented in BSIM-CMG. A ring-oscillator is designed, and its delay performance is compared with and without gate resistance.

In this paper, an analytical model is presented for the source/drain parasitic resistance of FinFET. The parasitic resistance is a important part of a total resistance in FinFET because of current flow through the narrow fin. The model incorporates the contribution of contact and spreading resistances considering three-dimensional current flow. The contact resistance is modeled taking into account the current flow and parallel connection of dividing parts. The spreading resistance is modeled by difference between wide and narrow and using integral. We show excellent agreement between our model and simulation which is conducted by Raphael, 3D numerical field solver. It is possible to improve the accuracy of compact model such as BSIM-CMG using the proposed model.

In this paper, we propose thermal resistance compact model of FinFET structure that has hexagon shaped source/drain. The heating effect and thermal properties were increased by reduced size of the device, and thermal resistance is an important factor to analyze the effect and the properties. The heat source and each contact that is moved heat out were set up in transistor, and domain is divided by the heat source and the four parts of contacts : source, drain, gate, substrate. Each contact thermal resistance model is subdivided as a easily interpretable structure by analyzing the temperature and heat flow of the TCAD simulation results. The domains are modeled based on an integration or conformal mapping method through the structure parameters according to its structure. First modeled by analyzing the thermal resistance to a single fin, and applying the change in the parameter of the channel increases to improve the accuracy of the thermal resistance model of the multi-fin/ finger. The proposed thermal resistance model was compared to the thermal resistance by analyzing results of the 3D Technology CAD simulations, and the proposed total thermal resistance model has an error of 3 % less in single and multi-finl. The proposed thermal resistance model can predict the thermal resistance due to the increase of the fin / finger, and the circuit characteristics can be improved by calculating the self-heating effect and thermal characterization.

A series of model tests carried out at the CWC of WJFEL for the purpose of prediction of resistance for the performance and improvement of resistance by attaching appendage for the ship of 50 knots class planing hull. The resistance performance evaluation has been carried out for the bare hull and for the appendage hull with two different depth of vertical type wedges. In the bare model test, trim and sinkage is calculated for the planing hull and the resistance is calculated. For minimizing the resistance, wedge appendage is attached and tested. Analysis and tests shows that for a 12.5mm wedge, resistance is minimum and overall power tallied to 5636ps.
